Hi everyone!

I am officially registered for the race. There will be 6 of us running to celebrate our 40th birthday. We still need hotel and airfare, but that's for another post.

I've been running for just about a year, and have a few 5Ks under my belt. The PHM will be my first distance race. I keep reading about jellybeans, and compression things..clearly things I have no idea about. Is there anything I NEED...besides a good pair of sneakers and a sports bra to comfortably finish the race?

Thanks!

I'm also runnig by myself. I did get the race retreat for myself but I am up for some silly fun and dancing before the race. I really want to have fun and experience everything.

I want to come to :cool1:
I'll be running alone, so if anyone wants to meet up for some breakfast at race retreat, I'm in. I'm a bit nervous that I'll be all alone before the race :sad1:

Oh ITB sucks... I'm sorry it slowed you down so much!
Thanks - I was genuinely SHOCKED that I was that slow. One mile split in the middle was over 18:00! I've never walked slower than a 16:00 in training and I felt much faster than my norm in the race, but apparently not. :sad1:

Not really, so far as genuine need, though I might add wicking clothes as a need.

I hear that as long as you get there REAL early (like in the parking lot around 3-3:15) it's a piece of cake. It's getting OUT of the parking lot that is a nightmare. So I'd consider hanging out in Epcot for a while before trying to go to the hotel and change if it was me.
Good to know - that's exactly what I'm planning. :thumbsup2

Honestly, I think the first 3 miles are the hardest of any run...so you've already got the toughest in your pocket, in my opinion!

I agree with Princess V that a few pieces of tech fabrics would be a nice addition. Target has a good line at a really nice price point. The other thing that I really love is a good pair of running socks. I run in Experias. Not cheap, but super worth it, at least for my feet.

Great !!! So far there is just a couple of us that want to meet up at the retreat. I think it's a great idea and will be more fun then eating alone. I really want to have fun at the race retreat !!!

I should have chimed in on this thread a while ago but I try to stay busy with one thing at a time. I just did the TOT last weekend and am getting ready to sign up for the Princess half :cool1: Although after last weekend I am not feeling like doing any running for a while, it was brutal.

I think this sounds great!! I will be there!

Are we all 40?? I'm feeling more and more on this thread at home everytime I read that :) :rotfl2:

I would put Bodyglide and sunscreen on my must have list...even 20 yr old princesses chafe. I can only imagine what this will be like for me at 40! It helps your clothes not cut into you with the repeated rubbing. Some people use vaseline, but bodyglide lasts longer.

50 checking in here. I'll be running with my 20 year old daughter. Have two halfs, one 10 miler, and a few 10k's under my belt. Just started running 1 1/2 years ago - and loving it.

And a big YES to the Bodyglide. When I got sunburned this past trip for the Tower of Terror race, Bodyglide saved the day as I used it against the parts of my shirt and running bra that was touching the sunburn. Never felt anything after that.

I'm turning 40 in 2013 too! Figured it was as good of year as any to do my Coast 2 Coast!

And a good year to dress up and be silly! :cheer2:

oh, I like the idea of a roll call!

41 here, I've been running consistently for 4 years or so. Under my belt race-wise are 7 halfs (or is it halves? LOL), a couple of Warrior Dashes, an annual 5 miler turkey trot, and a handful of 5Ks.

5 years ago if you would have told me that I'd be typing that paragraph I would have thought you were insane...so if you're a new runner and question your abilities - you can do it!!!

Uh oh, only 36, can I still join you :)

I just started running in January after some preschool moms talked me into running a marathon relay with them. I ran that in May, then hung up my shoes for two months until my husband suggested I run the PHM. I ran my first 10k on Sunday. While I can't say I m addicted, I love how I feel after a good run. I need some good running shoes and then I may be in love.

I also just signed up for my second half marathon in May 2013, I will be running that with my dad who will be 74 and only started running about 8 years ago.

34 here. Live in NJ.
I started running in August again after not running for about (cough) (cough) 9 years.
I've only run 3- 5k's so far in my life- 1 was all those years ago and the last two within the past month!

Turning 40 in 2013 -- along with many of you! pixiedust:

I will be alone, and in the Race Retreat as well. I can't wait to meet all of you -- and see all the characters in the tent!::MinnieMo:tinker::ccat::tigger::mickeyjum: I am a true Disney character stalker!!! My husband laughs and says, "You know it's a 16 year old kid in a costume, right?!?" Party pooper!
