The Official October 2012 Car Rental Thread

Thanks for those. I just tried them and while the rates are lower than they have been my best rate is still with National. I think tomorrow is my last chance to get a lower rate for our dates (10-12/22)

I'll be watching too!! Keep in mind that often the rate changes throughout the day and into the evening. The rate is so high now (almost double of what I have). I'm paying $223 a week total right now, so I can live with that if I have too. I'm just happy I booked when I did. I haven't even started to pack yet and we leave in 4 days!! Yikes!!

hey- my Budget rental for 10/19-10/26 dropped today using the code D454300 and coupon MUGZ029 intermediate SUV was with taxes about 270, now about 240- and if the coupon works at return an additional $30 off I believe. compared to everything else I have found its by far the cheapest...

I used this code and got a mid sized SUV for $191 (incl taxes) for 10/21-10/28. Anything special abou the codes or coupons? Also, what is the $30 off at return coupon?
Regular price for this rental without codes is $562!
We're spending one day in Clearwater before heading to WDW for 6 days.
THANK YOU!!! :cool1:

What are the codes for and do you need to present a coupon?

I am looking at car rental for Oct 20-25. I have a National one, using KLM code for mid SUV (need that for my son's chair) for $204 (total with tax). I of course like National, I love picking out the car myself, and I am an Emerald member.

The other alternative is Budget, I saw codes listed in this thread. But just went to the site and clicked on the "deal" for mid SUVs. I get $194 total with taxes, no coupon. (when I added the MUGZ029 coupon, the price stayed the same for some reason). The code that came up was D454301, but I did not enter that myself. Again, when I tried the D454300, I got the same thing again, $194. I am a Budget Fastbreak member.

Does Budget allow you to choose the car? And should I switch from National to Budget, to avoid the weirdness of the KLM code? (some people here said the bill looked higher upon return, but the higher amount never actually hit their CC). I am not that concerned that National is $10 higher.

Thanks all!!

The terms of code D454300 state: Offer may not be used in conjunction with any other discount number, coupon, promotion or offer and is subject to change without notice. That is why you cannot add the coupon, if they accept it at return, then you got lucky. :)

The D454300 code is for the same offer that is on the Budget website- $14 a day for a compact or $22 a day for an SUV. You don't need a coupon for it. The MUGZ029 is a special Costco code. I assume you need to show a Costco card, although they may not always ask. I have read about people successfully using both together.

I think some people here said they used the code and the $30 coupon as well, but am not counting on it.

i signed up for the KLM code but national was over $400...wonder if i am not doing the right thing....

Thanks for the info... unfortunately not a Costo member and with my luck they would ask for the card! :lmao:

Arriving on Friday and still not much change on the reservations I have, in fact Alamo went up $5. Trying to decide if I want to go with National or Alamo, the diff between the 2 is about $20.

Same company, same cars and you can select your own vehicle.

Last minute fares are posted now to Alamo and National and again MCO was left off the list! Unless the rates start dropping drastically, I guess I got the best I'm going to get. I will be checking up to Friday morning before we head out.

Absolutely no movement in my rate :sad1: Oh well, I've got lots to do before we leave on Friday. I might check again once or twice but I'm ok with the rate I have.

I just rented with Budget using the code given above and I got an intermediate SUV for 9 days for a total of $275. It's the best price I've seen so far since the prices have been so high.

Did I get a good price??

I finally scored a decent rate for my dates ! Everyone check dollar, no codes or anything needed !

Thanks for sharing... My dates are still way over the top.... ended up with Budget $14 Wendie Code.... Prefer Alamo/National. Oh well, I need a car!!! :)

Still no love coming my way! Leave Saturday and it looks like I'll be using my original ressie. No drops at all. This is a first for me...hope there is still pixie dust out there for the rest of you.

My car rental rate dropped last October the night before my trip. Don't give up :)
We leave this Sunday and I have been checking daily. hoping my rate drops again this trip :goodvibes

Seeing some downward movement this morning when checking. Still not beating the price I've got with National, but Alamo is lower this morning. I still can't get the coupon AD2359fdf to work anymore (blacked out). I can get the $15 coupon to work (AD2766znd), but no coupons work with the SUNPROMO code, which is giving the lowest rate without a coupon. Right now Alamo is $20 less than the rate I have with National for this FRiday pickup. Don't forget to dump your cookies/temp files too.

National dropped about $200 for my trip at the end of October. It is still higher than what I have with my KLM code, but it makes me feel hopeful that it may drop more. I hadn't seen much movement until today.

If you have a Visa card you can use AD2338FDF for $30 off at Alamo. I don't have enough posts to post the link; however, you can find more info on the coupon through Google.
