Yacht Club or Polynesian?

We haven't stayed at the YC, but we love everything about the Poly :goodvibes. We have stayed at the BC and the Poly rooms are much larger and would be a little more spacious for 5 people, IMO. The beach is great for watching the fireworks and it's magical having a distant view of the castle from just about anywhere on the Poly grounds :cloud9:. Plus it's convenient being on the monorail to visit the CR and GF, as well as being within walking distance to the TTC to catch the Epcot monorail. But with all of that said, I don't think you can go wrong with either one as they are both beautiful resorts (we are trying the YC in July 2013 ;)). Good luck :wizard:.

We've stayed at both, and while both are wonderful if I had to choose just one I'd go with the Polynesian. The rooms are larger than those at YC and there's something a bit more magical about the south seas theming. That being said, you might want to consider where you'll be spending most of your park time. If EPCOT/DHS, then go with YC. If MK, then the Poly is your place. :thumbsup2

I'd have to go with the advice of the PP. Consider what park you'll spend most of your time, and choose accordingly.

...if I had to choose, I'd go with the Poly. Monorail access to parks, and a lot of dining /entertainment options within the monorail loop resorts.

We would be spending most of our time at MK and AK (which, I realize, is close to nothing but my children absolutely love it!).

How is the pool at Poly?

Tagged cause I'm debating the poly or YC/BC for our next trip.
I would like to experience the pool at the YC/BC but we are going to be doing a lot of MK stuff on our next trip as well as DTD and the bus from YC/BC is my bigger concern.

with the ages of your kids, and the fact that you plan to spend a lot of time at MK, I would choose Poly. In a few years, when your kids are more in the 9-12 age range, I would choose YC or BC.

Poly for me! I love arriving to the MK and Epcot on the monorail. There is just something special about it. Sure you can take the monorail from TTC but if staying at the YC, the resort buses drop you off right in front so it is an extra step to take the monorail. The Poly is just so special. Stayed at the YC once and loved the pool, it is better than the Poly pool, and no hot tub at the Poly. But I would still choose the Poly over the YC any day. We are also a family of 5 and were very comfortable in the room.

Which would you choose for a family of 5 and why?

I love the BC/YC area much more than the Poly mostly because we really love the Epcot area. But with the age of your children I would definitely pick the Poly. The ease of getting in and out of MK with young kids and the monorail is worth it And the rooms are huge.

And it is an easy monorail ride to Epcot.

If you are swimmers, BC/YC cannot be beat. The sand-bottom kiddie pool is perfect for little ones. If you are mostly park people with only a few pool stops, poly is the way to go.

I've stayed @ both. I'm probably biased as Epcot is my favorite park.
My Poly room had no balcony. My 'garden' view included a view of the parking lot. The volcano pool was small and not policed for non resort guest swimmers. No hot tub. The lobby while beautiful was hard to enjoy as it was crazy busy w/ people wandering through or waiting to dine. You have to walk outside to get to your room from the lobby. Monorail had several mechanical issues and when running was jam packed w/ people going to/from MK - resorts to dine and to the TTC @ park closing. Room decor was dark. Bathroom fan sounded like a jet taking off. On a positive note, the CS was good. The grounds are lovely and you can walk to the Epcot monorail.
My YC room had a lovely balcony and overlooked the wedding gazebo (as well as the lighthouse.) SAB was awesome. The lobby was relaxing with nice seating areas and there were nice areas to sit outside, as well. I could walk/boat to DHS and Epcot. The room was in better shape and was lighter/brighter.

We love BC so my vote for you is YC. Everything is wonderful there! The CM's are spectacular, SAB is incredible and the walk to Epcot and DHS is an added plus. It is such a relaxing resort! Plus, BC/YC is a tad cheaper than Poly.

Anyone know the sqquare footage of the bc/yc vs poly?
After reading all these post I'm now leaning on the poly.

Havent stayed at YC but stayed at BC and Poly and I say Poly! The view from the Poly cannot be beat! The relaxing atmosphere and the service cannot be beat and the close proximity to MK and the conveinence of the monorail is amazing!

Its like a 5 min ride on the monorail to MK and if you want to go to EP its just a quick 7 min walk to TTC (beautiful walk thru Poly grounds) and a 5 min ride on the monorail to EP!

You can watch EWP and Wishes from the Poly Beach and the music is piped in!

Now if EP/HS and Boardwalk area is where you plan on spending most of your time I say Yacht Club..You can watch Illuminations from some spots on the Boardwalk!

Pro's of Poly:

- Monorail to MK and Epcot
- Beautiful
- Watch wishes from room or beach
- Watch castle change colors from room or beach
- Listen to MK music from room or beach

Pro's of YC:

- MUCH better pool
- You can walk to either HS or Epcot
- Access to Boardwalk for some nightime fun.

Cons of Poly:

- Price is a bit higher
- Busses tend to be slower to AK. I find this true of Poly and GF (we have left from both to AK)
- Pool is nice, but no YC/BC.

Cons of YC:

- Must walk through Epcot to get to monorail or ride bus to AK or MK.
- Convenience not as great unless you want to spend most time at Epcot/HS.

Any others?

Thank you all for taking the time to respond! We're still undecided though! My husband and I love the theming of the Poly (He lived in Hawaii for 3 years while in the military and thinks it looks like fun and I've wanted to stay there since I went to the luau as a child.) My husband's jaw hit the floor when I told him the price though, and this is for value season! We are used to paying $120 for our off-site rental but I keep telling him this is for the experience and there's a good probablility of free dining when we go which would help justify the cost. We'd want to be guaranteed a balcony/patio room though and I'm not sure that can be done at Poly. :confused3

On the other hand, YC would definitely give us a balcony/patio and the pool looks like it can't be beat for the kids.

But Poly is on the monorail - how easy and fun!

But from YC we could walk to Epcot and DHS!

Decisions, decisions! We are fortunate that we are finally able to afford one of these rooms for a few nights. We want to make the right decision!

Poly will gauruntee you a balcony...You will just pay extra. Book a TP view room.

How many nights will you be staying? Have you considered doing a split stay? This way you can enjoy both resorts and don't have to choose!
