Planning a Spring Break Trip to DL

I have a sister who lives in California, whom we plan to visit in April of next year. I am planning on trying to squeeze in 3 days at DL and DCA during our visit. We would most likely be visiting the parks during the weekdays, and want to stay somewhere close by. Candy Cane Inn possibly.

I realize we wont be able to see everything, but we would like to try and hit up most of the major attractions. We would also like to possibly have a character meal one morning or evening.

Any insight/help?

Hmmm. I think weekdays are the right choice during Spring Break. Not sure if it will make a huge difference but I would still do it.

CCI is a fine choice. We will be staying there next week myself for the second time.

As far as other insights, not sure what you are looking for.

When is your spring break? Not all weeks in April are equal. If you're going the week immediately following Easter, that will be busier than the rest of April. Also, if you're there that week, you will likely find it a little less crowded toward the end of the week than the beginning. Some dates and any more specific goals or questions would help people help you to plan.

My daughters spring break is March 25th - April 5th

Our family isn't the type that rides thrill rides, but we wanna try and experience most of the MK Classics, and check out Soarin, Carsland, World of Color, and the Aladdin show. I also know my daughter would love to have a character meal, but I'm not sure what is offered. My research mainly started today. I think it might be a lot to try and fit in with a 5 yr old, but I want to try and experience as much as we can. I do know we want to avoid the parks on the weekends.

Sorry to crash your thread, but my mum is planning a trip from the 20th-27th March. She is taking DS9,DD7 and DD4. I'm trying to work out how busy it will be for her. She could reverse her trip and do Disneyland at the end and would be there from 17th- 24th April. Any ideas as to which would be less crowded?

I would expect April 17-24 to be less crowded than March 20-27 since the March dates extend into the week before Easter.

OK, so your spring break is the two weeks surrounding Easter which are typically the two busiest weeks of the DL spring break period. From personal experience, I would say the week following Easter is slightly less busy than the week before Easter.

Three days with the expectation that you won't do everything and you're not big into thrill rides sounds reasonable. One of the most important things to do is be at the park gates before they open each morning. You will get more done in the early hours of the day than the whole rest of the day. Fantasyland in Disneyland and Carsland in DCA are the important first-of-the-day lands to hit.

Anyone care to guess how busy the parks might be during the week of April 7th? I keep going back and forth if we should do a spring break trip or wait until summer vacation which is approx June 20th.

I have gone to the parks during spring break for the last several years, and while it is more crowded than usual, I really find it quite manageable, especially on the weekdays. The weeks before and after Easter are heavier than the rest of spring break, but still not bad compared to height of Christmas or a busy weekend. Use FP's, get there early, take a break, and come back late. You can accomplish tons during the early morning and late night hours.
