Surprised the kids, wife, and my readers w/ a 2 week trip to AoA!(*NEW* 11-7)

thanks kathy, if you want me to send you more of our section i have some that i will post later in the report but if you need help now, i can email you...wait it would help him out so if you dont want them i wont send them.:duck:

Thanks, Dan...I think? ;)

Seriously, I am NOT a fan of the values, but since it is a business trip and we may or may not do a park while there, I'll give him one or two nights so he can be a "kid again." If we were going for vacation, trust me, we wouldn't be staying at a value.

But I'm looking forward to staying a night or two myself after your spectacular pictures.

:welcome: thats awesome, i bet i passed you a few times...i see you have done reports i nthe past, are you doing on for this trip?

well the pics that i posted so far, are from monday sept 24th, so you didnt show up for a few days yet.

Last update left off with us heading to get something at the food court for dinner.

There are 4 main food stations, sadly i dont have many pictures inside the food court as it was usually a you take this kid there and get that, i will go this way and get this ready break.

But i do have pictures of what each station offers food wise.

Lets start left to right when you enter the food court.

Far left has adult beverages, normal drinks, fruits, and so forth...

next section as we move along has your deserts which consist of cupcakes, brownies, pastries, a fantastic mickey ganache chocolate filled goodness desert.

then we come to the area that has the build your own smoothies and gelato ice cream.

then we get to the first main food stand.
they serve

this night candi got the make your own salad, she enjoyed it but had one bad tomato that threw her off the rest of the tomatoes.

then we have a little mini cooler that housed the kids items from the pick two section of the kids menu...which had things from juice boxes, to grapes, to danimals yogarts...

next line is the world of flavors line.

here is there menu.
DSC05649.jpg

later in the trip i tried this location i had the mongolian grill beef stir fry.

the flavor was excellent. i even had it again the last day we were there.

the meals come with rice and the flat bread stuff you see in the picture..i used it to make a beef stir fry with rice taco.:thumbsup2

the portuguese sausage was the same that they had for the breakfast plates, i had it a few times, more flavor than regular, but candi didnt care for them...the chicken dish looked good but never ended up ordering it.

the sides you can pick range from baked cauliflower, to a butternut squash, to a dish that had cheese with spinach...the cheese was good out of here but didnt try the spinach.

so not your typical CS meal, but a nice change of pace from what is normally offered other places.

next we have another large drink cooler before you get to the make your own pasta, and pizza stand.

DSC05651.jpg

there are 3 kinds of pasta to pick from, 3 sauces, 3 meats, and like 10 veggies and things to add...alot of combos and hard to pick.

the line for this was maybe the longest, but for what they do, boil the pasta, cook up the veggy and meat options then add the sauce and hte pasta it took maybe 5 minutes, so seems like a while as you are standing there, but you can stand there and watch them do it all and is sort of fun to watch.
DSC03864.jpg

see lots of workers making your food happen..comes with a large piece of garlic bread that was very good.

actually when i got back to the table mine was missing the chicken, when i took it back up, we found out that someone else took my order so i got theres...no big deal they quickly made me another.

the chicken Alfredo was very good, i had broccoli and chicken in mine with fresh parmesian on top...later in the week i added roasted red peppers and crushed garlic and it made it that much better, candi even added peas to hers and said it was fantastic later in the week...the amount was huge that you got as well, easily stuff one person our make two people comfortable to share.

this station has a seperate line for the pizza and subs to pick up.
the pizza and subs come with side ceaser salads

then we have another mini cooler with adult drinks and kid pick two items and move along to the last option of build your own burger

DSC05650.jpg

i did not have the chicken burger here for dinner but had it as part of a breakfast sandwich twice later in the trip, and have pictures of it...one of the best breakfast sandwiches i have ever had.

moving on to the burgers...i did have the pastrami burger...the burger was great, pastrami not so much a little fatty so didnt eat it all...but the burger was really good.

and parker had the mac and cheese here one day and loved it was very good and more homemade like grandma than anything else you get other places.

food in hand/ or tray it was time to check out...

DSC03865.jpg

can sort of make out the size of the salads and pasta...good size portions.

noelle not happy with the speed of food going in her tummy

somehow parker weasled me out of my desert, and he ended up with the mickey head cupcake
DSC03867.jpg

candi had the gelato, which they stamp your reciept and you can come back up with 90 minutes to claim your desert so it doesnt melt while you eat.

REVIEW OF FOOD.

her salad was good despite the bad tomato but its sort of hard to screw up a salad...wasnt the resort fault the tomato was bad, it happens...

my pasta was very good noelle loved it.

parker enjoyed his food, i think he had pizza that night.

and of course loved my cupcake that little turd, at least i got one of the oreo cookies from the ears as a compromise. im thinking he still won that desert round.:scratchin

REVIEW OF DINING FACILITIES.

thought they were good,
theming was great, each section was one of the four sections of the resort.

some tended to be louder than others with so many people in there.

we found the lion king section was the best it was the farthest away and decent noise level.

one complaint i had and gave it to the research people doing surveys in our section. was the garbage area.

there are 3 bins to put your REAL dishes and silverware when done...very nice...a spot for trays and the smallest trash opening i have ever seen. maybe 4 inches by ten inches long...i get why they have it that small to keep people from just taking there trays and dumping everything in it including the dishes...but it was a pain.

there was usually food on the floor in front of them because they were just too small to get the "garbage" off your plates and stuff fell down.

the CM's i saw said everyone hated them even them, and were hoping they would be fixed...my guess is that they will eventually.

moving on..it was time to explore some more resort.

we head out through the gift shop to the main lobby and take a picture of the awesome chandelier.

DSC03868.jpg

zoomed in there are drawings on the end of each one.

DSC03869.jpg

candi and the kids checking out the artwork on the wall that is by the gift shop.

DSC03870.jpg

there are many cool things to check out there and take in. and i see we were there not even a few hours and parker already has a monorail toy to play with:rolleyes:

DSC03871.jpg

we head off to see cars section.
i have better day time pictures later in the report of a photo tour noelle and i did but that will have to wait. these were all taken with my good camera and no flash at night so wasnt too dissapointed in the picture quality.

greating us we have sarge on one side of the road.

DSC03872.jpg

doc hudson.
DSC03873.jpg

farther down the radiator springs road/path ( i have pictures of this later as well) we run into flo and ramone
DSC03874.jpg

DSC03875.jpg

the entrance to the cozy cone motel pool is the center court yard for this section.

very well detailed and once again more of those coming later in the report...hey i have to keep my readers around somehow.

DSC03876.jpg

then we run into luigis casa della tires, and quido as they welcome you to one of the main doors of the wing.
DSC03877.jpg

continued on in next section...just below a post or two.

:welcome: thats awesome, i bet i passed you a few times...i see you have done reports i nthe past, are you doing on for this trip?

well the pics that i posted so far, are from monday sept 24th, so you didnt show up for a few days yet.

Lol, no I'm not there yet but I'll keep looking.

Yes, I will be doing a trip report! I'm a bit camera crazy so it's basically going to be a picture report with a few words thrown in here or there... ;)

continuation of chapter 6 above.

DSC03878.jpg

fillmore had his own little section here on the side, with a nice sign

DSC03879.jpg

the main entrance to the next wing with the wheel well motel and lightning mcqueen and ms sally at the front.

DSC03880.jpg

DSC03881.jpg

sarge had a surplus store, but of course it wasnt open, im thinking there might have been pool stuff stored in there? never saw it open, but would make a cool stand/drink station or something.
DSC03882.jpg

there were alot of kids outside the next wing entrance where mater was, or as parker calls him ta mater without the ta...in a southern draw.

the kids were climbing all over him and in the back end and such even though the signs said keep off...

so we just got a quick one of him and mater from the front.
DSC03883.jpg

here is a glimps of the nemo section as we were walking back.
DSC03884.jpg

before we left for dinner we had called the front desk to ask for the pack and play that wasnt in the room for noelle, they also asked if we needed a bumper railing for parker in bed...i said sure, she asked if i wanted 1, 2 or 3..i figured one would be fine, candi yelled to me 2, so i told the lady 2 it is...we also asked for a few more shower towels to have handy since we needed those for the pools and water park.

and we were set.

when we get back to the room we see the pack and play, two bumper railings. two sets of the crib sheets which were pretty darn cute so i took a picture of them.
DSC03885.jpg

and good amount of towels.

and a whole mess of soaps and shampoos that i did not ask for, but will gladly take to add to my growing collection.
DSC03888.jpg

with the engraved mickey design.
DSC03889.jpg

and the shampoo bottles.
DSC03891-1.jpg

i love those things and gladly kept whatever the nice mousekeeper put in room each day.

i came home with a decent amount.
DSC05806.jpg

DSC05807.jpg

and we used those things each day for showering up...this is what was left over.

our luggage arrived about 8:30 and we quickly organized and unpacked our stuff.

i texted with amy from the dis or onescgirl, as we were hoping to meet up this trip sometime as they were just across the lake from us at POP, but our schedules never worked out sadly.

they were in DTD that night at disneyquest, and our kids were tired and ready for bed.

kids showered and ready for bed it was my turn to shower with aerial in the grotto, umm i mean her underwater laier? ohh nevermind, not sure what to call it.:scratchin

showered up in the cool tub with the pretty things on the wall that keep you entertained looking for more hidden mickeys to outdue the other family members.:thumbsup2

hidden mickey count candi 1 rest of us a big fat 0

and to finish off this chapter noelle found a cute baby to kiss in the room. and spent about 10 minutes doing this.
DSC03890.jpg

till next time hope you guys enjoy the rest of our evening on arrival day.

Lol, no I'm not there yet but I'll keep looking.

Yes, I will be doing a trip report! I'm a bit camera crazy so it's basically going to be a picture report with a few words thrown in here or there... ;)

nothing wrong with that at all, sometimes it is hard to remember what happened and when and it is easier to just post pictures...me on the other hand i have a memory that can tell you the conversations i had with others years and years ago...and what we did.

on the other hand, most of the time cant remember someones name for the life of me.
:rotfl:

looking forward to the report...drop me a line on here when u start it so i can read along.

WOW! That's a lot of shampoo and soap!

The dining area for AoA looks great. Seems like they offer different options than the normal fare. I think I would have the build your own pasta almost every night! Then I would've gained another 5 pounds LOL.

I love the smile Parker is giving you in the picture with the cupcake. It's like he KNEW he weaseled you out of it haha.

The pictures of the Cars section turned out great!

Didn't you just love the Cars section ?? We took a lot of photos there as well. We didn't stay there, but went over to take a look and to have dinner at the food court. We didn't have time to see the Lion King or Mermaid section. It is a really neat resort !!!

very cool, maybe if we get one of the parents to stay in the hotel with us we will pull that off some trip...just not sure when.

looking forward to hearing what you think of it.

Your review of the food and the pictures are great!!:thumbsup2

Can't wait on line check in tomorrow!!:cool1: :drive:

What an amazing resort. I love the cars section. Had no idea it had each car.

Food looks great too!

You have some collection of soaps. Love the Mickey heads.

Your daughter is precious. Love her with the mirror.

My children would be so jealous of your soap collection. They loved getting a brand new bar of Mickey soap every day.

You are just an updating machine, Dan.

Loved the food court (and the food looks yummy too). And the CARS section is just so cool. I bet all the little boys are going to want that section (about time they did something a little more geared to the boys).

The sheets for the pack and play are adorable...so glad you took a picture of them.

Many of the things in the food court sound good. The create your own salad option is great. I wish more resorts had that. I like the new design of the shampoos. I hope I get them when we go next week. Can't wait to see more pictures! I would love to stay there one day.

My grandson would love the Cars section and the Nemo section! It would be hard to choose one (if you got a choice, that is!)

Your daughter is so adorable kissing the "other" cute baby :goodvibes Your pics are really great! Love the one with you and your son standing by Lightning and Miss Sally :) My fav is of your wife holding Noelle with Parker looking at the pics on the wall - she looks so much like my daughter who lives 3,000 miles away from me now that I moved to CA. I am hoping they can come out for a visit next Fall so I can take them to Disneyland to see the new Cars Land.

Great food court info!

Love the crib sheets for the pack and play. Sorry they didn't have it in your room. I had indicated that you wanted one. I really don't think they even look at stuff like that most of the time. It's annoying.

i came home with a decent amount.
DSC05806.jpg

DSC05807.jpg

:lmao: Ray and I just cracked up over these! Good grief.....score!

kids showered and ready for bed it was my turn to shower with aerial in the grotto, umm i mean her underwater laier? ohh nevermind, not sure what to call it.:scratchin

:rotfl:

and to finish off this chapter noelle found a cute baby to kiss in the room. and spent about 10 minutes doing this.
DSC03890.jpg

So cute! :goodvibes

HEY!!! :wave2:

Dawn sent me over :thumbsup2

our TA dawn knew.

Don't ya just LOVE her!??! :goodvibes

he asked what it was out for, candi just said it is easier to store away our summer clothes in and get out or winter stuff...he bought it.

Oh my word!! I LOVE IT!!! And I will have to remember this if we ever are sneaking surprise time to disney!

Can't wait to read more! Glad you are doing the TR!

Food court looks awesome!!

Create your own pasta sounds great :thumbsup2

Love all pics outside. We visited AOA one afternoon and I walked around snapping some pics. It really is so cool out there.

Love the cars area :goodvibes
