Yeah, but only the juniors in our high school do them. I absolutely hate them-I have a 4.0 GPA and 2000 SAT, but I wasn't proficient on one of the sections of the NECAP. We also found out that if you don't have a long enough essay in the writing section, it doesn't matter how good the content is, you still get points knocked off (this was investigated by our principal). So, in my opinion, NECAPs=bullcrap.

Yeah, it's kind of pointless. The schools with the highest scores are the ones who get the most funding from the state, that's why they push so hard for you to do well. In my opinion it's backwards and the schools with the lowest scores should get more funding.

Ok, here's my prelimininary itinerary: :cool1:

Assuming we go down Fri. 4/12:

Sat, 4/13 - EPCOT - Akershus for breakfast, Biergarten for dinner

Sun. 4/14 - HS - Mama Melrose for lunch or dinner. (Not thrilled about this, but want to try some new restaurants and not much to choose from at HS). May leave after lunch and come back later for Fantasmic. Not sure yet....

Mon. 4/15 - AK (a.m. EMH) - Tusker House for lunch

Tues. 4/16 - MK - Be our Guest for dinner

Weds. 4/17 - MK - maybe spend day at resort and come in the afternoon for dinner and try to make it for MSEP (9:00 p.m.). IDK, that's pretty late for us, lol. I'm thinking dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern (again, wanting to try somewhere new)

If DH can't get that Friday off and we go down Saturday then we'll just do EP on Monday and skip AK altogether.

I'm not even on the list :( LOL. We are April 20-29 at Port Orleans Riverside.........the usual.

You're there now. Thanks for the heads up. :thumbsup2

I try not to miss any new folks but at my age (gotta blame it on something, :) ) I do occasionally make a mistake. :lmao:

I always hear about the 2-3 months before too, but it doesn't seem to work that way when you travel at busy times. When we travel right around Easter, I try to book the day that schedules first come out and then I watch how the fares move after that. They very rarely come down (and if they do it's not by very much) but on some busy days they sometimes go up pretty significantly and pretty quickly.

The nice thing about Southwest is that if the fare comes down much you can just rebook at the lower fare and get a credit for the difference. As long as you take another trip within a year you can use those credits on the next trip. If you book with points you can just get the points back.

That's right for SW anyway. The longer I wait for flights for April vacation the more expensive they get. That's why I'm unable to get flights that are reasonable for Friday the 12th. UGH!!! I'm waiting for the 13th and the rest of the week to come out before I make my decision to do that week or not.

Have you checked the flights for Friday?? They are ridiculous out of PVD b/c they came out so long ago. How are they out of Logan?? Is that where you fly out of?

yes, Logan. well, I'm not going by today's prices b/c the fare always go up from about thurs-Monday, but they're not TOO bad. There's an AT flight that when I looked the other day was I think $135 (one way). Right now it's $210. My main concern is the flight coming home. I'll be coming home the same day as I wanted to this past year (Sunday after April school vacation) and there was NOTHING, EVER for under $500/pp (one way). I literally sat glued to the computer for 2 months, searching over and over, all day long. I was exhausted, I barely slept, lol. I ended up having to stay an extra day and fly home monday (and still paid $400/pp. one way). But that's not an option this year b/c DH is coming and he def. can't take that monday off, esp. if he's going to get the Friday before off (teacher). And we're not that flexible with time either because of the cruise, we can't book any morning flights. I read not to book anything before 11 a.m. (cutting it close), but more like 11:30-12:00. The perfect plan that I've made up in my head and that I've been relying on to happen is that I'll be able to use my reward points for the more expensive flights home (not all 4 but at least some), and I'll pay OOP for the less expensive flights down. That's not looking good though b/c from what I can tell by looking at other dates, there's not a whole lot of reward flights out there. Unless they just happen to all sell out really quickly when first released and that's why I'm not seeing them because it's months later (yeah.....that's it! Or so I'm hoping, lol). So.........what was your question again? :rotfl2:
Sorry, I went off on a tangent b/c I can't talk about any of this to DH because he thinks I'm insane. He doesn't understand why I don't just log on, pick a flight, and pay whatever the price may be at that moment. He doesn't understand that I physically cannot bring myself to pay $700-$800/pp. for airfare. he figures we're already paying thousands, why not a couple more. I just can't do it. I would cancel the trip before I spent that much on airfare.

crossing my fingers that we all get something decent for airfare! I am waiting for SW to extend so that we can book the return flight. I also keep checking JB to see if they drop their fares...they are ridiculous! Tomorrow is my ADR day so excited!

The fares are so crazy!! We'll have points too but not sure how many. We've only had the card for about a year.
I will not pay 300 one way!!!! That's what I'm seeing now. We'll see what next wk. brings.

the SW visa? I've only had mine a month so don't have many points. I'm bummed I didn't get it sooner b/c I guess not too long ago you got 50,000 points for signing up, but I only got 25,000.
The other thing that's stressing me out is SW vs. Air Tran. The points can be transferred to AT points, but IDK how quickly they transfer, like - is it instantly? So if fares come out, I see an AT flight I want to book, I have to go transfer the points first, then what if they don't transfer immediately and by the time they do the AT flight is gone or has gone up or whatever? And then maybe I see a SW flight, so I have to switch them back to SW points...... Oy, so stressful. :worried:

Last April I was able to get $99 one way that is like unheard of!! But we had to drive 2 hrs. To BDL in CT.

We fly out of bdl and we got great fares last year too! Hoping we can get these flights squared away and focus on the fun planning:)

Heads up!

The calendar was updated by Disney on Oct. 12, 2012. I don't know what the changes are but everyone should check their dates to see if it will affect their plans.

ETA -- I do see that the hours for AK during the time I am there have been extended one hour to closing at 7 p.m. instead of 6 p.m.. I didn't print out the whole month, so I don't know if they added one hour across the board or not.

Thanks for the heads up. Easter week now has the 8am *EMH* opening for MK every day we're there. I wonder if we'll see a few 7am openings like we had last year for Christmas week.

The last few times that Easter fell around the first week of April, park hours were changed to an 8 am opening for MK everyday and there was 7 AM EMH for the whole week. Hoping this pattern continues this year, as well. Although it is dark when we get there, we love it b/c everyone else sleeps while we ride half the park with no lines and head back to the resort at noon when everyone else shows up.

Wow ... I've been looking at all the photos, etc., from the new Fantasyland "dress rehearsal" Friday and the sneak peak at Be Our Guest. Wow. :thumbsup2 I think I may have to drag the guys there anyway.

I think we'll go for lunch, though. I just want to see it; I think the only thing different for dinner is the table-service menu and the Beast greeting people, right?

192 days! Five days to booking! :hourglass

We are eating at bog on our first night! If anything for a new experience! Hoping the food turns out to be yummy.

! :hourglass

yes, lunch is counter service, right??

I get to make my ADRs tomorrow. I don't feel comfortable making them without 100% knowing our schedule until we book our flights. I'll probably just book BOG tomorrow; there's no real rush for me to make the others, they'll still be there when I'm ready.
