Disney Cruise Brides!!! Part Deux!!

Start with social security. There's a form online for name change. You'll have to bring your current card, the form and the marriage license.

They will give you paperwork to show you filed a name change and mail you a new card. I took the paperwork to the dmv to change my license. But my work wouldn't file the name change until I got the new ss card in the mail a couple weeks later.

For bills and credit cards it depended on the company. Some would just change it over the phone without proof. Some would make me fill out paperwork and mail/fax copies of my new ss card, drivers license and marriage license.

Hope this helps!

::yes:: It's a step in the right direction! Thanks!

Oh yeah! I already forgot about the reason I came here! I wanted to ask advice from ALREADY married brides- my VR's and my more recent brides...

I haven't even BEGUN the process of having my name changed and I'm clueless as to where I should begin! I figured that I should first go to the social security office, then to the DMV to get my drivers license and car registration. I only JUST received my official copy of our wedding license (necessary in the state of Florida for name change) and now I'm stuck. Don't know where to start!

Any help or advice you can give me is GREATLY appreciated! I feel so lost!

Hi Jillian-

Do I remember that far back (17 years) and things were so different then. I did start with my social security card first and then the driver license and then the bank. Back then I only to call the credit card company. Basically what Aimee posted.
I had gone to our safe deposit box to get Zachary's birth certificate out and saw our wedding license. It was all yellow!! I took it to make a copy of it just to have an extra one.

hi, does anyone have any photos that the dcl wedding photographer took or any links to pictures that got taken by them just so i have an idea of what they look like (good?bad) or any ideas
as thinking of booking the disney cruise line photography package,
i know i have heard mixed reviews on them but not seen many photos to see what they look like,
many thanks,

Princess Toria-
I am using them for my upcoming VR. I can post some pics when I'm back. I purchased the smallest package. I'm also going to see if there's a photographer I know when I get onboard and request them.

ahh that would be great, thankyou, we're not getting married until may 2013 on the disney dream, are you on the disney dream and when is your VR?

I finally got my invitations done and mailed!!! They're only 2 months late...but oh well right?

Thank you guys! I talked to Meredith, and the only option she was able to assure us for a dance party in the evening would be a conference room. Has anyone ever seen the insides of a conference room on the Disney Dream?

Our wedding is to be 10am on the beach at castaway cay, and then I think we're going to skip the whole cake/champagne reception thing in favour of letting our guests enjoy the island and us take a 7 hour advantage of our ridiculously expensive photographer (future husband is a wedding photographer himself and VERY picky over who he'd pick to do his own). Later that evening once the boat has set sail we were hoping to all have showered/eaten/cleaned up and begin the dancing and drinking. We've got about 90 people coming who are theatening to dance until the sun comes up regardless of if we get our own room, but it would be nice to have somewhere private for at least an hour.

Lastly, a final option is to hold an event prior to or after the cruise. I'm having a Wishes dessert party at the Grand Floridian the night before embarkation. Even though it's before the wedding (we're calling it a Welcome Party), DF and I are treating it as a mini-reception. Everyone's going to dress up, and we're having desserts, a BOC bar, music, decorations, and maybe even some speeches. If you're interested in doing something like this, feel free to look at my PJ for how I went about this, and contact Meredith to put you in touch with the right people at DFTW.

^ This might be a good option as well - I will ask husband-to-be his thoughts! Thanks for the suggestion!!!!!

Hi Everyone ... was hoping to get a suggestion.
I was doing this as my favor, but was told that I am can't have real shells, they can only be fake/plastic. Can I use the ones at the craft stores? Or any other suggestions?

I haven't seen small manmade shells. But I did get starfish and some other shells that look like they are real but are man made. I purchased them in bulk while in fl. You may want to run an online search.

Why can't you use real shells?

Probably worried about importing/contamination. I also heard from friends of the family that you could not ship shells from the US to Europe that you had found on the beach :confused3 That caught us all off guard, we had never heard that before.

You should be able to use the ones from the craft stores or from online.

I had read somewhere that others had problems bringing back shells, while others had no problems. I wanted to be sure that we wouldn't have any problems.

My question to Meredith: For our favors, we would like to give our guest an ornament filled with seashells. Please see the picture attached for an example. The ornaments are plastic, not glass. I have read in the past that shells have either been an issue, while others have had no problems. We want to be sure that our guests do not have any issues or problems.

Meredith's response: "Those favors are so cute! As long as the shells are plastic (not real) then there should be no issue."

Hi,

If you really want the one hour why not have everyone get back together in outlook for cake cutting for an hour and then have them spend the rest of the day on Castaway Cay that way you also get to take some pics onboard while everyone is at the beach. Just a thought but truthfully with a party your size you could stake out a section of a club in the evening and still be good.

Just had a Magical wedding on the Disney Magic 10-13-2012! It was perfect! I could not have asked for more. I would recommend it to anyone.:thumbsup2

True! Did you find that was a lot of time wasted though? Going all the way back to the ship to cut some cake and then go all the way back to the beach for pictures?

The problem we are having is that we want to have a nighttime dance party where we choose our own songs and drink. It seems that's not going to happen, althought I'm surprised they won't let us rent a room for that. I know several of them won't be in use from 6-10pm from past cruise experiences and recent navigators! :confused3

They did say we could have a conference room, and I've asked someone to take a picture of the inside of one for me since I can't seem to find any online! It may or may not be an option, I'm not sure.

It looks like we're going to have a reception the night before the boat leaves instead. Rent some kind of ballroom for a couple of hours and have speeches and dancing/partying before.

My wedding hasn't come up yet. So I can't speak from direct experience. I also am having onboard ceremony. I really want to keep my ceremony more intimate and have a more evening feel. I also really want guests to be able to enjoy the day on CC.
