Any rumor when 2014 dates come out?

When the TAs have a waiting list and all those people want to book at the same minute on the same day, if there are no new itineraries, how do they decide whose trip gets booked first?

Our DU agent Kelsie sent out an email asking what we were hoping to book. She indicated that, on opening day, she would work on requests in the order in which she had received them. Naturally, that prompted a quick response from me!

If people have a TA making a reservation for them and they call to make a reservation themselves, they are actuallly causing the prices to go up prematurely because of the double bookings. Once the price goes up to the next tier, DCL doesn't drop them back down if resies are cancelled because of the double booking.

I am patientally awaiting for the 2014 dates to open up. I have contacted Dreams Unlimited a month or so ago letting them know what cruise I was interested in. Dan says he will get me some prices as soon as the dates open up.

I want to book as soon as 2014 opens up so I stand a chance in getting the best rate. My concern is that I'm sure DU is going to be swamped on opening day. Can I book directly myself with Disney and move that reservation to DU and still get a onboard ship credit? I want to make sure I get what I want and book right away. What would you do?

This would be our first cruise and cost is an issue if we will be able to do a Disney Cruise or not. I was looking at a June 2014 7 Night Western Caribbean out of Port Canaveral. And most recently I am interested in a 8 Night Bahamian Cruise out of Galveston. That seems to be on the top of my list. I'm guessing January 2014 would be the cheapest. And it's probably cheaper to fly to Texas instead of Florida from Wisconsin.

Thanks!

I think September is actually the cheapest and early October seems good as well. We cruised several years in a row in January and many times it was too cold...this year we cruised in September...we loved it!

On a scale of 1-10 how likely are we thinking that a NEW itinerary for the Fantasy will be included? I've already done the Eastern and Western, and I've been to the Bahamas more times than I care to count (I know the Fantasy doesn't do Bahamas...)

I would love to see some Southern Caribbean ports and hopefully a cruise longer than 7 days, on the Fantasy, in 2014.

I know the Fantasy will sail out of PC though, so idk how likely it is to get something new in '14.

Hoping!

Exactly! Either book yourself (online or via phone) OR have a travel agent book for you - but don't double book!

Although you can book yourself and then transfer the reservation to a travel agent - they get less commission that way, and you may get a reduced onboard credit.

I agree -- this can cause all kinds of problems, including problems for your TA who is spending so much time with DCL trying to get your reservations while you are making duplicate reservations "just to be sure". :rolleyes2

Thanks! I promise I won't double book a cruise. :goodvibes My TA said he is expecting that the Dream and Fantasy dates will be released first but for only part of the year. He thinks the itineraries for the Magic and the Wonder will be released at a later time.

Zero... Magic and wonder will continue to move around but dream and fantasy will be there to attract new customers.

I see dream attracting first timers and fantasy the follow up

Hey kstategrad! First time I have noticed you posting on here. As far as how likely the Fantasy gets a new itinerary, I am going with 1. I would say it is slightly possible for them to change a port on the Western, but for the most part I think they will continue to do the same Eastern/Western. I don't see any chance for the Southern.

Hey ksucats! :cool1:

I really wish there would be something new with a new ship. I want to go on the Fantasy but want to try new ports too. Have already been on all 3 of the other ships.

Oh well...hoping for some news soon either way!

A southern would be more probable on one of the classic ships out of Miami.

And for the record, I'LL TAKE IT!!!! I miss the classic ships ;(

In 2006 we did the 10-day Southern on the Wonder - a very special cruise! We were just on the Magic and our head waiter said he was on that cruise and that to this day, that was the crew's favorite sailing (along with the subsequent 11-day). I would love to do that itinerary again!

We are fairly new Disney cruisers. We did a 5 day double dip on the Wonder & 7 day Eastern on the Fantasy. We are gong to do a 4 day on the Magic out of Galveston since it was fairly cheap and a drive that we can handle. I am definitely hoping for some new itineraries also to get me to want another cruise after this one. We will probably do a short one on the Dream the next time we head to Florida.

what year did you graduate? I graduated in '98.

Just thought both of your posts needed to be repeated.;) Either TRUST your TA or book it yourself... not both. Once those prices go up, they don't go down. Be aware that even though your TA may have booked you as soon as bookings opened, they might not be able to contact you until later in the day.

If you think about it, there really is very few people that will benefit from this opening day booking. Only dream and Fantasy will be available and it will be identical to 2013 for the itinerary. We know that because gold and platinum members have heard nothing. so unless you need a holiday booking, your price is unlikely to go up very much in the next few months, if ever.I booked my Dream vacation that includes easter for 2013, in August and I am only saving about $ 600.00 from opening day prices in 2010. I am not saying it wouldn't have been nice to save $600.00 but I am sure the savings would be considerably less if I had booked say, last February. We are all excited but don't get too worried.

I booked the Fantasy for 2013 as soon as the rates came out and the price is still the same, so I agree that for most sailings and categories this is probably true. Different story for something special like Hawaii or something new.

If my memory serves correct, were the Dream and Fantasy schedules released in October for 2013, and the Wonder and Magic released in January. So if anything maybe we'll see the Dream and Fantasy soon and probably be nothing new.

Exactly, so we will be waiting another 3 months. And for the majority of others, your money would be best left in the bank unless you are picking a popular date.

I graduated in '98 too!! Then moved to Memphis!

I love the Magic; it's my favorite. Just wanna try the Fantasy at least once and wish it was a new itinerary or at least ONE new port. If there's a southern offered on the Magic, I'd do that one for sure! Just wish the Magic had some new shows like the Fantasy does.

Oh well...a Disney Cruise is better than being at home no matter what ship/itinerary!

So what would be considered a popular date??

We are hoping to cruise for the 1st time in June 2014. We are a family of 6, so we will need 2 staterooms, which freaks us out... $$$ LOL

We are lost as to what we want to book. We considered a 5 day but would really like to do the Dream or Fantasy (esp) since they are the newer ships, in case we don't cruise again.
