i feel  and :furious: and :confused3 DH has been in the process of having his job changed over to permanent his offer is $30,000 less than what he is on now to me that is flippin crazy they are so taking advantage of all the job losses in mining i dont know what we should do!

Oh no! That is a lot of money :( I know there is always a drop when going permanent to allow for things like annual leave and sick leave etc, but that seems like a big adjustment. Is it negotiable at all?

Sooo, the results are back. So not what I was expecting. My strengths usually lie in the English/Verbal area and I expected to do well in that section. Quantitative skills are most definitely not my forte but alas I did well. Weird!

Here are my results:
Verbal:151
Quantitative: 169
Overall score: 160

I scored in the 75.3 percentile.

I'm pretty happy with those results.

That's sounds pretty good to me. Congratulations!

so after 2 days of great news, i was thinking that today was my lucky day (and my dad's birthday) and i woke up thinking maybe i will buy a lotto ticket for saturday night.

i opened my email to find a deal at jb hifi/eb games for the perfect birthday present for carlo on sale (score) and like, immediately afterwards, i hear this ginormous cracking sound, then a bang, and then this kind of rustle-ping.

it's been blowing an absolute gale outside for the last 2 days, but last night it got really, really strong. it seems that a tree in the bushland next to us had been blown so hard it had cracked, fallen onto the roof, and then slid down the roof onto my clothes line :(

this is what i found when i went to look outside:

although it's nowhere near as bad as it could have been... my good karma may have run out :(

that washing is over rated and you need to race out now and buy a lottery ticket.......how lucky duckies were you!

hope its all fine, and let us know when the memorial service is for the clothes line..as I'm sure we'd all like to send our condolences..now where's my group huggy thingy...

lol. i can see my electricity bill going up while doing loads of laundry with the dryer now :)

then again... so much easier to use the dryer... just unload from washer, stuff in, close the door & voila !! hrmmm. maybe the clothes line can stay broken a while longer :rolleyes1

alicia i dont think your luck has ran out but i must say my country mentality kicked in and i thought just whip out the chainsaw and cut it down wont take very long then i realised that you guys wouldn't need to own one:rotfl2: I would love an excuse to throw washing in the dryer actually just to go buy one i wonder if a tree can fall on our clothesline whilst DH is away;)

I know normally you would get a drop but these are done differently they work on contract through agency's as there trial period and then get swapped over you then normally get an offer very similar or more so this was a huge shock its being negotiated at the moment so we will see what they come up with pixiedust:

Thanks guys! It should be enough to get into nursing for sure. I rang UWS and they said a score between 143-148 should suffice and I score 160. So well beyond the minimum range. Now I just have to wait for January to see if I get an offer....

That is ridiculous! That is a huge paycut. What are you going to do? Good luck with the decision.

Lucky you weren't injured and there wasn't any damage to your house. The dryer is much easier, I'm using the excuse that the puppies keep stealing the washing and ruining it. Cheaper to run the dryer than buy so many new clothes. Hope you get it sorted soon.

By the looks of the tree you were lucky it didn't hit your house.

I much prefer the smell of sun-dried washing so maybe you could invest in some clothes horses?

and if the tree stays down, that then sorts Christmas for you...you cant have people over as its an occupational heath and safety issue....and your families welfare is always a priority:cheer2:......win win I say.....

Hi Buddies, just got back from a week away which meant a week off the Disboards. Gosh, it appears I have sooo much reading to catch up on and I see AustralianKaren is back so Welcome Home :cheer2:

Alicia - your good karma continues! It could have landed through the house!

Welcome back, yourself!

we went out this morning and tried to lift it off the fence and well it was just so not happening.

sent an email to the property manager this morning, including photos. their response was 'what a naughty tree! will be by on monday morning with the chainsaw to remove it for you!' -- we will also get a new washing line as ours is clearly busted, so hopefully we won't be too long minus the clothes line. in the meantime, the dryer will do :) too bad the tree will be gone monday... can't use it as an excuse for the family visit :confused3

welcome back to all our returning anzac disers!!

i am now nervous about returning to work on monday. i am sure it will all be perfectly fine, but still.... argh!! now to figure out what to wear to give the best impression & make me look less like a roly poly frump :(

Late late late as always but wanted to say a big congrats Alicia on the job - :thumbsup2 can empathise on the nervousness but yeh, you'll be fine and its great you know someone working there-nice to have a familiar face rather than all strangers on the first days. So good luck for tomorrow. Also good news on the pin code success..and I second, it was luck the tree didn't hit the house. Those winds destroyed parts of our garden. I keep eyeing a beautiful gum that is probably a bit too close to the house-when I was planning where to build I thought it seemed far away!

Mum from Oz-that is great news about your scores-sounds like you'll be fine for the Jan offers. :goodvibes While the cut-offs vary each year according to demand and the scores of applicants, that's a comfortable safety margin. Did you only apply to one institution or several to increase your odds? (Don't mind me-I work at a Uni and many many years ago worked in admissions).

Aust. Karen-I can't imagine ever buying so much o/s-your dad's face was a picture in the snap! Welcome home-you looked so chilled on the plane! Have to catch up on your and Andona's posts and everyone else's trip posts tomorrow.

Have booked airfares to Europe for mid May/June..so DLP here we come..yaay! :cool1:

Congrats Wendy! Hope you got a good deal to Europe.

Alicia - Good luck for today. You'll do fine.

How have I never posted in here before? Maybe the size of the thread was a bit daunting?!?!

Good luck with the new job today Alicia!

Well this will be a long 5 days for you then :rotfl: Fingers crossed all goes well! pixiedust:
