Surprised the kids, wife, and my readers w/ a 2 week trip to AoA!(*NEW* 11-7)

Great start. I am here now at Pop and Thursday we move to AofA.

Funny about Parkers response to the surprise.

Will read more when I get home next week.
hope yo uhave one of those burritos, we went there for lunch one day and loved it...would eat that again in a heart beat.

hope you enjoy your time at AoA...the make your own pasta station was really good we enjoyed that a few times. and of course the grounds were amazing.

You have a very cute family. I am looking forward to following along.
:welcome: thanks for finding us and reading along.

and thanks for the kind words about the family.

Fun surprises! I think maybe Parker was afraid to believe it was really Disney, in case he was wrong and would be disappointed. What a cute guy he is!

I love Candi's toe wiggling! :rotfl2: How fun you got to surprise her with such a special stay! Everyone looks appropriately excited during the transportation part. Looking forward to more!
well that and i think with us telling him for the last 6 months when he was asking to go that we had to wait till noelle was alot bigger and maybe after christmas etc...had his mind thinking that no we were not going.

she had no idea that she was doing that when i pointed it out to her later.

Great start cant wait to read the rest the kis are so cute
:welcome: thanks for the comments and reading along with us.

I like the treasure hunt idea. I am going to have to steal it for the future!
feel free to steal away, he loved the map, since he is so into pirates and maps and treasure now.

Joining in for the fun! You did a great job keeping everything a surprise for so long!! Looking forward to hearing about AoA!
:welcome: thanks,

the AoA still will start in the next chapter. i will see if i have time later today to work on it.

Man, with all that tension building with the surprises for the trip, I'm surprised you got a good nights sleep! I would have been tossing and turning myself.

Crafty Parker acting like he didn't know what it said. LOL.

Nice that the surprise for Candi went exactly as you had anticipated. That must have felt awesome.

Nice Super DAD being able to maneuver so much luggage! Very nicely done.
not sure why we slept so good, normally we are toss and turners the night before a big trip.

he can be a stinker thats for sure.

it felt great, and her reaction was priceless to me.

you do sort of feel like you have a few superpowers, and when other people in the airport point out how well you are doing because of it.:thumbsup2
Subbing in... We are surprising the kids this year with a trip, so I am excited to hear how your trip went...
:welcome:

kudos on planning a surprise. when are you going and where are you staying?

Finally here and all caught up.

Love the surprise and the video of Candi brought tears to my eyes.

So much to look at over at AoA. I took a ton pf pictures too. :goodvibes
Hey pat :welcome:

i remember when you were there early this summer marv had sent me a picture you took there, to show me some progress...

it is a place where you can use up a memory stick. ;)

Nice job with the surprise! Sorry you didn't get the reaction you wanted from the kids, but you could console yourselves by traveling to Disney World. :thumbsup2

So glad you were able to surprise your wife. That looks like it went over really well. Nice work!

very true, any remorse over the surprise was soon pushed to the side since the happy place was just a mear plan hop away.

yes, it went over very good with the wife she really enjoyed it.

happy tears are always good.

Chapter 4. Wrong way dummy

we had landed and stopped for a rest room break so me and noelle conversed. while candi changed parker into some shorts for the reminder of the day.
DSC03786.jpg

Shortly after we found our way to an empty "fake" monorail to the adults, but still an "awesome" monorail for the kids ride to the main buidling.

parker was jumping with joy at the monorail ride we were about to take.

so being the clever dad I am we went to the very front so the kids would have a good view of what was in front of them.

DSC03790-1.jpg

you would think this was my first time in disney, and i would not make this mistake again...the guy in the red is even a little foreshadowing of where we SHOULD be going.
DSC03792.jpg

but nope i said this way family the right is where we need to be. so down the elevator we go.

i get out and see car rental as far as i can see.:headache:

back up the elevator, and to the left side we go...but it gave us the opportunity to stop in front of the mickey store sign.
DSC03793.jpg

word of advice, go past security and hang a LEFT at the mickey store, this will take you ME and mickey.

a quick trip down the elevators on that side, and we are starting to see mickey heads...so naturally i tell parker, hey buddy those mickey heads on the floor will take us to the mickey bus.

Parker "i know dad"

i love how four year olds already know it all:laughing:
DSC03794-1.jpg

there were zero people in any of the lines so after the nice CM scanned our tags and told us to have a great trip, we entered line 6 and were on our way to the front of the line.
DSC03795.jpg

but did this mean we would have the empty bus in front of us waiting, or a full bus that people already have filled up and emptied our line.

we were lead outside to a bank of busses waiting, not a regular resort, bus but still a cruise line bus...and thankgoodness it wasnt a yellow mears bus.
DSC03796.jpg

we entered the bus and it was completely empty, yeah baby front row...parker was pumped, so we claimed our seats in front and began the wait to fill the bus up, maybe 10 minutes we waited till we off.

DSC03798.jpg

since we have been married this was the longest we have taken between trips 2 years and a few months, it seemed like forever and we were glad to be just a short bus ride away from our favorite vacation spot.

noelle spent the time waiting to take off, by going through her purse and getting her lotion on and prepping for her big adventure

DSC03800.jpg

her big adventure consisted of falling asleep as soon as the bus began to roll
DSC03804.jpg

parker was thrilled to watch the welcome video.

and pretty soon we were exiting the freeway and i started to see some familiar sights.

the time of day made for some uncomfortable sitting to get this shot, as i had to sit and slouch down with my mid back pretty much on the bottom coushin of the seat since the sun visor was down so far...but still turned out pretty good. and soon enough we were rolling under this bad boy.

DSC03807.jpg

now for the next surprise...just kidding dear we are not staying at AoA but AKL
:cool1:

DSC03811.jpg

just seeing if you guys were awake, or skipping through.

actually we stopped here and let one guy off didnt even have a carry on luggage...must not have been many people going to AKL then for its own bus, so they let him hitch a ride with us.

so now back to our regular route, and we are soon heading into our resort.

DSC03812.jpg

and the welcome booth
DSC03813.jpg

noelle was mildly impressed with the signage

DSC03814.jpg

i have a much better picture later in the trip of the resort sign, but this will do for now.

DSC03815.jpg

since we are in the front row, we are the first ones off, and maybe 10 other people get off with us...the driver gets our stowed bags and stroller from under the motorcoach and i turn to find the wife and kids at the little welcome stand on the entrancway.

he had given candi anniversary pins for me and here, seeing as it was our anniversary the day before, and part of the reason we choose the dates. 6 years prior we were arriving at CBR for our honeymoon.

he gave noelle a 1st visit pin, and when asked what parker was celebrating we tried to come up with something clever, but we couldn't so he just gave him a pin that said he could celebrate whatever he wanted.

he was a very nice man and a great greeter for the resort.

DSC03816.jpg

just past his stand was a few easels set up for kids to do drawings on of characters and enter them into the drawing of the day...we never got around to going back to do this.
DSC03818.jpg

his stand also had little paint cans of paint puzzles the ids could help him work on, as well as pick out there very own puzzle to take home with them free of charge...parker passed up his favorit blue color and picked out a red...he would here nothing of us putting the puzzle in our bag or carrying it for him. he didnt put it down or even let us see it until we got to our room...he loved that thing, and was very proud to now own it.

DSC03820.jpg

we then headed inside to check in and see the rest of the resort.

well nuts, i didnt mean to not get this chapter through check in, but im at the image limit for now...so will have to do the next update tomorrow of the picture tour to our rooms, but at least you got to see some of the resort.:thumbsup2

from time to time this trip, i will have some sound bites, or questions i asked parker during our trip...

"parker, what did you feel when we told you we were going to disney today?"

"happy"

"What did you think about the bus?"

"good"
i didnt say it was prize journalism or in depth conversations, but those were his answers.

Hello :) I'm checking in and enjoying your report. Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip:thumbsup2

Late but I'm here! Congrats on getting the surprise off! Can't believe that Noelle is already a year old!

Great update, Dan. I love the picture when you are "conversing" with Noelle while Candy was getting Parker dressed.

You got a GREAT picture of the entrance to Disney World...and you get a big :thumbsup2

Love the sign in front of the new resort.

The ME conundrum at MCO. Everyone always going the wrong way. :rotfl2:

Cruise line bus definitely trumps a Mears bus. I can't stand getting a Mears bus.

Kids always get to the point. :lmao: "good", "fine", "k". :rotfl2:

;)

We are going Jan 31 for 10 nights. We are staying at AKL Kidani Village. I am so excited, first time at a deluxe resort. We love Disney so much...my kids are 10 and 7 and ask almost every day if we can go back. I told my daughter (10) that we can go back on her 13th birthday...haha instead of almost 3 months from now. On top of it we will be there for my husbands birthday so I am going to book the terrance dessert firework party when it becomes available for him. He loves watching fireworks and has a big sweet tooth...so excited for this trip.

I don't know how you held it in without telling them is beyond me. I almost slipped once, I was able to recover though. :O

Should we tell them at Christmas or wait until the morning of? I think that if we can hold it in that long we should wait until the morning of????

Can't wait to see some room pics

Hurry up :rotfl2:

Just kidding, maybe :upsidedow

We got the mears bus and it wasn't that bad as it still had the disney videos at least

I love the cruise busses with the porthole windows.

Hopefully I will remember to go to the correct side tomorrow night when I land...although I think from MY airline...it's right. Almost positive.

:rotfl2:

I do always double check though

What a fun check in. I love that they gave you pins right there and those easels and paint puzzles are adorable, what lovely little touches.

Pretty darn good sign pic.

Glad to see you ended up at AoA...not AKL.

Love the sign in front of the new resort.
she is kind of photogenic.;)

it was pretty easy to get a good one being in the front seat and all, even with the slouch down method i had to work with.

i think the thing that throws some people is that there are different sides you come in from so one trip you might enter the main terminal from one side, and go one way and another trip go another way.

i think he just wanted meto shut up so he could enjoy the bus ride and the movie.

the desert party sounds like alot of fun, i would like to do that when the kids get older.

i almost slipped a few times as well, but was able to recover.

i think it is up to you, if you think you might slight and not be able to hold it in anyway then maybe tell them at christmas, maybe have something wrapped up that they can open...or a few small presents that they open in between others that when they put them all together, they give the clues to the trip, but seperate they have no idea what they mean

or just wait till the morning of.:)

patience, will you:) ill get there.:rotfl:

we have also had the mears before and while it still takes you where you need to be, it is also a bonus to get the disney bus.
:thumbsup2

one trip we had the mears and they didnt have the disney video which was a major bummer.

i think what gets me, is one time we arrived on the opposite side of the terminal and thus went right so it is always in my head to go right.

i guess a good rule is if you enter the main terminal and are in the open area where the hotel is head to the left, if you are on the other side, of the main terminal head to the right.:thumbsup2

the little touches were very nice in the hotel and we appreciated them and enjoyed them.

thanks i was pleased with the sign picture this trip.

Dude, I wish !! I am recovering from ankle surgery and have a cast on my leg. We don't go back until January and we are staying at Boardwalk.
