O.M.G. That cupcake looks phenomenal!!! It has been added to the list for our upcoming trip. 11 days and counting!! I get to do online checkin TOMORROW!!!:cool1::banana::cool1::banana:

Okay, I'm laughing at myself right now--I went back to take a closer look at your pics from the pastry case and in looking at the signs I said to myself, "what's 'kabinet wax' and why is there two trays of it?" Um, yeah, the little sheets they use to pick up the pastires, doh!:lmao::rotfl::laughing: I thought it was an item sign!

Don't feel bad. I did the same thing!!! :rotfl:

Here’s probably the perfect place to admit that we did not return to Sunshine Seasons the remainder of our trip. Therefore, for #9 of Jabead’s List of 18 for which she was trying to get me to expand my horizons…
9) Try the blueberry croissant bread pudding at Sunshine Seasons - I failed this task. It is still on my “one day” list but it would call for us getting our hineys to Epcot before breakfast service ends. That’s a challenge when I travel with certain individuals who prefer sleep over breakfast many times.

Ahh...such a pity you didn't get to try the croissant bread pudding, Brenda. :sad2: But I understand perfectly about traveling with individuals who prefer sleep over breakfast. Because of this, and because you chose a very yummy looking cupcake rather than having a healthy banana ...

I hereby award you one bonus point, bringing your total to 24

OMGosh I have to admit that I noticed the kabinet wax too and I had to think about it for a second!! :rotfl:

What a great unexpected dessert and banana stop (btw, I don't consider a banana to be dessert!)!! I love coconut and pineapple so I would love to try this cupcake! :thumbsup2

Also, good job on your running by the way!!! 5 days a week is awesome. My problem is that I'm too lazy to wake up early to run (that and my face stays red for like, 2 hours! and that would look weird at work!) and then when I get home from work it's starting to get dark! I will figure something out though. ;) Keep up the good work. I'm currently taking a shin splints break but hope to be up and running (literall) again soon!

I don't think I would ever eat a side of spinach for breakfast. I can certainly understand why you would assume the spinach would be in the eggs. And there sure were a lot of tomatoes on those eggs. Sorry the dish didn't turn out as you'd hoped.

Brenda, I think I can give you some advice about what to order next time you breakfast at the Wave. In your buffet pictures there are "Sticky Mickey Buns." That sounds awesome and yet weird at the same time.;)

That cupcake looks delicious! How will I ever choose which cupcakes to eat on my next trip?! There have been too many good reviews of the cupcakes lately, and I will need to save some of my snack credits for my favorites, like the jalapeno cheese pretzel. ::yes::

Those goodies look awfully yummy (although I don't like coconut or pineapple so yours would not do the trick).

I love that pineapple coconut cupcake! Three strikes for the Wave now, too bad. :(

I love how thorough you are with the buffet pics, Brenda. You always manage to show the entire selection.

The Wave breakfast you guys had looks delicious & everything seems like healthy choices. The more I read about the Wave the more I like!!! I would enjoy any of those 3 meals. :goodvibes

Mmmmmm that coconut pineapple cupcake looks like a great find!!!

I'm so glad you enjoyed that cupcake! It wasn't my favorite, but it was enjoyable enough to inspire my over-the-top cupcake crawl. :rotfl: It didn't have a filling, but I don't think it needed one. :thumbsup2

Isn't it inspirational?? :thumbsup2 Thanks for clarifying if anything was in the middle... for the life of me I couldn't recall seeing any but then again I forgot that it was Boss' Day today so guess what my boss got? Nada! (silly Hallmark holiday!)

Ooh that is a mighty fine looking cupcake :cloud9:

Mighty fine indeed!

My regret for last trip was not trying enough cupcakes! I had vowed to try the berry bread pudding in November but now I may have to have that cupcake instead! Or jeez, maybe both! :thumbsup2 ;)

I hear a little voice saying have BOTH!

Wow! You are so close to your trip!!! How exciting! Yes, add that to your list and tell us how it was.

Cupcake break - yum!!! And whoopie pies, oh my, must look for those next time:hyper:!

There's so many things on my list to try.... maybe I need to just have a snacking trip in my future!

Thanks Barb!! I do recall you have a few daughters that you had to bribe to have at least 1 sit down breakfast! Next time... we'll give it another try!

Tracy you have to try that cupcake if you love coconut and pineapple. Hmmm... I'm thinking pina coladas now.

Sorry about the shin splits - hope they heal soon.

That is great advice Rachel!! Em's trying to get me to go with the waffle... we'll see.

I have yet to try the jalepeno cheese pretzel but it sounds sooooo good! I can't help you with the choices - there are way too many to make a decision!! :lmao:

Yay for cupcakes!! If only I could try one of each :worship:

I so agree! :thumbsup2

Those goodies look awfully yummy (although I don't like coconut or pineapple so yours would not do the trick).

how about a red velvet or a chocolate mocha? I'm sure we can hook you up with one of those! :rotfl:

Thanks Rosey! I just stand in front of the food with my camera and tell people to stand back - that's why I get so many photos! :lmao:

The lunch menu sure looks really good. Mr. DDW is a fan and since his reviews from July I've really wanted to try a different meal there.

Yes, that cupcake was delish!

Le Cellier Lunch

DSC04249.jpg

Le Cellier is one of the restaurants that have consistently delighted us; therefore we have returned every trip. The only problem with this place is that I love the mushroom filet and until they remove it from their menu I think I’m in danger of a dining repeat time and time again! Rather like Groundhog Day for filets!

We showed up right on time for our 1:25 ADR and didn’t have a long wait before our table was ready. We were seated far in the back of the restaurant – I had never been seated that far into the restaurant – I have no idea how many providences we traversed to get to our table! I’m not even sure they still tell you which “providence” you are seated…they didn’t say and we didn’t ask!

Waiting...

Jill was our awesome server and started us with the always incredible pretzel bread and sourdough and multigrain rolls. We have nothing against the sourdough and multigrain rolls but the pretzel bread sticks have our hearts – and our tastebuds! A little butter smeared on the breadstick was a bit of heaven! I was hoping that Michael would keep his paws off the bread since he was on such a healthy eating kick but he actually ate one of the breadsticks and liked it. (I hate to ask for seconds since it just shows my lack of self-control.)

DSC04274.jpg

For drinks I started my dining experience with a pina colada. It’s not even remotely representative of Canada but I was craving a pineapple coconut drink. Hmmm… I wonder if my cupcake from Sunshine Seasons influenced me??

Frozen Pina Colada: $7.50

We ordered appetizers; the Duck confit crepe for Michael, and a cup of the Cheddar Cheese soup for moi! Em skipped the apps. Michael’s crepe was savory and rich in flavor. He was completely satisfied with this choice although it was on the small side but I suppose that is why it is an appetizer and not an entree. We were googling “confit” since we were not entirely certain what it meant. We still don’t know.

I’m a big fan of the soup and this time it didn’t disappoint. It has a nice tangy spicy flavor. The beer brings a dimension to the soup that I totally appreciate.

Now here’s the thing… I seriously wanted to mark off my List of 18 from Jabead that I had tried something other than the mushroom filet. I was even given a pass if Em ordered something other than the filet and I tried it. However, as much as I cajoled Em to split two entrees with me that didn’t work out because the kid was intent on getting the mushroom filet as well. At that point it was better to say that I failed rather than order something that just didn’t meet my expectations for the amazing filet.

For his entrée, Michael stuck with a light choice and ordered a second appetizer, the Roasted Prince Edward Island Mussels. He declared that the mussels were one of the best things that he ate all trip! He liked the spiciness and freshness of flavor and yes, he even ate most of the toasted crostini.

Roasted Prince Edward Island Mussels: $11.99

It’s no surprise that mushroom filets were placed in front of Em and I! Em decided to substitute the cream cheese mashed potatoes in lieu of the mushroom risotto. She much preferred that option. I stayed with the standard risotto since I don’t think any substitute will make me any happier!
I ate about 1/2 of this amazing dish and then handed the rest over to Michael. I completely expected him to sing and dance when he tasted the buttery tender filet and the risotto but he ate the steak and left the risotto. I was only slightly annoyed that I had gifted him with this wonderful opportunity to try this signature dish and he didn’t react as I had anticipated. After coaxing for more of a verbal response other than a shrug and saying it was ok, he said it was what he would expect for a filet doused with a truffle butter. Ok, left unsatisfied with his lack of enthusiasm, I just let that one go since Jill had presented us with dessert menus so I was now thoroughly distracted.

I can’t believe that no one wanted to eat dessert – that’s a first for us at Le Cellier. (Maple crème brulee rules!) I didn’t want to continue touring Epcot feeling a like a food baby was dwelling inside me so I passed.

Our sweet server presented us with glasses of champagne with a floating raspberry in celebration of our anniversary. How thoughtful! Since Michael does not drink alcohol I did the only polite thing and drank both! Nice finish to a meal!

DSC04286.jpg

The bill, with $18.93 in TiW savings, was $97.68.

Le Cellier, I can’t wait to return and do this meal all over again! However, next time, I hope a maple crème brulee is in my future!

For Jabead’s #8 on the List of 18: Have something other than the filet at Le Cellier (I’ll count it if Emily does and shares – I failed; however, because I am blissfully ignorant of any other amazing entrees on the menu, I don’t regret this failure! (Barb: Do I points deducted if I refuse to complete a task?)

What a great lunch at Le cellier. Even now, 5 years after the event, Le Cellier stands out in our memories as one of the most amazing meals we've had at WDW.

For the record, 'confit' is a method of preparation and cooking, where the item in question (usually a leg where duck or goose is concerned) has been cooked slowly, completely submerged, in its own fat. It is then cooled and stored until needed in that same fat. It is then cooked again in whatever process the recipe calls for - presumably, in this case, stripped from the bone and prepared together with veggies, sauce and the like.

Level lire used to be our favorite meal in Disney....until last year's dinner there with our son, Andy. But your review had me itching to go back. I do live that soup and Em's filet with those magnificent potatoes are calling my name.

What an amazing review to wake up to this morning! Le Cellier is our favorite restaurant! :cool1: The first time we went I had to try the legendary filet and I have not been able to try one other entree ever since and I'm ok with that. Eilee had the New York strip the first time (and ate the entire thing at age 9) but once she tried the filet she was hooked. I would say that if you were going to lose some points for refusing a task, this was the right way to do it!!

Ooooooh I love the mushroom filet, so much. I'm not big on steak, but I'm HUGE on mushrooms and truffles, and the sauce and risotto are just amazing. I remember the second time we ate there, I convinced my DH to order the filet because I couldn't stop raving about it from the first meal. He liked it ok, but he really didn't love it, and that just totally blew my mind! Maybe there's some sort of taste bud deficiency in our guys! :lmao:

I of course will not deduct points! However, if you had wasted that lovely glass of champagne, I would have strongly considered it. :lmao:

And by the way...another great family photo! :thumbsup2
