I just want to say that figuring out points...

borrowing, purchasing the 24 "extra" points, just the whole thing makes me feel like I need to be a mathemetician sometimes.

My twin daughters have both been accepted into the College Program so I have the GREAT (and Im not kidding) GREAT job of figuring out the next 3 and possibly 4 trips to Disney on points. 2 (maybe 3) trips this year and saving enough for a 5 day to Disneyland in 2014.

I keep going over it and keep coming up with different figures but Im sure I will get it sorted out.

I have a new respect for those with multiple contracts at multiple resorts with multiple use years....THATS for sure!

Wow, what fun you're going to have!

Congratulations to your daughters!!!!

I love planning out point usage. If I just want to waste a day and have some planning fun, I sit down with a bunch of paper, pencil, point charts and calendars and plan out point usage for 1-2 years ahead. Lots of fun!:thumbsup2

Congratulations on both you daughters getting accepted. My daughter recently applied too.

I love to jot down, erase, have multiple columns, boxes playing around with all the different scenarios/options of using our points!!!! This is all part of the fun!!! Enjoy!

Oh man I love figuring out my point usage. Its a lot of fun, I think I have about three charts I made with resorts/time of year I made .

I find doing it exciting for the anticipation .

Hate it, drives me nuts, I'll have to hire one of you.
OP - Congrats to you and your DD's!

I have to admit, I love planning points usage as well. Whenever we take a trip out to my in-laws (4 hr drive), I take along a calendar, pad of paper, and the most recent points charts. It's fun to plan future trips! :thumbsup2

Thing is, I have to "reinvent the wheel" each time. I cannot seem to keep it all straight in my head so I need to plan it out with the actual calendar, and then superimpose my Use Year calendars (we've got two resorts & two use years) and then remind myself how many points we banked or have remaining, etc. in order to see what we have to work with and think about where we want to stay, for how long, etc. I need one of those flip charts with the clear pages so that I can layer everything to see it! Either that or I should just start an Excel spreadsheet (love Excel! yeah, I'm a geek like that). :upsidedow It's good to do the planning and thorough thinking-through, though. It IS complicated and could easily make a mistake if done in haste. Nobody wants to waste points! :scared:

Congrats to your daughters on the college program!! :goodvibes

Thanks everyone!! Upgraded to a one bedroom for the week we are taking them down and helping them settle in. I think its worth the extra space and will make this trip that more magical!!

Figured out my points for trip two (in July) trip three (Disneyland next summer) and have "extra" points for what I hope will be another time visiting my daughters.

Oh and bought the extra 24 points....I dont want to run short lol.

I have 5 Marriott weeks (accounting for 4 weeks) and 2 DVC contracts. I constantly have to plan out multiple years in advance and am working on getting out to 2015 figured out! :) I need spreadsheets to keep everything in order, so I feel your pain.

Although I'm brand new to this, I'm with YOU!! :thumbsup2 My math is questionable at best...I think the permanent solution is we need more points!! ...200-300 ought to do for awhile... :rolleyes1 Has there been many DVCers that want to buy more points before they even take their first trip "home"?! :upsidedow

Vellamint as a multi-contract DVC owner and the father of twins (one of whom did the WDW CP and stayed on for several years) you're the BEST--Just like my DW:love: DW loves puzzles so she is a perfect person to work out the best usage of our points.

You will love having your kids in the CP. We're talking some really worthwhile discounts:cool1: You'll have almost as much fun with your kids in the CP as they will being in it.

we're DVC members too and my DD got accepted into the CP program too .Taking her down in January but have to stay at Pop as we're out of points to borrow until Feb.So many trips, not enough points.:)

Another DVC member here - dd also accepted. Will arrive at SSR on 1/4 for 1/15 check-in. Borrowed points from next UY.

Our daughter was also accepted into CP. We will drive her down in January. I managed to snag a 1BR BWV for 3 nights in Jan. only 4 months out. She did the program 2 yrs ago we loved the discounts and the extra visits.

Congrats to your daughter. What is her arrival date? My daughter's role is lifeguarding. We check in to Pop on 1/20 and she checks in for her program the next day 1/21.

Our DD is currently in the CP, working at Star Tours. We're going down for a week in December to visit her.

We didn't have enough points left for the full week, but thanks to the generous CM discount, we're doing a family suite at AoA for the first half and staying at AKV during the second half.

Of course, DD is hoping to land an internship for the spring, but if not, she's hoping to extend in the CP, which means we'll need to plan a return trip in the spring. :thumbsup2

We're going to need some more points!

You will have lots of fun with your girls doing the CP program!

My son has done several, and has also worked seasonal. He is doing another program now, and we just got back from BWV (F&W!!) and spent time with him while we were there.

He has worked at the Studios, MK, and now Epcot.

Keep in mind that your girls will have access to some great discounts on the resorts (we were able to get cash reservations (before DVC) at 40% off).
