For people applying for spring 2013

I am!!!! I applied for Spring Advantage 2013 last night! I passed the web interview this morning and scheduled my phone interview for next Wednesday at 11am!!!!! My top three are: Vacation Planner, Costuming, and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique!

I applied and have my phone interview on Thrusday. I think I am going to apply for Photopass Photographer, Character Attendant, and Costuming, although I am open to Attractions and Main Gate Operations too. Does anyone have any tips for my interview questions I'll be asked on these?

For photopass I got asked about my experience taking pictures and what types of cameras I can work.
Character Attendant, I heard you could get asked How would you react/what would you do if a child was being violent toward a character?" "How would you explain why characters cannot talk?" "How do you explain how characters can get to different places so quickly?"
Attractions: "What is your favorite ride? Why?" "What would you do if a guest was too short to ride Space Mountain?"

And that's about all I can remember for now, hope that helps! :beach:

Yes, I read that article. I was just wondering if any one who had been accepted had a similar experience. Does everyone go in to the pending status after the phone interview? Has anyone been excepted within the initial 2 weeks following the phone interview?

No, pending is not automatic. You hear back within 2 weeks of your interview, if you are pended, you receive a special email. If you are accepted, you receive a specific email then that usually says "Congratulations!". I was never pended, I received my invitation 2 business days after I interviewed.

That helps me a lot thank you so much! Those attendant questions I have no clue how to answer though. :scratchin

Not everyone gets pended but I know that a lot of people got the same pending email last Friday (including myself). Some people I've talked to that have been pended in previous seasons say that you could hear back tomorrow or you could hear back in December. It's just different for everybody :(

Oh well, that doesn't make me feel better but, congratulations to you. :cheer2: What type of job are you doing? If you don't mind me asking, what do you think made you stand out? My daughter has her associates degree in graphic arts, she went to college during high school so she graduated h.s. and a year later graduated a two year college and is in Phi Thetta Kappa for two year colleges. She has experience in the food industry hostessing and waiting tables. She also has a minor in photography at her current four year school. She was part of non drug and alcohol clubs in h.s. I don't know what else they are looking for??

Thanks ! Fingers crossed for you and my daughter.

I don't really have answers for you, what I have noted is they sent out a batch of merchandise emails recently. It probably depends on how people answer a question, how they do on the interview. What I did do was check a lot of roles, except the ones that I didn't really want. I did get one of my top 3 and I do have experience in merchandising.

From what I have read, being pended isn't the end and you could very well receive an answer next week or weeks after, keep in mind character auditions are ongoing and people might open up roles. I am guessing it largely depends on what roles a person wants, if they have already been filled and if the person is a match for it. And you can be in a ton of organizations but it matters how you answer the questions like in any interview. I can't particularly say what I did "right" as I am not sitting on Disney's end of the interview. I was honest, I listed what I wanted it, I have to admit I wasn't particularly interested when I looked up this program, I have only known it existed for a week due to a sign I saw on campus.

One thing that might have counted in my favor is I am a junior going on to be a senior and I said that this is one of my last opportunities to search out things like this and it is why I am looking for them, which is the truth. Junior year is the year to start doing internships, next year I will not have the same opportunities as I will be a senior of 2014.

It sounds like you did the same thing my daughter did. I guess we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed. Unlike you, we've known about this for quite some time. We go to Disney every year for vacation. Over the years we have talked to many college students while we were there. This is her second time trying. She applied this time last year as well. Good luck to you. Have fun!

Well we might have answered the questions differently. I have been interviewing quite frequently lately so my interview skills are sharpened more than mine usually are. It is a first come, first served basis. Also our background may be different, I am uncertain. I can't answer what they look for and it may be in large part of what her top 3 roles are. I checked a lot of high interest roles, put my top 3 (my top one was attractions) but I do have recent experience in merchandising that I am working a job now that is directly related to it. Again, it is probably how you answer it, how well you answer it and so forth. I can't give you feedback on how to answer it as everyone has to fit their answers best to their experiences and figure out what works for them.

Another thing to consider is I was less interested, so I probably focused on the questions more than someone who might be overly nervous and might be referencing too much how they love it. I can't particularly say. All I can suggest is having her practice interviewing skills, it could just be how many applicants they have just like any job is hard to get right now. Can't honestly say.

Hi again, my daughter's phone interview was Tuesday and she received the email today that she was accepted!!!!

My phone interview was Monday. Tuesday I was pending and it broke my heart. TODAY I was accepted to merchandise!!!!!

So for all of those still waiting...keep the faith, pending is not the end.

I am still interested in one of the professional internships, but at least now I know that I am going! :thumbsup2

If I don't hear from them I might call to check on my status. But I agree...we just need to stay positive.

Well I didn't apply for any character roles and I won't be able to make it due to a family vacation to WDW any way. o_O so who knows!
