Pinhole photography with a home made camera really is a trial in patience. When I made mine I tried to be so precise with the aperture and make this tiny little hole that I knew the diameter of. Totally backfired on me. LOL I'll see if I can finally get mine scanned soon and post them.

I just shoved a sewing needle in mine, no measurements, and hoped it worked. It did, it was just finding an exposure time that wasn't horribly under or over exposed that was tricky. I ended up with about 90 seconds being the average time (which made me look crazy holding a box pointed at something for a minute and a half in a crowded city).

I can relate. My exposure times were upwards of 20 minutes in full sun. I was shooting in the middle of campus and I had a lot of people stop and stare.

I was going to start a film thread when I had a couple rolls developed and scanned. Good thing I searched first and found this thread.

Anyway, I was on here a few months ago whining about my bad pictures and if I should get a new camera. The one I currently use is pushing 7 years old and I figure equipment these days are much better. Some people on this board said yes, get a new camera, the technology is way better. Others said, as I expected, no, learn how to take pictures. So I thought about it and remembered my dad still has his first SLR - Canon AE-1 that he got in 1980 (older than me by 5 years!) and the only thing wrong with it is a broken battery door. I used it a bit in high school for the newspaper. I remember manually setting everything and advancing the film really made me feel like I was the one taking the picture, not the camera. I feel the same way about driving manual transmission too - it is just more fun!

Anyway, I was told to learn how to take pictures, so I removed all the digital out of the equation so I would be forced to learn. I shot a roll of 400 from a local grocery store and roll of Velvia 50 from Amazon, which will be developed by tomorrow. I just got a roll of Ektar 100 yesterday also from Amazon. Hoping to post pics soon. I'm already dreading the results!

I know what you mean about old cameras - my film camera is way older than me and has a maximum shutter speed of 1/100.

My last working film camera died on me today. 2 photos into the roll. Just as I need it for a college film project.

When I get a working one (I'll have another one somewhere, I managed to dig up 3 in my house) I'll post the results.

woot! Got some scanned. It was taking some time, so only did a few tonight. These 3 are Velvia 50. The black bar on the right of the 1st and 3rd pics are scanning error I believe. I'll have to check it out.

But the camera is definitely in working order. Not sure if the particles in the 1st picture are from the film, the scanning, or the camera

I just recently received a 28-200 for $35 so I decided to take a couple pictures of my equipment

From left: Canon 50mm f/1.4, Canon 24mm f/2.8, body, Tamron 28-200mm f/3.5, Vivitar 80-200 f/4

I got the Tamron so I could retire the Vivitar due to this.

Unfortunately, no.

I have a roll of black and white that is begging to be used. I'm going to Disneyland in March so I'd like to get some practice rolls in before I go.

And the tap shoes are great^^

New Old Gear Alert (snapped using my Iphone)

Mamiya 645E, 80mm f2.8 N lens, 150mm f3.5 N Lens, inserts for 120 and 220 film (the 120 was already loaded an in the camera when I took this snap) and a Rapid Wind Grip. Taken about half roll so far, will post once I get something developed.

I recently shot a roll of ektar 100 which was woefully underexposed. I was worried this would happen because my lighting situation was not as great as i hoped so I opted for a CD instead of prints. I ended up with dark pictures with slightly green cast. I'm going to try and fix them. The tutorials don't seem too difficult.

Also I just loaded up some b&w. Personally I find b&w difficult to compose with so I haven't shot it much if at all. I've used it before but that was in highschool newspaper where shooting color didn't matter since it would print b&w.
