5th Annual Christmas Shopping Thread

So for those of you waiting on that AG free shipping code, I know that one always comes in the fall.... but I can't remember about when. October? November? Anybody know? A few of the items my DD wants are back-ordered until December already & I'm scared that if I wait too long we will be out of luck. But I really hate paying for their shipping, cause it's so high! Anybody remember when the Free Ship has come out in years' past?

TIA!

I feel the same way! If we wait too long we may not get it! I was thinking October, because every year I already have her stuff bought and miss the free shipping.

I read on another board it was usually early November but pure hearsay on that one.

I'm 99% sure AG free shipping came out early November last year because I ordered the Tiki Hut for Kinana just before Halloween and I think the darn thing arrived at my house the day free shipping was released.

I was in Target today looking for ideas for my dd's birthday next month. I saw a few Furby's marked down to $27. They said "internet sale." Anyway, I wasn't planning to buy one of those things. They're normally $50. But I was compelled to buy a blue one and keep my receipt. :rotfl:I asked the cashier and she said they were bought online and someone returned them and that's why they are marked down. She said they are still returnable if I change my mind after Christmas.

You could easily craig's list it for 20 bucks over what you paid for it anyway!

I bought this http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Root-Beer-...349222261&sr=8-3&keywords=rootbeer+making+kit today..it is a kit for making your own root beer at home. I'll probably give it to my 10 year old niece, since she and her Dad do a lot of different kinds of cooking. I got it at BJs, and it was $14.99 I think it is exactly the same as this kit that Amazon is selling for $27.99

That's so cool and what a sweet deal! You'll have to let us know how the root beer turns out!

Now I really know I'm nuts. Ever since I saw it in the Fisher Price catalog last year, I have wanted to get DD the Loving Family Home for the Holidays dollhouse for the Christmas after she turns 3.

http://www.fisher-price.com/en_US/brands/lovingfamily/products/64177

It normally costs $200. Well this week my mom got an unheard of reward certificate from Toys R Us to allow her to buy it for $100. DD just turned 2. I now have her Christmas present for Christmas 2013 stored at my mom's house. :rotfl2:

Oh, this is a great idea for my 13yo! I don't have a BJ's membership so I think I will keep an eye on it on Amazon and see if it goes down.

I would go ahead and give it to her this year. DD4 got one when she was 2 and loved it. Then last year she got a couple new sets of furniture. DD2 plays with it ALL THE TIME and has for awhile now. I will say that both of them are more interested in the people (particularly the babies, they fight over the babies) and the furniture than the actual house but I still won't even consider putting the house away. I really love that there are so many sets you can get to add to it. I am actually considering adding a camping set of some kind this Christmas since all the people have started sleeping outside anyhow. Oh, and the sets hold up amazingly well. My kids are really rough on toys and with the exception of doors coming off the minivan, we've had no breaks of any kind.

I've been debating that, but I already got her the FP Little People Disney Princess castle and it seems like too similar of gifts (same type of play). So I want to space it out a bit. I think this year she's also getting a doll cradle and doll high chair.

I have and honestly, while they fit, they aren't made that well and don't hold up. I've had better luck with the 18" doll clothes at AC Moore (formerly Ben Franklin here) holding up than the Target brand. I also just found this site....www.sew-dolling.com and just ordered a few sets of clothes from them. They are really nice and made well and a heck of a lot cheaper than the AG brand. I got DD the tap outfit (she's a tapper), a jeans & sweater set and the rock-n-roll outfit.

Now the accessories for the 18" dolls at Target are just fine. We have the trundle bed and a couple other things and they hold up and seem to made well.

I think the Target clothes are fine. My DD plays with them a lot and we have had no problems with quality. AG are nicer, but Target ones are pretty inexpensive. We got a really cute camping set for the AG from Target. It comes with tent, sleeping bag, lantern, hotdog on a stick, etc. Fits AG girls too and was affordable.

I just found this thread and am so excited! Wish I'd found it earlier! By the looks of it, I'm behind on my shopping (which is not a surprise...growing up my dad and I were always part of those crazy Christmas Eve crowds of procrastinators! :rotfl: I've gotten a lot better now however)! Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year! I especially can't wait for this Christmas because it'll be DD's first!! She'll be six months at Christmas! Oh my goodness I'm so excited!

I've read through the thread so far and have already picked up some really good ideas for family! We have a lot of people to get something for! The list just keeps getting longer as the family grows too!

Here's who I have on my list: DH, DD, DH's dad, mom/fiance, and nephew. Then on my side we have my parents, two sisters, brother/sister-in-law, neice/husband, nephew, grandparents, aunt/boyfriend. We get something for all the pets in the family as well (six dogs altogether including our's, but they're easy!). It's crazy :crazy2:, but I absolutely LOVE finding something special for everyone!

So far, I do have a three-piece outfit and two shirts for DD that we got on sale at Children's Place. I will also be getting another outfit or two (hopefully I can contain myself), a few new books and probably a few toys.

And then some ideas for a few others.

For my mom and dad: a set of good steak knives (since their's are old), an electronic photo frame with pictures of DD on it, and something that says Grammy and Pappy from DD (t-shirt, mug, something). Probably some form of candy for my dad and coffee product for my mom as well. Not sure what else.

For DH's mom and fiance: A digital photo frame with pictures of DD on it. Then a hat for her fiance (he collects baseball caps) and an AmazonKindle gift card and perhaps a coffee product for his mom. Need something else for her fiance though.

For my neice, older sister, and aunt: A pedicure and/or manicure set maybe? I saw a specific one suggested wayyyy back in the thread but I can't find it now...anyone know of any good, but not crazy expensive sets? I also just found a Disney Villains nail polish set on the Disney Store website for my aunt to go with the pedi/mani set maybe.

For my sister-in-law: A AmazonKindle gift card maybe.

For my brother, neice's husband: A Lowes gift card I think.

For my younger sister: I already have a mini-digital picture frame key-chain for her. But also want to get the Hunger Games DVD (she'll be tough this year because she's living in Germany and can't really take many things back with her). I'm kind of stumped on any other ideas for her that could be useful, but easy to pack in her suitcase. She's 22, any suggestions?

For DH: A book on Ferraris (he's obsessed) and probably one by Neil Degrassi Tyson. Also, a previous poster mentioned the new Jeff Dunham DVD coming out so that's a must and maybe another DVD. Also a Christmas ornament. Plus something from DD (a daddy t-shirt or something). I'm also thinking some kind of tool, but I'm clueless in that department. Again, suggestions? Not looking to spend over $100 for it.

I'm completely stumped on DH's dad, both our nephews (ages 8 and 21), my grandparents (always SO hard!), and aunt's boyfriend (also difficult!). Also, if anyone has any other good suggestions on things for six month old DD...I've never had a baby to buy for before and get very overwhelmed when I look for things! I welcome any other suggestions for anyone listed above as well!

Sorry, such a long-winded post! Just hoping to get shopping done early this year and I have a tendancy to sit and stew over things way too long!

Welcome aboard!! :welcome: Glad you found us and are enjoying the thread!! We have lots of ladies with great ideas on here!!!!!

I have gotten so many ideas here in the past. I need help with a winter gift basket for Xmas. I am getting my bro an his GF a gc for snow tubing. I thought of putting some hot chocolate in but I do not know what else. Nothing big since the passes are pricey. Thanks!

Chapstick!

My big score of the season has been 3 Samsung Tab 2 7 Student Edition tablets for $250 each. The student edition comes with a keyboard and I forget what else, and sells for the same price as the regular Tab 2 7. I researched and researched and finally bit the bullet 2 weeks ago and got them at Target. Three days later I couldn't find them online anywhere!!!

Today I went to overstocks.com and got dollhouse furniture-- 6 rooms for $56 total, free shipping.

Sunscreen, hand lotion, and saw the posting for Chapstick, good idea!

We went to a local festival last night and I found a wooden angel for my mom. One more thing to mark off the list!

Good luck to everyone and keep the great ideas coming!

So Bath and Body has a 10 off 30 coupon out. Does anyone know if they frequently have coupons that are better? I want to buy my 10 year old a few things for Christmas but I'm not familiar with that store.
