MNSSHP - headless horseman and horse took a tumble

We were there last night and had just the best time, what a brilliant party!

On the first parade we were standing on the route not far from the Haunted Mansion and the headless horseman and horse took a tumble. There was a huge smack, they both got up and the horse ran off without the horseman.

They both looked ok - anyone know anything? Are they ok?

They are both okay, the rider and horse. I'm sure you noticed they didn't ride in the second parade as a precaution due to the fall in the first parade. I was super bummed because that is my favorite part of the parade but was glad to hear they were both okay. :)

Oh gosh, that is awful! I'm so glad that no one was hurt, and that the horse was OK too!

This is exactly why they don't ride when it is wet!

We didn't see the first part of the 2nd parade as we were eating at Peco Bills but I didn't hear them go past so guessed they hadn't ridden.

So glad they are ok.

You had to be at some distance from the Haunted Mansion, as the parade does not pass near the HM.
I'm guessing you were actually a bit closer to Hall of Presidents.

Oh, no!!!!! :scared1:

We were there last night and I had commented after it rained that I bet the Headless Horseman wouldn't be out for the first parade.

Wish he hadn't have been! Hate to hear this.

Ok, not that it really matters but we had just come out of Haunted Mansion and walked a dozen steps towards the route.

YIKES! I've only ever fallen off of a horse in semi-soft ground. I can't imagine falling on pavement. OUCH! And a horse falling on pavement too, I wonder if he got banged up? It's amazing how easily horses get hurt :faint: (headache thinking of the vet bills I paid as a horse owner).

Another thought w/ no head (sort of), he couldn't have had a helmet on. Semi-serious laugh there. ;) I hope the rider didn't hit his head! We all know the damage that can do. :worried: Glad to hear they're OK.

I do believe those horses wear shoes and that is another way that the horse could have slipped and fell. Metal horse shoes and asphalt can make it kind of slick. Now add water to the situation and its like ice.

A concern would also be guest safety.

A horse slipping and falling down can be dangerous for those standing nearby.

If the horse rolls and kicks in a effort to stand up, that could be troublesome, too.

The first time we saw the headless horseman it was slightly wet and we were very surprised that Disney let him ride.

We also were surprised that Disney does this. While it has a great reward, it seems there is a lot of risk.

Imagine how kids would be traumatized if the horse (or rider) were seriously injured during a fall.

What they have on their shoes is better them borium (it what the Amish use it on their horses that pull their buggies) but it does not eliminate the problem totally.
