EBPC December 9, 2012!!! Who's in????

Thanks! For some reason, it seems like most of the flights out of Miami are insanely early. I found an 11:40am that would probably work but it routes all the way north to Chicago (7 hour flight), has a 3 hour layover, then puts me on an hour and a half flight to go back south again to home. I wouldn't get home till almost midnight. That's a little crazy.

I've considered staying over a night in Miami as well, but I just have no idea what I'd do there for a day.
We're staying one night in Miami--you can hang out with us LOL!!! We'll be making our hotel reservation this weekend, I think.

We're taking Amtrak home the next morning, and we'll be home sometime late on Christmas Day.

Beth

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

What ever order it's in, Roxy, expect the list of letters on your key card to be long - VERY long!

Seriously there is NO rhyme or reason to it on a long cruise.

On Hawaii, my rotation was PTTAPTAPTAPTAAP. Character breakfast was NOT the morning after the show dinner in Animators, as a previous cruiser might have expected, and the show dinner was NOT the first night in Animators.

Omg how do you even keep up with that????? :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I am considering calling DCL and asking. I need to call them anyway so I might as well ask! I also don't want to be in Parrot Cay on formal night.mhad that in Alaska and it was :crazy2: I wish they would redo Parrot Cay, it doesn't really fit th the rest of the ships AT ALL.

For those of you who have done the MR cruises and have been to Cabo, is this true about ship vs local time? On my caribbean cruises, I remember always changing time zones. Any info would be helpful as I don't want to book a trip that is going to have me miss the boat!
While time change during the cruise seems to be a bit of a mystery to me, I do know that when in port, ship time is local time.

Trying to figure out how to get the best deal on a rental car in Miami. We leave Monday at 12:30 from FLL, so need a car for 1day and 2hrs. I currently have a couple reservations, but because of the extra couple hours, it is running around $150 or more.
I know we will be off the ship early Sunday, so figured would be picking up the car somewhere around the Port. I don't want to spend all Monday morning at FLL in order to just pay for one day, but can't think of how to either find something to do Sunday in order to get the car later, or something Monday morn after dropping off the car.

Anyone else leaving Monday and able to find a good car deal?

We are renting from Avis (office near the port, not at the airport, will take taxi to office, no shuttle). Pick up time is 8:00am - driving to WDW and returning on Monday at MCO at 11:00 - the extra 3 hours doubles the price :confused3 We are paying $142.00 for the day. Used a discount code I found on Mousesavers.

Tammy

I'm yet another early riser. I wake up, with or without an alarm clock at 5:30 AM every day, and it's really getting very annoying. It doesn't matter what time I go to sleep, I just wake up at that hour!

I'm a walker, too. I can get up a pretty good pace--walking is part of my commute to work (two miles each way), and when the train is late I can do the mile to my office in a bit under 10 minutes! My regular pace is a lot more relaxed, however!

We'll be joining you for nap time LOL!!! Actually, DH can nap any time, any where, so he's always ready for a nap.

Beth

Love it - group nap time :yay:

Are all three of you heading to Avis? Or is one of you picking up the car and then grabbing the rest of your group at the port? Our pick-up time is also 8am. DH is planning on getting car and then coming to the port to get us. If only one of you is picking up the car, would you be interested in sharing the taxi with my DH?

DH and I planned on diving while in Cabo through Disney and we thought it would be offered since it shows the excursion time as 3 hrs and we are in port for 5 hrs.. We were disappointed when one of the Platinum cruisers (LindaBabe?) posted the excursions offered and it wasn’t listed. And it indeed wasn’t offered when we went to book our excursions. Since you can clearly tell who the dive company from the excursion photos, I thought I would contact them and book the excursion with them since they would be use to working with Disney. They got backed to me and informed me that since they work with the cruise lines, they will not book directly with the person. I then informed them Disney was not offering this excursion while we were in port. They looked into it more and they confirmed with Disney that it is indeed offered and advised me to call Disney. I checked on the website this morning and did not see it so I called Disney and after being on hold for a very long time, I was informed that it was offered but is now sold out. If it is sold out, then why isn’t it showing on the website as sold out? Other excursions are listed on the website as sold out. If it wasn’t shown as a port excursion when the platinum’s could book, then who booked it? Also, generally speaking, most divers will tend to book every dive excursion and Costa Maya isn’t sold out? I just don’t know what to think!
To add to my confusion, every other dive company I have emailed (3) keep using ship vs local time. They keep telling me that the 11:15 to 4:30 port time is in Pacific (ship) time so that will be 12:15 to 5:30 Cabo time. The private excursion gets back at 4:00PM Cabo time and if the ship is on local time, we aren’t quite sure if we want to risk only having a half hour but if the ship is on “ship” time, that gives us 1.5 hr which we are comfortable with.
Disney is stressing me out! It just isn’t making any sense to me! All I want to do is dive in the Sea of Cortez and not miss my ship:confused3

For anyone thinking of LA tours, one of today's LA Groupons is 50% or more off the Starline hop-on, hop-off bus. We'll have a rental car and had a perfectly reasonable itinerary planned; however, DH likes the idea of letting someone else do most of the driving and parking. We picked up the groupon :thumbsup2; $92 for the five of us, which is better than any of the alternative tours. There are still a couple of places we'll drive to, but this seems like a good deal. Just when I thought everything was planned.....:goodvibes

Hi everyone. We're so excited to be joining all of you on this EBPC cruise. We did the WBPC in January 2011 and decided it would be great to take the same ship back the other way. It will be me (Heather) and DH Mike. This will be our 7th Disney cruise - #6 is later this month on the Fantasy for my birthday.

We'd also like to join in the FE exchange.

Right now the plan is for all of us to go get the rental - we want to get to WDW as soon as possible, but that may change. At this point we are undecided if we will wait and have breakfast that last morning in the DR or just do a quick breakfast and get off as soon as possible. I think it will be what we call a "game time" decision :rotfl:

How frustrating :crazy2: I thought we moved the clocks to match the local time to avoid this kind of confusion. All I know is that I think I will be crazy mixed up when it comes to what time it is.

I think we might get this and do it that Saturday. I have been to LA and done and seen most, but DH never has, plus we won't have to park. well we will once, but then we won't have to worry as much about moving the car.

what day are you doing?

Saturday. DH kept saying he didn't mind driving (he's really good in city traffic, while I'm a nervous wreck!), but he seemed quite happy with this option. He's just as glad to be able to see the sights and not have to concentrate on traffic. There are only a few places I want to get off the bus (incl. Farmer's market/Grove, La Brea tar pits), so I think we'll get a great overview of the area in a relatively short time. They don't go up to the GP Observatory, but it's fairly close to the Hollywood stop, where we'll be parked anyway. I'm hoping that GP has their Christmas light display up this year; might be nice to drive through.

Has anyone seen the Griffith Park Christmas display? Is it worth the time and effort?

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Loved the LaBrea tar pits museum and the farmers market. There are wonderful trains in Griffith park, but unless you're a train nut like we are, I dunno if you'd want to spend the time at it.

Even though reports haven't been all that favorable, I think I'm sticking to my original plan to spend Saturday right in San Pedro. There's a little beach and aquarium, and a light house, and proximity to the sea.

Happy Day, all!

Sorry to the people who left me PM's had just been keeping up with the boards without signing in as work has been so busy.
Anyway replied to everyone except Liz re:certificate, for some reason it wouldnt send :confused3 Thank you but we wont be ordering any certificates this time.
We are getting more and more excited as we are finalising details and counting down the weeks :cool1:

DH plans on grabbing a quick breakfast and getting the car while we eat our nice sit down breakfast. Thanks for taking one for the team DH! If we were going to WDW, we would want to leave ASAP. Sadly, we are just headed to Tampa to visit family.

Not only am I going to be mixed up about the time but I'm sure I am going to forget what day of the week it is along with the date.

Thanks, you did have one on the list that I hadn't tried. I finally found something that will work. Will post the info on a new post.

Thanks for looking into it.

After contacting many local dive shops, I found a company that was willing to work with me and the time works with whatever time we are one (ship or local)

If there are any divers out there looking to dive Cabo, here is the information. Please feel free to join us! Diving in Cabo peaks in November, so diving should be pretty great still in mid-December. If interested, let me know and I will send them your email address for the paypal invoice for the deposit. Info is:
