POFQ! Bad reviews? Good Reviews?

Despite the fact that we are staying at CBR in a couple of weeks (just for a change:rotfl:), we really, really love POFQ. In multiple stays there, I have never had a bad experience there. We love everything about it--how it's the smallest resort on property so nothing is very far from anything else, the boat to DTD, Elliot Dyson's show in the lounge, and how wonderful the CMs always are. If there are any negatives, I'd maybe say it was the fact that they don't have a TS restaurant and that the pool is a little kiddish. We took our then 3 1/2 y/o GS down there this past Feb and purposely chose POFQ for the smaller pool slide. We knew he'd love it (and he definitely did). He is very small for his age, but we were able to get an extra small life vest for him from the gift shop. The CM told us to keep it all week in the room, but to be sure and check it back in the day we left and not leave it in the room, or we'd be charged for it.

I really, really like POFQ!! In fact we are currently booked at AKL and am thinking of "downgrading" to POFQ because it's a great resort and typically you can get great deals. Don't second guess at all...I think you all will love it!

We stayed at AKL Villas last year. I had always been hesitant about staying there. Don't downgrade. You have to experience the resort at least once. It is amazing to see the animals wandering around.

This is my current fav resort! I've stayed there twice, and love it! The grounds are beautiful, it's one of the most compact resorts (definitely for a moderate) so no matter what building you're in you're not going to drain all your energy walking anywhere before you even get to a park.

The only semi-bad experience we had was the first time we stayed there, the room was listed as cleaned when we arrived, so the concierge sent us to the room. When we got there, it has not been cleaned. It looked like a maid had come in, thrown all the sheets and things off the beds, and left again, intending to come back. However, when we went to report this to the concierge, he apologized and told us it would be cleaned immediately. So we went to the MK for a few hours, and when we got back the room was cleaned, as promised.

So it was a tiny snafu, but it was fixed quickly. Didn't have a single problem on our second stay. :)

We were there in August and really enjoyed it. PORS is still my favorite moderate but it's so close by that it was almost like staying there anyway.

The only trouble we had was spotty bus service. We would sometimes see several buses for other parks and the longest wait was 40 minutes one day but this wasn't a regular thing. Plus there was almost always a CM tracking the buses so I'm hopeful that they are trying to improve the service.

I WAS booked for POR, and on the advice of a friend I decided to switch to FQ (we've never stayed at either one). She told me FD didn't usually apply to FQ and when I got a PIN and realized I 'could' get it for FQ, I had to do it....you know just cuz I was told I wouldn't be able to?! LOL.

I am a little worried that I made the wrong decision though. I was sort of looking forward to the Island and fishing, etc. I know we can still do it, but not sure we WILL when it's not right there in front of us. Hmmm.

Sidenote: there's also a friend who thinks CSR is the best, best moderate, and I think my kids would love that pool, so I am basically torturing myself here!

We loved the resort, buses were good, kids loved the pool. The only negative for us was the food court. It's kind of dingy looking, just not very appealing at all. We walked over to POR one night and their food court was bigger, nicer and cleaner feeling, but the whole feel of the main building is so BUSY compared to POFQ. I would still choose POFQ over POR again. (DH would go for POR for the foodcourt.)

Felt exactly the same way!

Foodcourt area was the only negative.
But overall, really loved the tranquil feel of the resort.

My 13 and 14 y/o dds and I stayed there for 9 days in March... It was amazing. Our very first official "on property" experience. Now, they never want to stay anywhere else.

We were in bldg 6, and really enjoyed that location. Even though my girls are older, they really liked the pool, and swam several times through out our trip.

We all loved every minute of our stay and are praying for a good code for next fall. :)

I LOVED walking over to PORS particularly early in the morning. All you see are runners and squirrels and it's so peaceful and pretty.

I'm not a morning person but had no trouble getting myself up for this a few times. I always passed and greeted the fishing guy too. :)

You will love it. I was not that excited by pictures but when I got there I found the resort charming and beautiful. The kids loved the pool and the boat ride to DTD. You have to walk over to POR side (10 min.). The path itself is breathtaking and the food court is better on that side. We got upgraded to river view and it was just so nice to wake up to that view every morning. Ask for building 5 it was the best location. Loved that there is only one bus stop so transport is easy and fast (unlike CSR with 5 bus stops)
