Fl resident ticket question???

I am planning on taking my mom for her 70th birthday. This will be a surprise trip for her and it will just be her and I for a mother daughter trip.

Okay here my questions?

My dad wants to pay for our park tickets, they live in Florida, he is wanting to buy the FL Resident 3 day park hopper. Can he do this? as I live in Georgia? -
They have AAA and AARP. I don't want to break any rules or anything like that. I also have AAA and am old enough for AARP, SHHHHHH please don't tell anyone.
He wants to give them to her on her birthday, along with my gifts? Which are all disney related, we are doing sorta a puzzle for her to put together.

Your dad can buy Florida Resident tickets for anyone who is a Florida Resident. Since you live in Georgia, he cannot purchase a Florida Resident ticket for you.

When you purchase FL Resident Tickets, you get a voucher, not an actual ticket. When you go to the ticket window to redeem the voucher, you need proof of Florida residency.

Isn't that just about everyone in the United States and a large portion of the overseas visitors? That's why you've got to show ID with a Florida address on it!

You have to show Proof of eligibility. Here is what is acceptable proof taken directly from Disney's website which includes ID but is not limited to ID. Hopes this helps!


Florida Resident Tickets:
Proof of a Florida residential address is required. For each adult ticket purchased, you may provide any of the following:
•Valid Florida driver's license
•Valid Florida state-issued ID card (must have a Florida address)
•Valid Florida-based military ID

The persons who will use the Florida Resident adult tickets must be present at the time of ticket pick up. If you do not have one of the IDs indicated above, then for each adult ticket purchased you must provide one of the following dated within the last two months and evidencing a Florida residential address together with a corresponding picture ID (passport, driver's license, state identification card):
•Monthly mortgage statement
•Florida vehicle registration or title
•Homeowner's insurance policy or bill
•Automobile insurance policy or bill
•Utility bill
•Mail from a financial institution, including checking, savings, or investment account statement
•Mail from a Federal, State, County or City government agency

Bills can be no more than two (2) months old. PO Boxes are not accepted as proof of residency. Current bills printed from electronic versions are acceptable, though photocopies and fax copies are not.

Well ... actually ... they will still ask for ID when you pick up the ticket. They ask for ID to make sure you are who you say you are. They'll ask for that first and if the ID does not make you eligible, they'll ask you for the other document.

Otherwise, there'd be nothing to stop you from picking through some Florida resident's garbage, looking for an old utility bill or something and using it as "proof" that you have resident status.

1) For Florida tickets for adults, you must show residence to activate.
2) Children under 18 do not need Flroida ID to get Flroida discount.
3) We buy Florida discount tix for grandkids all the time (even at the gate).

Has she used the passes yet? They're very easy to purchase. Much more difficult to actually USE. Anyone from anywhere in the world can buy Florida resident passes. But you don't actually get passes -- you get vouchers that need to be turned in for passes. And when you turn them in, THAT's when you have to show proof of residency.

If her friend was truly able to purchase and activate FL resident tickets for a non-FL resident, then your family member was lucky, but shouldn't count on it for next time.

Not that this is right.... But what is to stop someone from actually picking up tickets and then handing the unused yet ticket to a friend who is not a resident?

I've never bought them - just an annual pass which has name on it. Do they scan them and do a fingernscan on the ticket?

Just as Annual Passes of any type, the Florida Resident 3 and 4 day tickets not only require a photo ID for anyone 18 or older. The name, address, date of birth and telephone number are put in the computer system. The name of the person is pre-printed on the ticket. And for the 3 or 4 day tickets proof of Florida Residency is required when the live tickets are issued.

Note that it is possible to purchase vouchers (or exchange certificates or will-call) but when these are converted to live tickets the proof of residency is required.

But I do have another question, what about Fl resident room discounts, would we be able to use that? If my Dad books the room in my mom's name? or will they kick me out or raise the rate as I live in GA now?

If the room reservation is made in 'either' of your parents name, it will be fine. They will confirm that they are eligible for the FL resident discount at check in using the same criteria and then you will be good to go. The one difference with the room discount is that only the party holding the reservation needs to be eligible (which is the first person named on the reservation) not everyone staying in the room. So no worries about your GA address!! Enjoy WDW!!
