Wireless at BWV?

The last few times we've stayed DVC, it was either hard-wired internet or we brought our own wireless router. I sort of remember hearing that all sorts of upgrades and changes had been made to internet at the resorts. Can anybody tell me the current status at BWV?

Should we plan to bring our own router anyway, if it's small, if my husband will be doing work from the room, or is there no way to hook it up now?

Thanks!

The wired connection has been turned off/removed. We were there in June in 2 different rooms for our traveling party and didn't have a lot of trouble with the wireless. There were several of us using our IPads and my husband used his laptop for work and other than having to accept the agreement every once in a while, it worked ok.

All resorts and MK and DHS are wireless now. The service ranges from just OK to crap. We have used the new service now at several resorts and the connections were slow with trouble keeping logged on. Calls to tech support helped some but who wants to spend their vacation time trouble shooting Disney's network problems?

I have been to BWV three times now since they switched to wireless only, last time in June and all three times with boardwalk view. I have had complete crap every time with connection speeds ranging from slow to why-do-you-even-bother and continuous problem of just losing the signal entirely every so often and having to start over to sign in. The Disney "suits" who decided to put in this junk should not not just be fired, they should be summarily executed.

We are all friends here, now tell us how you really feel! :dance3:

I brought my router to BWV in late April and it would not work, the wired connection was dead. Wireless worked OK for me but my friend had alot of trouble with her tablet.

I was out at VGC last week and they had both. I brought my router and hooked it up. Good thing because my laptop would not connect to the wireless and support could not help me. I hooked up my router and it worked fine. Too bad WDW could not keep both.

I'm here at the BWV right now (our ME bus leaves for MCO in about an hour) and the wireless is actually quite good. :)

Speed must depend on where you are located and the time of day. I've had good luck in the mornings & afternoons. Did not use it much in the evenings, but when I did, speed was as good then, too - as good as I get at home with my own router hi-speed service. My Kindle easily downloaded my newspaper each morning, too.

(We really lucked out this time - got 2123, one of the large standard view 1 bedrooms with the triple size balconies overlooking the walkway to the bus stop. I was surprised to see that we could even see some of the fireworks from IllumiNations from that balcony).

In contrast, the wireless in our studio at BLT (7525) was horrid. It was very slow and I had to keep "repairing" the signal as it kept dropping me. We were there 2 nights before we moved to the BWV.

Sadly, the wireless quality does seem to depend on the luck of your room assignment.

We were in a studio on the 3rd floor by the clown pool last weekend and had good wireless connection inside and on the balcony.

I expect that you are close to being back in chilly MN by now, Carol!
:offtopic: Congrats on scoring 2123! We have only stayed standard once and we lucked out and got one of the corner rooms too. I have not seen photos since the refurbishment. Did Disney improve the lighting in the dining area? It was really poor when we stayed.
Happy to hear that your wifi at BWV was okay. We have had mixed luck but perhaps we will get a good signal this time too. I am bringing my iPad when are there next week so I can go to LTE if the wifi is too bad in our room. I refuse to be hassled by connectivity issues while I am vacationing.

Yes, home now. :)

Lighting is very poor in 2123, especially in the kitchen. OK during the day with all the windows, though. Also, the shower is much smaller than those in the other BWV 1 bedrooms that we have had. Other than that, the room is wonderful!

Have a wonderful trip!

AND the shower has no place except the floor to put shampoo, etc. (or did they add something during refurbishment?) Got to love those wrap-around balconies. We were in 3123 or 4123 and could see quite a bit of Illuminations.

I'm sitting on the patio of a bwv std view one bd and wireless is fine. On a different subject I thought we'd pay to move if we ever got stuck on the first floor again, but our patio is behind some low trees so it has been ok. No morning coffe on the balcony in my Jammie's but that's been the only downside.
