Today is Tuesday and the day that National and Alamo releases their "last minute" specials. I'm not optimistic, but always hopefully. I still have next Tuesday (after the holiday weekend) too.

Here's hoping for the best for you and me :) !

So I might have deleted my great Alamo rate email. I cannot find it no matter how hard I search my inbox. Has anyone found a way to pull up your Alamo reservation without a confirmation number? I am kicking myself as it was $191 and today it is $244. So I made a back up reservation at the $244 just in case... Any ideas? I must have deleted the email.

Why don't you try calling them? They should be able to pull it up using your name/dates/location.

I have changed my reservation so many times my head is starting to spin! This morning I booked a compact through Hertz for 10/13-17 for $155.89. I used the Entertainment book CDP & the weekend code XCT1. Price was $14.24 for the weekend days but then jumped to $42.74 for the week days. Still a little more then I was hoping to spend but I have a feeling it might be the best I do.

And prices the week before...

Boo. My week doesn't seem to have changed at all. May have to priceline!

Check your Alamo rates! I reserved my car this morning and just looked a few minutes ago and it dropped $25.

What codes did you use? My reservation is still the same price.

budbeerlady -- Shelly F is a week earlier than you (and me). Here's hoping we start seeing some movement this weekend and next week.

Shelly F, what is your rate? I did see National dropped a little for pick up on the 6th. Hope you're checking both. That coupon for Alamo (AD2359fdf) doesn't seem to be working anymore....guess it reached capacity? not sure. Though the sunpromo is a nice discount.

$87 for a compact or $100 for a mid size and I am renting from the Car Care Center. Their rate compared to MCO was much less. Used the Visa $15 off code AD7394SDJ with my Costco ID 7014627.

Try looking a week before your trip that is when they release the last minute rates. I wait to book my car at the last minute because looking too early will result in some high rates and cause you to fret and worry about having to shell out $$$$ for a rental.

As far as checking National rates their rates tend to be higher than Alamo. I have had good luck with Alamo on all my trips.

I just tried more coupon codes and the rates for my trip are higher than I got three weeks ago.

I just tried Dollar (which is my cheapest reservation and the one Im going to use) and it said the location is sold out. I have never seen that before. My dates are 10/6 - 10/13

National remains the same for me while all others are up. Dollar is up from the reservation I have with them but down a bit from when I checked the otehr day. I think early next week is my last chance to see any savings.

I'll be watching too!!

Shelly, Thank you for posting the Visa Code. When I went to Alamo it said I may have to present the coupon. Do you have a coupon for the VISA $15? Or do I need to bring my Costco card?

Thanks!

No coupon and its a good thing to have the Costco card if they ask for it. I have never been asked to show it but you never know.

BUMP

omh. october rates are higher every day! :((((

Yes, they are high and seem to be getting higher every day. When I booked a month ago I was in shock, but now that price is looking better to me. I'm paying a total of $223 a week for National mid-size/Aisle. Several of us leave next weekend and are hoping for some lower rates. October has always been my highest rental car rates, but never this high. This year I'm paying a base weekly amount (before taxes or discounts) of $230 a week, but last year the same time that same base weekly amount was $165. I leave on Friday and check several times a day. Yes, folks should remember to dump their cookies/temp files.

i don't know if everyone has certain places that they will rent from or how their schedule is like, but for me, i look for the cheapest and will work around that price, lol. i used dollar.com and their city specials and will be getting it from the wyndham hotel and got a compact car for $108 picking up on 10/21 at 2pm and returning on 10/24 at 2pm, 3 days exactly. just a few days ago, i was checking out alamo and they wanted $100 for just 1 day! so excited that i decided to look around

hey- my Budget rental for 10/19-10/26 dropped today using the code D454300 and coupon MUGZ029 intermediate SUV was with taxes about 270, now about 240- and if the coupon works at return an additional $30 off I believe. compared to everything else I have found its by far the cheapest...

Thanks for those. I just tried them and while the rates are lower than they have been my best rate is still with National. I think tomorrow is my last chance to get a lower rate for our dates (10-12/22)
