What do u take into parks

I know there is a thread in another forum but campers are special so i want to see what fort people carry with them into the parks.

I can make a list of things I "should" take into parks, or "have" taken into parks.

When my kids were younger, we always took daughter's jogging stroller with the camera, a towel, a tote bag of sun block, sun glasses, little kids change of clothes, change of shirt for mama (kids spill on me too), and jackets if we expected cooler weather. If I remembered, I would freeze half a bottle of water and fill up the other half of the bottle before leaving for the park. Oh Chewing Gum! It is not sold in the parks as Disney doesn't like to scrap it off the sidewalks. If the kids are small, maybe a few snacks to hold them between meals, but the smell of popcorn usually lures us to the popcorn snack stand. LOL.

1) We believe an ounce in the morn is a pound in the afternoon.
2) We travel to the parks light, light, light.
. . . wife's fanny pack for small items *
. . . a tiny tube of sunblock
. . . the KTTW card for charging
. . . $5-$10 in cash
. . . we wear our sunglasses
. . . parasol for wife (helps with heat and sunburns)
. . . small digital camera in belt holster
3) We do not carry
. . . ID's or insurance cards, as you can get them later if needed
. . . cell phone , as we are vacation can can't see a benefit or need
. . . backpack, as the weight gets bad later in the day

* Works great. She now has carried this in seven different countries and
it always carries just enough of the stuff we need.

I need this info because in 2007 when I was there DD had just turned 5 and I brought her Jeep Stroller which had 2 side bags and an understorage.

Do I need a small flashlight for night time returns to our campsite?

Chap stick, germ lotion, wet wipes, rain poncho, gum, camera, batteries, sun glasses. If it might get cool a jacket, if it's hot a travel size deodorant.

CAVEAT:
1) Make sure you take the "friendship boat" cruiser to WL and MK.
2) You can roll the stroller on-board.
3) For the launch to Contemporary you MUST fold the stroller to get on.

I take very little & carry a small backpack (it folds up & fits in my pocket). In it I only have GermX (which we use a lot of there), small tube of sunblock, drops for my contacts, camera & a very small wallet. I also keep in our camper & take when needed packable/disposable rain jackets ( you can buy them in the camping section @ target, etc. ). They are packed very small & can fit in your pocket.
I have a lot of space in my backpack but by the time we leave it is almost always full because I stuff anything I purchase, etc. into it.

On the theme park and attractions forum I keep reading that I should take in body glide and moleskin. Any thoughts on this?

(I guess I didn't notice that AK didn't have straws when we were there in 2007. Does this have something to do with the animals?)

We take a backpac as well, Freeze the water bottles the night before and it keeps the lunch you pack,tuna,chicken or peanut butter & jelly cold.Water defrosted by then to drink.Snacks for later and jackets or sweaters for later.
Mom OR DAD carry a small purse over the shoulder for tickets, money,and camera. Now your ready to go!

Yes, straws pose a danger to animals if they happen to make their way into the animal cages (dropped on ground, wind blows).

I take a sports bottle and powdered drink mix (Crystal Light Peach Tea, for instance) and refill at the water fountains. I also take nuts and chocolate to snack on. If you freeze a bottle of water as suggested, small yoghurts will stay cool for several hours. Hard candy is nice to have for long waits in line.

In hot weather, those small misting fans are great. In cooler weather, gloves and a hat for late night (ok, I'm a native Floridian, and we think anything below 75 degrees is cold!).

I take a rain poncho and a mini-umbrella. The umbrella can provide shade as well as protection from rain and wind.

It is also nice to have something cushiony to sit on, so you can rest wherever you find a spot. You can fold a small blanket for that, which can double as a picnic blanket, or have a small cushion that fits in the back pack. I don't go often, so when I do, I stay from opening to closing and that makes for a long day.

We bring a lot, but we're also packing differently than we would if it were just DH and I.

In a backpack goes:
Diapers/Wipes, water bottles (we bring 6 full sized Contigo/Camelback water bottles but only 2 go into the backpack), extra clothing for the 3 littlest, snacks, camera, tickets, room keys, a smaller bag with necessities (lip balm, diaper cream, sunscreen, bandaids, first aid kit, etc...), Ponchos, umbrella, . Everything has it's own pocket or is put into a smaller bag.

Then we have an extra bag that we put our lunches into (we love bento boxes for lunches). That hangs from the stroller. Then under the stroller goes any water bottle that wouldn't fit into the backpack. As we eat lunch we stack the bento boxes, which makes room in the large bag for anything we buy.

I also always have a wrap (or two) with me that we can carry the babies in, then use as a blanket or picnic blanket as needed. I've even used them as towels before. We have a Valco Twin Runabout triple stroller, so plenty of space to hang things from the back or put underneath. My favorite bags for Disney (just in case any other moms are looking for an awesome disney diaper bag backpack) are from Ju-Ju-Be. They have a backpack named BeRightBack (BRB) that holds everything, still has room for more and never gets heavy or uncomfortable. Highly recommended if you are looking for something to take into the parks with kids. They aren't cheap, but very well made and last and last. Then when we stop for a ride or something I grab the backpack from the stroller and everything else stays with it.

If you don't like the water at the fountains, they will give a cup of water to you FREE at any restaurant or food stand. I use that to refill my water bottles and if I want something w/ some flavor, I add in a flavor pack such as Crystal Light or Mio. I freeze the Uncrustables pb&j sandwhiches for my 10yr old and then pull them out in the morning we go and put them in our backpack.....they are thawed by the time lunch comes. Uncrustables is what the park serves for the pb&j kids meal sandwiches and at $5-$6 for a kids meal, bringing the Uncrustables is MUCH cheaper. I also bring frozen grapes (WONDERFUL when it's hot outside-they're like little slushes), granola bars and chips for snacks. I would advise bringing a small flash light if you're going to return to the campground at night since the little critters come out and you don't trip on anything. We also go by the dollar store or Walmart and get rain ponchos.

To us just about all Florida water has an aftertaste. We'll cook with it but we'll just drink bottled water.

We pack a lunch into the theme parks to save on dining dollars. We use a soft-sided backpack cooler filled with sandwiches, chips, sliced fruit, etc and rent a storage locker for it until mealtime. No glass bottles (except baby food is permitted), no alchohol of course. We do have to go through the bag inspection lines before entering the park.

It's worth it for us.

Is the water at Disney bad? I keep seeing where people ship water to there resort. I was planing on just refilling our drink bottles as needed in the parks.

We don't like to carry water bottles so just get CS ice water cups when needed (don't find the filtered water tastes bad). We also bring a couple *Pure Lemon* packets and sprinkle a little in the water to vary the flavor sometimes. We are not big soda drinkers.

DH's phone serves as a flashlight when returning to FW. I carry a small cross body bag with ID, AP, small amount of cash, lip baum, lotion, gum,and that's just about it. If the weather is threatening rain, also include mini umbrellas (hate ponchos). We are not big on running around in the heavy rain.
