Festival of the Lion King to close in January

In terms of FOTLK closing, as of today; here are my observations: Avatarland was put on "indefinite hold" giving me hope that FOTLK might not close.

As of yesterday they posted auditons for the singers, with callbacks in late Nov. It would be pointless to hire new singers to train them and have them do one month of the show before it closes...correct?
Looks like FOTLK will not be closing after all?

That would be great

Where did you get that info?

It would be sad if such a beautiful, well done show was canceled. I've loved that movie since it came out when I was a kid and saw the show twice during our last visit. I think they did an amazing job on it.

As far as Avatar land...I could take it or leave it. I remember liking the movie when it came out, but for the life of me I couldn't tell you anything about the plot/characters now. It was good but forgettable.

What I would love to see is Epcot and Hollywood Studios improved. In all honesty I think they need much more updates and attractions than Animal Kingdom.

The audition posting is on the disney website. Www.disneyauditions.com

I have been talking to some sources and they have told me that Disney will operate as business as usual until its time to announce

Its not out of the realm of possibility to add singers then one month later close the show

so while this is good news for FOTLK, it is no means a "done deal"

So sad they are closing this! Festival of the Lion King is one of my favorites! I will be there April of 2013 so I will miss it! :( With so much land why must they close such a great show!! Just put Avatar somewhere else!

Just so you know, this is all speculation. Disney has not announced anything

It was Pocahontas with blue aliens in space.

I hate that! I haven't seen it yet, but I've heard it is wonderful. I don't think we'll have time to see it when we go in December and I won't be back before next summer.

So, for now, we're thinking that it should still be open in July? I'm going in July and the one time that I went to Disney World (ten years ago), this was the highlight...

It may be open. Or it could close soon. Disney probably won't give too much notice

I'm still bummed that "Hunchback" closed. I sure hope they don't close Lion King. I really enjoy the show.

I know I read SOMEWHERE that it is only closing to move. It even said a reopen date, which was before our trip in November for sure. Not sure exactly when it was thinking summertime? But if they are delaying it now, maybe we will end up missing it after all.

If they are going to move it maybe they will get the new place ready first and then make a quick move.

Every rumor I have seen says its moving to either Harambe or Rafikis Planet Watch although they would have to build a whole new theatre and certainly ground has not broken

I have not seen a reopeing date, but considering there is no closing date anything at this point is pure speculation
