POR is my fave moderate! My DS12 & I didnt care for POFQ, we didnt care for the 'smallness' of the resort. We didnt like the food court. We didnt like the appearance of the place.

POR has a much better food court, the grounds are OUTSTANDINGLY GORGEOUS IMO! So pretty. LOOOVE the mansions. I love that there are bike rentals onsite. I think the pool is far prettier. If it matters, the slide is longer. The boat picks up at POR first, then goes to POFQ. I've seen it only pick up 2 ppl at POFQ because the boat was so full.

I've also been to CSR, its a gorgeous resort with amazing bus service, but honestly, it aint no POR. Plus the food court isnt great either. As far as ambiance goes, CSR is gorgeous but IMO not as nice as POR.

Hello all!

We are tentively planning a Disney trip for May 2013. We are not new to Disney but have always stayed off site (except for 2004 we stayed at the POLY for our honeymoon). We are considering staying at a moderate resort this time around. I'm leaning towards the Caribbean Beach Resort and my husband is leaning towards Port Orleans Riverside. Just wondering which one everyone else would pick and the reasons why you would pick one over the other.

Thanks!
:)

With the ages of your kids I would say CBR, great theme and preschool pool

It's hard to vote on one when we havn't stayed at all the mods. So far we have only stayed at POR and CBR. As my choice between the 2 POR definately over CBR. POR has more to offer and I do have to say the boats to DTD is a added bonus instead of always boarding a bus. Are next trip we are going to try CSR. The kids are excited when they see the main pool area there. As for which area to stay ar CSR we have no preference. As for buses, yes sometimes it's crazy and you get headaches but remember they are included with you stay and you don't have to pay extra for a rental car that will sit in a parking lot all day.

I've stayed at CBR and POFQ, and am staying at POR in a few months. Personally, I would pick POFQ. It's small and cute, and was recently renovated (not as recent as PO Riverside, but still recent).

I think that CBR and CSR have the best themed pools though. I do like the theme of CBR, it works nicely with being in Florida :)

My vote went with PO Riverside - a room refurbishment has just been completed and it looks great - nothing like a nice new room! While it is spread out, I would probably book a preferred room or request a couple of specific bldgs and then ask at check in for a room close to the lobby area, if it wasn't assigned. :thumbsup2 Several quiet pools and a fun main pool area as well.

My favorite moderate is POFQ, but do not like the purple and gold rooms since the last refurb in 2010. Many do, but just not my cup of tea....and the discounts are slim there lately - 5% as compared to 20 or 25% for Riverside, depending on the season and offer.

CBR used to be our favorite moderate - it was brand new when we first stayed there and fabulous! After several Polynesian and Contemporary stays we wanted to try a new resort. We LOVED it...stayed 4 times in a row. When we went back in 2004, it wasn't the same - lots of changes. Of course, it doesn't have a lobby within walking distance and the food court and on site restaurant leave much to be desired these days - at least for us. Then we went back to deluxe resorts...in 2006 tried POR and FQ and couldn't believe how much we loved both resorts.

It is always difficult to choose a resort, unless it is one where your family has always wanted to stay. Good luck in choosing - I am sure you will have a wonderful trip no matter which you choose! Happy planning!!:goodvibes

We did not like cbr and we aren't picky people. Seemed like a run down island resort and SO spread out. Took me 20 minutes to go fill my water bottle. Pool is great so if you stay there, I really suggest you get a room close to the action

I agree with two little ones 3 and 1 I would go with CBR for their kiddie pool. You can also have them playing the sand and the playground is better for smaller children compared to CSR.

We have stayed at CSR and CBR. We liked both but CBR was better for little ones. You can also try POR or others when the kids are older

We have stayed at both POR and CBR and liked both a lot. I would give a slight edge to CBR because of the relaxing tropical theme and the awesome pool with zero entry and two slides. Both resorts are really big. My kids also like CBR better. Just ask for a location in Jamaica, Aruba, Martinque or North Trinidad. Or you can book preferred which will guarantee you will close to everything. CBR has bigger rooms than POR too. The only plus for POR is queen beds. But I have heard CBR will be getting new queen beds soon. I wanted to add our favorite resorts are Poly and Beach Club and we usually stay deluxe. That is why we like the theme of CBR.
