I just switched my reservation from AoA to POR to take advantage of the Disney visa offer . We have stayed at POFQ before and loved it, hoping the same for POR. Traveling with DH, DD6, DS and DS2. Is there anything specific I need to do to get an AB room? With 5 of us, the extra bed is a must!

Just wanted to make sure that everyone here knows that a special offer came out to day for Disney Visa Holders for trips from 1/2/12-3/7/13. People are getting 30% off for POR (including Royal Rooms).

Right now it is just for Disney Visa holders but it will open to the general public on 10/10/12.

Since your youngest is under the age of 3, you are not guaranteed an AB room. Only if you book preferred; which are all AB buildings.

Yes and a preferred building is closer to the main building also.

Yes, essentially you are a family of 5; which is only allowed at AB.

The OP was not quite yet considered a family of 5, because her 3rd youngest was under the age of 3 - they don't count towards room occupancy.

A 16 year old, or anyone over the age of 3 is considered an occupant.

The reason is that it is assumed that in case of a fire, a parent would carry out the infant and they would not take up room in the walkway/corridor to exit to grade.

A 16 year old would be walking on their own and would be taking up room in the walkway/corridor to exit in case of a fire.

Great news! Thanks for the info. We are actually only counted as 3 since I have twin 2 year olds who aren't officially counted yet, but the Murphy bed is a must with 2 adults and 3 kids. So glad to hear that my preferred room guarantees that. One less thing to worry about!

If you definitely booked a preferred room at POR you are in the AB area and in the four buildings clustered close to the water and main building at that!

Really? I wasn't aware of that. Good to know. Does that change pricing etc? I know we don't need park tickets for either twin, and neither can be purchased a dining plan. So it's confusing that DIsney counts them sometimes, but not others.

No, it is for occupancy for fire codes, not anything else.

I currently have POFQ booked in February but my Disney Visa can only get me a 5% discount for that location. I am seriously considering switching it to POR. While garden room view was not available for me to book nearly all other categories are. We could save a bundle with standard view but I'm pretty sure I'd like to upgrade to river view. It will still give me a better deal than if I stay with our garden view at POFQ.

My question is - I can remember at some time reading about some people in river view rooms in either POFQ or POR being bothered by the horns from the boats. But I can't remember which mansion or building was the one where this was most likely to be a problem. Can anyone help with the answer? Thanks!

We had to upgrade from standards to garden at POR for disney visa discount to apply.

But if they booked preferred you can get those AB rooms no matter what if you pay for the preferred level.

Is there a map of specific room numbers? For eg. what room numbers are connecting and what room numbers are corner rooms? TIA

The boats turn and stop just opposite Oak, so they don't carry on past Magnolia and Acadian. And anyway, you'll hardly notice the noise with the door shut anyway - it's never bothered us in river-front rooms in Parterre or Oak anyway.
