Snow Mom & her 3 dwarfs...grumpy, sicky, and sneaky! Aug. '12 TR (Update 6/1)Complete

Great report! I know how it is to go to Disney with people that are less than enthusiastic, to put it mildly ;), so me, adult DD, and DGS13 usually go ourselves. Sometimes when Dd can't go, it's just my grandson and I. Been doing this since he was four years old. We even did a 3 day Disney cruise by ourselves. Had a blast!

You never know about kids... your DD could end up liking the more thrilling rides when she gets a little older. My youngest DD would not go on rides like TOT until she was about ten and after that, she became a real dare devil at all theme parks. I would have never guessed.

I liked your lights on photos of RnRC. Have to say... one of my fears/phobias is being stuck on that ride with a harness on. I would have freaked if it had been a 25 min wait. Yikes! I didn't used to be like this when I was younger, lol.

Nice report and terrific pics!

I agree...I will say...when just DD and I went last year...it seemed so much more relaxed! We kind of did our own things and didn't have to please anyone but ourselves!! And I really do hope she becomes a dare devil!! DH will not do the rides...so I need someone to do them with me!

I will admit...I was starting to get antsy being harnessed in. At first it wasn't bad...but yes...after a while I was feeling "tied down!!" Literally!! :rotfl2:

Thanks for your compliments!! Keep reading!! :thumbsup2

Like I said, we came out of TSM and saw the line was out the door to meet Buzz and Woody....but I didn't think twice...I knew Carson HAD to meet his two favorite Characters!!!

We waited 50 minutes!!!!! The longest we waited for anything the entire trip! It was just me...and Carson....what would we do during the wait?

Well....

We played in Andy's room....

Disney2012116.jpg

We made new "imaginary" friends....

Disney2012117.jpg

Disney2012119.jpg

We even talked to them...

Disney2012118.jpg

We hid....

Disney2012120.jpg

We sat...

Disney2012121.jpg

We got strapped to a rocket...

Disney2012122.jpg

We sat some more....

Disney2012123.jpg

We played with the Sheriff....

Disney2012125.jpg

Disney2012127.jpg

We made new "real" friends...

Disney2012126.jpg

And we got in some luggage...

Disney2012129.jpg

Until FINALLY...it was his turn to meet Buzz and Woody!!!

And he was in LOVE!!!!

38395840080.jpg

38395840081.jpg

38395840083.jpg

Woody saw Carson's hat...and thought Buzz should wear it!! Carson just laughed and laughed!!

38395840084.jpg

38395840086.jpg

38395840088.jpg

38395840090.jpg

This Buzz and Woody were AWESOME!!! They even followed Carson outside to get one more high five! It was truly a magical moment!

And as we were leaving...the soldier stopped us to get a high five...then posed for some pictures!!! How lucky...whenever we've seen him before...the line is so long we don't stop!!

I was so glad that we made the trip back over to DHS!! It was truly an awesome morning!!

First off, I would like to say Thank-you! As the parent of a special education 6 year old, I think that it is awesome that you have chosen this career path!

I applaud your patience and your tolerance! Not everyone can do your job, so thank-you!

Next, awesome pictures. That is great that the Army Man was there and ready for such awesome interaction. We have had the chance to horse around with those guys before and they are great fun!

I can't wait to follow along for the rest of this trip!

Awwww....THANK YOU!!! It's nice to hear....I don't hear it often! I love my job...it can be very trying at times...but very rewarding!!

Yes...DS had such a great time with the Army Man! He loved it all...every morning he wakes up telling us that he's going to Disneyworld!

I'll get more posts up soon...so stay tuned!

And SO JEALOUS of your parent's only trip....!!!!!

Once DS and I were done doing our "Toy Story" thing...we decided to head back to the hotel to see what DH and DD were up to. We took the Friendship boat back...and DH and DD were waiting by the lighthouse for us!

Callie was so excited because she got her Dad to go down the slide!

It was about lunch time, we were all hungry, so we decided to head to Epcot for lunch!

We made our way to Epcot and it was HOT and HUMID!! There was just no breeze to give you even a little relief from the heat. We started walking through the World Showcase. As we were walking, we looked to the right, and there was Ali and Jasmine! We've Never seen either of them...so DD was excited! Carson on the other hand wanted NOTHING to do with them!! So of course we had to stop and say Hello!! :wave2:

Disney2012138.jpg

38395840096.jpg

38395840100.jpg

As we kept walking...there was Mr. Penguin! The kids didn't really know who he was but he was a character and they wanted their picture with him! Here again...Carson wouldn't get close to the "human" characters...but Loved Mr. Penguin!

Disney2012140.jpg

Disney2012141.jpg

Disney2012143.jpg

We walked a little further and to our left was Snow White. So...guess what...we had to stop! DH was getting a little annoyed because he was hungry and hot...and that equals GRUMPY!!!

38395840104.jpg

38395840108.jpg

Finally we made our way to Liberty Tavern to eat. It was air conditioned...so we were all happy! I got the Caesar Salad. It was good but had too much dressing on it. DH got the Chicken Wrap...it was good...I should have gotten that. And the kids split chicken nuggets!

When we were done eating, we headed to Norway to ride Maelstrom.

Disney2012148.jpg

This was so cute...DH, DD, and DS all holding hands walking to the ride...too bad I cut DS out. :sad2:

We had a 10 minute wait. I don't remember ever doing that ride before...but the kids loved it! Callie was cold waiting in line though...

Disney2012149.jpg

We did get stopped during the ride for like 5 min. We got stopped right before you go backwords...and it was a dark part...so DS was a tad scared!

Disney2012150.jpg

This ride became one of Callie's favorite rides at Disneyworld!!

After this we headed to Gran Fiesta Tour. Carson liked this one much better. We walked right onto this one!

I could tell Carson was getting tired...so we decided it was time to head back to the hotel so he could nap! Plus, like I said, it was so hot, we all needed a break!

We headed back to our room to find that Mousekeeping was just getting started. Ugh! So we took our cups and went and got them filled, walked around for a bit, and then finally, they were done!

I was hoping to go back to the room and nap or lay by the pool, but DD had other plans!

Last year, when just she and I came to Disney, as we were leaving Magic Kingdom for the last time, at 1 am, she told me, "Next time we come, I'm going to get my face painted!!" Little did I know we'd go in August when either 1) The paint would just melt right off...or 2) she'd jump in the pool right away and wash it away! So I kind of talked her out of getting her face painted...so what did she want instead....

Disney2012151.jpg

Her hair wrapped of course!! So while DS and DH napped, we went and waited in line to get her hair wrapped. We had to wait for 3 other little girls to get their done (and one had extremely long hair) until it was finally Callie's turn! She picked the colors pink, purple, blue and white!! While she got her hair wrapped, I went to Hurricane Hanna's and ordered myself a drink! I can't remember the exact name...but it was a Pina Colada with Raspberry! It was delicious!!! It was something LAVA!!

After about 45 min. she was done! We picked the beads out and she was so excited!!

Disney2012152.jpg

Disney2012153.jpg

However...as soon as she was done...she started whipping her hair around trying to hit us with the beads. :confused3 Let me tell you...that got old after about the first time she did it. But that didn't stop her from doing it the rest of the trip. :rolleyes2

After this, we went back to the room to get ready to go for the night. We were headed to Downtown Disney!!

Loving your thread! We too were there in August and man oh man our day in Epcot was so hot. Our plan was to casually stroll through, picking up snacks as we were on the Free DDP but we literally booted it through WS snapping pictures along the way (and popping in and out of gift shops just for some a.c).

Was is Pina CoLava? I only remember that name because I thought it sounded so good! One of my favourite drinks! We did not stay at BC but I did some "research" on Disney bevvies before our trip and this name apparently stuck lol.

Your DD's hair looks so cute. My sister really wanted her hair wrapped but didnt end up getting too it. Was always packed when we were there. My sister was quite upset about it

Looking forward to continuing reading!

I really do think that day was the hottest day we had!! There was no breeze...and not much shade walking the world!!

YES!!! It was a Pina CoLava!!! I loved it!!! I could have drank them all day...if they weren't like $8 for one!

And thanks for the compliments!! She loved it in her hair. It was suppose to last 2 weeks to 2 months...but it came out about a week later. It started to unravel at the end. But it was fine because she started school...and I didn't want her swinging it around!!

I'll post more soon!!!

DD and I headed back to the room...which was perfect timing!! It started to storm. We all showered and got ready....and it was still raining when we left for Downtown Disney.

Disney2012154.jpg

Now, I have read and was warned about how bad the bus is to and from Downtown Disney from the Beach Club....and I will say....it IS as bad as they make it out to be!! We got on the bus at 5:40 and didn't make it to the Pleasure Island side until 6:40. We did talk to a very nice family on the bus so that made time pass...but geez!!! Our reservation was at 6:45 so we had to book it to T-Rex!!! I knew the kids would love it!!

It was still kind of sprinkling...and as we walked up to T-Rex...it was a MAD HOUSE!!!! The line was outrageous....:sad2: I knew we were going to be late now. Callie and I started to wait in line...while DH and DS took the stroller.

Disney2012155.jpg

All of a sudden, DH comes with a sheet of paper. I was in the wrong line...I was in line for those who did not have reservations. So DH led me to the right line...and we only had to wait about 5 minutes before we were led back to our table!! :cool1:

I will say....the atmosphere in T-Rex is awesome!! I loved the fish tanks and the Ice Cave. The kids just looked and looked and looked! We were seated in the back in the Dinosaur area. At first DS wasn't sure about it...but by the end...he was loving it!

Disney2012159.jpg

Disney2012156.jpg

Disney2012157.jpg

I had heard the food was just sub-par and I will agree. DH and I had a hamburger, DD mini burgers, and DS chicken nuggets. We had onion rings for an appetizer. And no dessert. Overall....it was ok. But like I said, we would definitely go back for the atmosphere!! I liked it better than Rainforest!

As soon as our bellys were full...we decided to do a little shopping. We started on our way and decided that was the WRONG idea.

TIP: NEVER go to Downtown Disney on a Saturday night expecting to shop. It was PACKED!!!! You couldn't even walk through the stores it was so busy. And there were SO MANY rude people. No excuse me's or anything...just pushing their way through. I couldn't take it so we went to the Christmas store as I always get an ornament that says the year and we can put a picture in it....even in that store we encountered many cranky people. After that, we decided to head back to the hotel.

We did stop to get a couple pics. DD was angry because I made her stay in the stroller....she can be so lovely!! :rolleyes2

Disney2012160.jpg

Disney2012161.jpg

We got back to the hotel....I'm not sure what time it was. But DH and I decided we needed cheesecake. So we went to the Marketplace. DH and I got cheesecake...and we let the kids pick a souvenier. DD got new Mickey Ears (We had left her others at home) and DS picked out Toy Story cars! They both loved their new gifts.

Disney2012162.jpg

Disney2012163.jpg

The kids played for a bit while I picked up. Then we headed to bed. We had breakfast with the Princesses in the morning...we needed our beauty sleep!!

It was my night to sleep with the kids...and I slept horrible!! Even though we're in a king bed...both kids had to be snuggled right up to me. However, I did wake once to watch Carson go head first off the bed. I grabbed his foot and pulled him (not so gently) back up to the bed. I waited for the SCREAM...and got nothing! The kid slept through the entire thing!!

I was the first one up and got everyone out of bed at 8:45. Callie's cold was getting worse, but she knew we were eating with the princesses so jumped right up! We were out the door at 9:20 am and made our way to Epcot. With my princess....and her frog!! ;)

Disney2012165_zps6e68e6db.jpg

It was hot already!! We made the trek over to The Land Pavilion. I have NEVER done Soarin'. That's right...NEVER!! And I was bound and determined to do it this trip with DD. So we marched in and got fast passes for between 11 and 12! That was PERFECT!! I was so excited....I was finally going to get to do Soarin'!!!

We had a little bit before our reservation so we headed to Figment. Again...another ride I have never done! It was cold in there! DD froze the entire time!

Disney2012166_zpsf43a07bb.jpg

Disney2012168_zps3f36854f.jpg

We liked the ride...nothing exciting....but cute!! The kids loved playing after the ride!

Disney2012171_zps46b7f35c.jpg

Disney2012172_zps6dcf286b.jpg

We played for a bit...then it was time to go to Akershus. We had a reservation 10:30 am! Callie was SO excited!!

The kids are adorable. I got a chuckle out of the mad photo in the stroller. I have a couple mad photos of my grandson. He was sitting in that red flat car in AK and wasn't happy. I still laugh when I see it... however it wasn't so funny at the time, haha.

That was a crack up thinking about your DD whipping her braid around. Kids will always find something, won't they? :goodvibes

How did you like Soarin'? I love that ride.

Your DD's green fairy dress is really pretty!

I know what you mean about that awful heat, though. We went to Disney in August. We keep going to Disney in August and each time I vow never again. I am serious this time!!! :) I don't do well in the heat. I always feel like the Wicked Witch of the West... melting... always melting. It just takes away from the whole experience, but we've been doing that to avoid taking DGS out of school.

That sounds like a really cute tradition you have with the photo ornaments!

LOL! We had many moments where DD was "mad"!! Sometimes all we could do was laugh to get through it!!

I LOVED Soarin'!! I thought it was so neat...I loved the smells! DD loved it too. I wanted DH to ride it with her but he wouldn't! I can't wait until DS is tall enough...then we can all ride it together! Hopefully next trip!

Thanks on the dress compliment...she loved it and will wear it for Halloween! We'll just have to put a long sleeve shirt under it and some leggings!!

And I hear ya on the heat...it was hot! We went in June last trip...and while it was hot...at least at night it seemed to cool down. Whereas in August...that humidity never leaves and seems we were always sweating!!

And yes...I love the ornament tradition!! Reminds me of the great time we had!

We got to Akershus around 10:15 for a 10:30 reservation. They weren't ready for us, so we waited outside. It was hot...so we were anxious to get inside.

They called our name around 10:25 to wait in line for Belle. Of course...right as we get in line, Carson announces to everyone, "I have to poop!!"

I'm thinking...seriously...of all times. I asked him if he could wait...and he yelled, "NO!!" Ok....new plan. Marty took Carson to the bathroom while Callie and I continued to wait. As we got to the front of the line, the CM said we could wait for the boys to return.....but I KNOW how long Carson can take during this process...and who knows HOW long it would take this time! So I told him it was ok...that just DD and I wanted to get our picture!

We met Belle....I'm not sure what my DD said to her...but they talked for a bit and we got our picture.

Disney2012173_zpsce7af1f1.jpg

We got seated and went to the buffet. I had never been here for breakfast before...and didn't know that they brought the main food right to you. On the buffet we got some fruit, bagels, muffins, etc.! As far as the food that was served...it was ok. I liked the potatoes....DH liked the eggs....the kids didn't eat a whole lot! I like doing this meal because it is one place you will see a lot of the princesses...but I'm never "that" impressed with the food.

Disney2012174_zpsc2a8a970.jpg

Disney2012175_zpsed49f390.jpg

Ok...now on the princesses!

Aurora came first. She was very bland to me. She didn't say much and didn't seem to be that enthused with her job! Kids didn't mind!

Disney2012176_zpscead050d.jpg

Disney2012177_zpsaf95d7bc.jpg

Then came Cinderella! She was good! She had a pen stain on her dress that DD pointed out to her! They had a good conversation on that!

Disney2012179_zps0c70a5d2.jpg

Disney2012178_zps28c8f547.jpg

BTW...my son is going to LOVE girls....:rolleyes2 He would just sit and smile at them! Here he is waiting for one of them!

Disney2012180_zps93cc7233.jpg

Then came Snow White. I don't have much wrote about her but "ok"!!

Disney2012181_zpsa8c2abb2.jpg

Disney2012182_zpsfc6e1667.jpg

Disney2012183_zpsc446732d.jpg

Next was the princess processional. Callie didn't want to go do it...but she did...and I think she had fun. Carson joined her at the end!

Disney2012186_zps939811d7.jpg

Finally was Callie's favorite...Ariel! She was awesome! She interacted so much with both Callie and Carson. She was very much in character!

Disney2012187_zps7d4a00b5.jpg

Disney2012188_zps5703aeb3.jpg

Disney2012189_zpsd0d23b2f.jpg

Disney2012190_zps55496c5f.jpg

So overall the breakfast was ok. The kids were thrilled to have met all the princesses...so it was worth the cost of the meal to me! :rotfl:

Now...onto explore more of Epcot!!

Finally getting a chance to get caught up after my trip last month! Things have been crazy since I got home!

I'm loving all of the pics of your kids with the characters, so cute! Sometimes I really miss my kids being that little, but then other times, like when I read your account of Carson's announcement while in line to meet Belle, I don't miss it all :rotfl:

I hear you on things being crazy!!!! I'm so behind on my TR....I just don't have time...but working on it! YAY!! See you have a TR going...gonna check it out!

Thanks for the compliments!! I feel the same way....I know that I will miss taking my "young" kids to Disney....but then again...I won't miss the stroller, the crankiness, and yes...kids not being discrete on their announcements!!!

As we left the restaurant, we saw Maelstrom had pretty much just opened and had NO LINE!!! So of course we had to hit it up!! Yup...after that...Callie decided this was her new favorite ride!!

Finally, it was time to ride Soarin'. So we headed back to the land. I told Marty we could do parent swap...but the grouch said, "No!!" :confused3 I don't get him sometimes!

So while we rode Soarin', they rode The Land.

We got close to the front...but probably still had about a 10 min. wait when the CM came down the aisle looking for a party of 2!!! That was us....we got to go clear to the front! We waited about 4 minutes before it was our time...and then...it was our turn!!!

Let me just say...I LOVE that ride! I love the smells, the feeling of "flying", the views....it was great! I just wish we could have rode it again before we left. :( There's always next time....when hopefully we'll all ride!!

When we were done, we went over to wait for the boys. We had to wait 5 min. for them....but then we saw them!

Disney2012192_zps3dbeb4e9.jpg

The kids wanted to do Nemo again...and I wanted them to do Crush...so we headed over to the Seas. Again, we walked right on. And luckily, when we got done with the ride, a Crush show was going to start in 5 minutes! So we went and waited. The kids looked at the fish!

Disney2012193_zps0461a323.jpg

Disney2012194_zpsa89b228a.jpg

I wasn't as impressed with our Crush show. I've been in some very humorous shows...and this one was just ok. The kids who asked questions asked strange questions. One asked something about how they have babies!! Carson and Callie enjoyed it...so that's what matters!

When we were done...we decided to head back to the hotel. It was hot and we wanted to swim!

(sorry for the lack of pictures...I promise it will get better!!)

I feel the same way about Soarin, it's just one of those rides that instantly makes me happy :goodvibes

Turtle Talk really can be different depending on what kinds of questions are asked and what kind of 'mood' Crush is in, sometimes he is more witty than other times.
