s/p/d and deluxe DP - anyone confirm?

Can anyone confirm what disount you got with the s/p/d for the deluxe dining?

I'm guessing they aren't doing DDP at kids rate? That would be awesome! That'd be a $73.13 savings per person per night. For us that'd be $731!!

But are they doing the difference between the regular DP($55.59) and the DDP ($99.97), which equals $44.38 and adding that to the kids DP, which is $17.16 for a total of $61.54. That would only be a savings of $38.43 per person per night on s/p/d for ddp.

Since there are just 2 of us for 5 nights that's a savings of $384.30...not bad but the RO discount would be better.

I just haven't heard anyone say for sure that this is how they are calculating DDP and was hoping someone with the DV booked and had this explained to them.

I don't have mine booked yet (waiting for 10/10!), but I've read several others who have booked who say that to upgrade to DDP from the standard DP you pay the normal difference, so your $384.30 savings is correct.

That's helpful. So far all I've read are posts from people saying they believe that's how it will be done. I haven't seen anyone actually book and cofirm that's how they're doing the upgrade so it helps that others may have read that somewhere.

Using the spd formula of (room rack rate)+(adults counted as children tickets)+(adults counted as children dining), works if you choose standard dining.

But, after having 2 CM's quote us significantly higher (and actually slightly different) prices with deluxe dining, we figured out that the formula for spd with deluxe dining is:
(room rack rate)+(adults counted as children tickets)+(adults counted as children standard dining)+(difference in price between adult standard dining and deluxe dining).

In our case, the difference in calculation means that the bump up from standard dining to deluxe dining is $44.38 per adult per day, versus the $9.68 per adult we were expecting. On our vacation, that's nearly $1200 more than what we expected to see. Yikes!

We booked at a Value for 9 nights and bumped to the regular DP. My invoice actually says Q8T rather than the other T64.

I asked the nice CM if the S/P/D was the adult tickets & dining at the childrens prices and he said no. I also asked about bumping to the Deluxe DP and he ran the numbers with the disount and said, "oh, no, that's much higher".

He said there are a couple of good offers and codes out there and took about 15 minutes to try my resservation with other codes and said that the Q8T was the best one.

I am a DVC holder and believe these are the codes that are available to other DVC holders.

We saved almost $650. FD does save us more than this but this is a good discount.

Does anyone know about the difference(s) b/w the Q8T and T64?

So s/p/d is not adult tickets and dining at kids price?? It all seems confusing...maybe that's what they wanted!

Very few people seem to be understanding what discount they are really getting and a lot of people are reporting that the CMs don't know much about them either.

I'm trying to do math to see what some of my back-up options are going to be if they don't have any AKL rooms available at 35% off by the 10th. Then I have to decide whether to just take what I can and still stay there, switch to another resort like the Poly where I save some but not much by the time you account for the difference in cost, or see if the POFQ is really only 5% discount, or go to POR or WL...so may choices!

I think that if I can't get a RO offer for AKL for 35% then I'll see if I can get the WL at 25% off or maybe Poly for 35% off.

Hopefully I have a patient and knowledgable CM

$1,200 more is definitely not fun to see!!

I think I used the same formula you figured out, which would mean we'd be paying $61.54 a day for DDP as opposed to $99.97 a day. That would save us money from what we've currently booked but RO sounds like it'll be better.

We put the S/P/D discount on our package with Deluxe DP.

We are there 9 nights, POR garden view, 3 ad 2 chil, 8 day hops, dxdp...

We saved about 1200.00. Free dining would still save about 500 more I believe.

We were at $7299.82 with rack rate and now we are at $6090.02.

I can not, however, tell you the formula. I won't even try to put my poor brain through that! I haven't seen many people post that the R/O savings is more than the S/P/D if they are getting the dining plan and staying in higher than a value.

The savings for s/p/d is $76.86 per night on the dining plus $18 over a 10 day trip for tickets. Only when you have 4 adults in the room does the s/p/d exceed the savings of 35% RO.

The reason for this is because the rack rates on Deluxe are so high, and the biggest discount you can receive is DDP, which for 2013 is $55.59 per night. In s/p/d, you're not even getting the full $55.59 per night, either. You're getting $44.38 of it. Had s/p/d included FD for Deluxe, it would have tipped the number of adults required down to 3 to make it a better choice than 35% off. I just don't understand why Disney offers the same exact discount on Deluxe as it does on Moderates. Some of the Moderates are 1/3 the price of Deluxe. Case in point: POR $1800 versus Poly $4408 for the same 9 nights in February. The 35% RO discount for POR is $70 per night there. The 2 person s/p/d discount is still $76.86. So, one could almost universally state that if you're staying in a Moderate, you should take s/p/d over RO.

I call upon Disney to level up the discounts on Deluxe versus Moderates! To achieve the same level of discount in Deluxe as they offer in Moderates, Disney should offer deluxe dining at Children's prices for people staying in Deluxe hotels. And, let me point out that their cost to do so is actually half of the discount (their cost of food and labor) versus the full amount when they offer a RO discount. So, offering this discount would actually net them a greater amount of bottom line revenue!

I'm not sure, but everyone I've heard getting the Q8T code as opposed to T64 (including myself) have booked Value and upgraded from QSDP to DDP. Maybe that's all it is?

Same for me I booked value and upgraded dining and the code they have on my reservation is Q8T.

use code T64 for value resorts and code Q85 for moderate, deluxe, and deluxe villa resorts

And I totally agree with everything in your last paragraph. I guess Disney doesn't think it needs to give as good promos for the deluxe resorts as other resorts? However, with the ddp if I can't get 35% RO at AKL I may switch to POR or POFQ because the cost is so much cheaper, especially considering we won't be in the room much. But we'll see...
