Treehouse Villas - anyone else disappointed?

I just returned from a week long trip to the World, and for the first time ever, I stayed in the Treehouse Villas.

I'm a DVC member (since 2000) and I've got at least 30 trips under my belt, at various resorts, so I'm not a newbie.

I have to say, I was let down by Treehouse Villas this trip, it was far too dark, and I felt like I was in the woods of New Hampshire, versus sunny Florida. It set the tone for the entire trip.

Anyone else feel this way after staying there?

No more THV trips for me!

Sorry to hear that, we have never stayed there and do not plan to. Too far away from everything. I like a quick walk to EPCOT or pop on the monorail.

Am I the only one wondering how Disney could have a bunch of tree houses, and not have it seem as if they were in the woods?? Doesn't a bunch of trees=the woods??

Sorry OP, but I'm teasing you a little. Not every resort fits every person. I would love to stay at the Tree House Villas some day. You can have my spot at the Beach Club Villas, ok?

No comment regarding New Hampshire but THV are our least favorite place to stay. We too are long time DVC members and can't see that any reason why we would choose to stay there again.

I would agree that it sounds like expectations were not aligned to reality. I have a party of 10 going down in December and we didn't even consider THV because part of our party lives up in Maine. It would seem too much like home.

For the record, I'm a big fan of NH, and I get that it's part of the ambiance, I'm just saying that it gets the thumbs down from me, and was wondering if anyone else was disappointed.

I didn't expect to be on a golf course or feel like I was on an island. I just felt zero Disney magic while in the THV.

Oh well, I guess that frees up a Villa for the rest of you!

I stayed there back in the 70's with my parents and some friends. I was in high school. I would love to stay there again with my kids. I think it would be like having our own house at Disney World

I am pretty sure most people know where the treehouses are located and what they and their surroundings will look like before they go. They always seem to be pretty booked up when we look for one of them.

Maybe I'm wrong about this, but seems like these, or at least the original Treehouse units were built, (along with the Bungalows and other houses) to support those attending events at the Disney institute. Am I thinking correctly?

We stayed at the DI Bungalows Jan 2000 and remember seeing the Treehouse units and being very jealous..but we did enjoy the feeling of seclusion while we were there, all the time only a bus ride away from all the magic. In fact we were very sorry to see it all torn down and replaced by SSR.

Sorry you were disappointed, and please pardon me if I'm confusing the location of your stay with what I remember.

We loved them. Loved the interior and loved being able to seperate my kids at night. It made bedtime easier. With 4 boys, it was also great to not have to worry as much about all the noise they made because there was no one around to bother. We liked that it was wooded. It felt secluded and peaceful after our park time. We're just bummed that they raised the points needed to say there (are DVC). They were a great bargain for our family size.

The only time I have ever wanted to stay there was when we went in 1999 and stayed at the institute...now I would never consider it...

It was nice having the extra bedroom, etc. Can't complain there. There's definitely a market for the THV.

Stayed there last year and just booked pre-cruise for a few days next August. I liked the Treehouse because of it's uniqueness. You can get real tired real quick in plain old Saratoga and the main resort pool isn't much of a walk if you're desperate.

It al about personel taste and likes/dislikes..........some love the Tree Houses and some don't care for them!

OP, your post cracked me up because my kids and I had the exact same reaction to the cabins at Fort Wilderness when we checked out that resort. We lived in the real woods for 11 years and could not imagine going all the way to Disney World and vacationing... IN THE WOODS. I think the woodsy resorts appeal more to people who live in cities or suburbs (which I guess is most people?!) and want a taste of "nature."

I notice people say similar things about Wilderness Lodge, that all the woods and rustic nature as well as the Pacific Northwest theme of the resort doesn't feel like being in Florida.

This Florida girl loves it though! I am sick to death of palm trees!

I have never stayed at the Treehouses, probably never will due to the price, but the seclusion with the woods all around is quite attractive to me. I like POR and the campground cabins for the same reasons.

Now the southwest theme of CSR? I hate it.

I stayed here back in the 90's, and I remember loving them! Especially because the bed I slept it was suspended from the ceiling by vines! Granted, I don't think they have those anymore because of all the renovations.
