James Garfield had clear blue eyes. I'll go with him because honestly it's slim pickins (aside from JFK of course).

Bill Clinton and JFK----most handsome

Romney is very handsome, but he's not president

I think Obama looks more like Alfred E. Newman (Mad Magazine guy) than Howdy Doody. He is semi-goofy looking. But then George W reminded me of Alfred E. Newman too. :lmao:

Homeliest-----Lincoln by a mile

I dunno, I think Thomas Jefferson was pretty hot. I have a thing for Renaissance men.

Never could get past JFKs accent.:crazy2:

LBJ--looks like your creepy uncle that tries to get you to go into the bathroom with him

Reagan--a man's man

Theodore Roosevelt--gotta love a man who takes me camping :p

Ditto Ulysses S. Grant--set aside the first US national park, the incomparable Yellowstone National Park

Andrew Jackson has some "bad boy" good looks

Def Kennedy and Obama for best looking...........both I find handsome!

Sorry, middle school stuff to make fun of looks.

Yes, but at the risk of skirting too close to political discussion, in the modern era looks are a big deal in presidential races. Cameras are everywhere. Even without the flop sweat, Nixon looked like a troll standing next to JFK, and voters are often unconsciously swayed by things like that.

It isn't just classical handsomeness that counts. In fact, the most important factor these days is height. The odds that a man who is shorter than 5'9" could be elected to the US Presidency today are just about zero. (We like our presidents to be in the taller range of average, from about 6' to 6'2"; being freaky tall is not particularly advantageous). Another thing that matters is hair; bald men do not tend to get nominated for the Presidency these days, and when they do, they lose. (The last elected bald president we had was Eisenhower.)

As for Paul Ryan, yes, he's in excellent shape, but he looks like a kid playing dress-up. The man's suits are always WAY too big for him; would somebody PLEASE get him a tailor before he trips over his cuffs?

I think all presidents probably had a certain amount of magnetism. That said...

I've always had a thing for Woodrow Wilson. I like a clean-shaven man with glasses.

Ronald Reagan was also incredibly handsome to me.

Those are my two standouts.

On an amusing side-note, when my DD was little, (about 4 years old), we had a poster up in her room with all of the U.S. presidents on it. One day she came up to us and told us that she had a boyfriend. Her boyfriends name? Bill Clinton. :)

That is so funny, because these were my exact thoughts when I saw the reference to Howdy Doody. :rotfl:

Is it wrong that I think this is the funniest remark in this thread :scared:

I agree with you that Reagan was handsome. He was charming too so I'm thinking that adds to his good looks.

I think George W is handsome too--kind of rugged good looks. :) I think the older he gets, the more like he looks like his dad, who is not so handsome to me but I do like his personality.

I do not think Obama is good looking but he does keep himself in good shape.
There is something about Clinton's nose that is bulb-like to me and makes me think of an alcoholic. I know people think he is really handsome, I just don't see it.

It is always so interesting to hear who we all think it handsome/good looking or sexy.
Wow I can't believe I found a post I agree with on this thread. :rotfl: I was smh while reading most of these.

ITA agree about Clinton's nose! I never could understand what people saw in his looks. I guess he's a smooth talking sax player.

I still find it's what's on the inside that makes one handsome/beautiful so having said that my choices are:

Most handsome and oddly enough my two favorites
1. George Washington
2. Ronald Reagan

Least favorite/attractive

1. Obama
2. Jimmy Carter

and if Al Gore had won he would be my #1 UGLY just because he is on so many altitudes-levels.

Love this thread. Two thoughts:

1) Since not all the Presidents have been photographed, I've always wondered if their portraits were accurate. Not sure I can speak to any President before the mid 1800s. :goodvibes

2) I reeeeeally like Daniel Day Lewis, and he's about to play Lincoln in a new film. I think he's spot on for the part.... does that now mean I think honest Abe was hot?!?!?!

Most handsome:

Kennedy

Clinton

Ugliest:

Nixon

BTW, W was never a cowboy. Cowboys don't ride around in golf carts

I never really had much of an opinion either way but when he was in office, George Bush showed up in at least 3 of my dreams. Not in inappropriate ways, he was just there. And that's all I'm going to say about that...:rolleyes1
