October 1st, 2012
First off, a big HAPPY 30TH BIRTHDAY to Epcot! And happy 41st birthday to Magic Kingdom! AND happy 14th birthday to Fantasmic!
Not only is this a huge day in Disney parks history, but it is a huge day in MY Disney history!
Today is the day of my Disney College Program phone interview!
I just wanted to shoot out a quick real life update to let you all know that tonight is the big night! Tonight, October 1st, 2012, is the night that Disney is going to call me. The night that I have been waiting for MY ENTIRE LIFE. This. Is. IT!
Any last minute prayers would be greatly appreciated! Think of me at 8:30 pm and hope that I'm saying all of the right things to accurately portray my passion for Disney!
For anyone who's wondering, we find out the results approximately two weeks after our phone interview. However, this could mean anywhere from 4 days to 4 weeks. It'll be a complete surprise!
When I receive that email, it is going to be one of the most emotional moments of my life. I can only imagine.
But let's get through the phone interview first.
Thank you so much for all of your kind words and thoughts! I will get to your comments as soon as I have a free moment... however, I don't know when that will be.
AHHHH WISH ME LUCK!
Oh yeah... and THREE DAYS UNTIL DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!
I am so excited for life right now, I can't even tell you.
EEEEEEEEP here we go! Only a few hours left!
And I found the perfect image on tumblr......

We will be doing our family's first Christmas time trip this year and I jotted down so many little notes to remember and help along the way I am beyond excited for this trip... maybe more so than my girls which is hard to believe
BLT is great and you guys had an incredible view! We stayed there a month after the initial opening and it was an amazing experience... especially the fireworks~ I still remember those!
I cked your HHI thread out too... we just did spring break there in april and really enjoyed it as well. Lots of great seafood which I'm a fan of esp since I grew up on the gulfcoast however my husband and I missed the all around dis service... it's something we've really started to notice when taking our R&R. The upbeat happy attitude really goes a long way. I think part of why we love our dis vacays so much is due to the service... dis definitely does it right

YAY!! Am sure your interview went fantastic!!!
I LOVED all your info from Haunted Mansion. You talked about the ballroom scene...it is one of my favorites as well! We lucked out on our last trip. The ride stopped right as we were in the middle of that scene. So for about 8 minutes we got to stop and take every detail in. It was so neat to see things I had never seen before!!!
Jealous of your Disney Trip coming up!!!
Jess congrats on how far you've come in the whole process! I think you would be absolutely perfect for their program with the passion you have for Disney alone!!!!

Alright, so everyone keeps asking how the heck my interview went! For your reference and mine, Im just going to type out the whole story.
Around 7:30 pm I finally finished all of my classes and meetings for the day. At that point I just put up a Do Not Disturb sign on my door and went into my room. I called my Mom, read over my questions/answers, went on twitter, and disboards.
I listened to some Epcot music, started saying a little prayer for my interview, and then at 8:22 pm I got a Blocked call. IT WAS TIME.
I answered the phone and I was greeted with less-than-enthusiastic Tiffany. Im not going to lie, but I was a little disappointed with her tone. She did not sound very excited to talk to me on THE MOST EXCITING DAY OF MY LIFE. But I digress. I made the best of the situation. I was smiling through the phone, so thats the important thing.
She started off by asking, So you have worked for the Disney Company in the past, correct?
Hahaha ummmm no, I have not. I feel like I have at this point! But I havent, no.
I WOULD get mistaken for a cast member. My life.
So we got more into the interview. She asked the ever famous Why Disney? question which I was very prepared for!
Then right away she asked about my past work experience, which really gave her a feel for what I could do. Im glad I had a lot to include because I feel like this section helped me a great deal!
Then she asked me a bunch of general work questions.
Do you prefer to work at a slow or a fast pace?
If you were overwhelmed and knew that you were unable to complete your tasks, what would you do?
Do you prefer working indoors or out?
Do you work better as an individual or a team player?
I was all prepared for those, thanks to doing some research ahead of time.
Then we got into the roles. She told me to explain my top two. That was strange to me because usually they ask top three. However, I was banking on explaining the crap out of my top two and brushing off the third anyways, so this worked out well.
I started off with BBB Hostess, which went well. I read off what I had prepared. After that, she asked if I had been to Disney World before. I told her that I had been there about 25 times, and that was impressive to her. Then I explained my second role, Concierge.
However, I didnt get any feedback from her for either of these roles. She didnt ask me any questions about them. It was strange. I dont know whether or not to take that as a good or a bad thing. I may have thoroughly explained myself, or maybe she wasnt interested. Who knows.
I put interest on a lot of different roles, which I sort of regret doing. Even if you put LOW interest, YOU WILL STILL BE CONSIDERED FOR SOMETHING. So if you really dont want to do it, PUT NO INTEREST.
She talked to me a great deal about Vacation Planner. She asked me what do you think guests expect from a Vacation Planner? as well as if I have dealt with sales in the past. She told me that Disney needed people for this role who were familiar with the ticketing system and had a great deal of knowledge about Disney.
As much as I would love to do that role, I told her straight out that I thought that Vacation Planner was an offshoot of Concierge Role and that I feel like I would be better suited for Concierge because of the Dining Reservations aspect. I hope I got that message across, but she asked me a great deal of questions about Vacation Planner. Ah well. But maybe that was because I didnt explain it myself. Who knows!
She also mentioned Merchandise and said it seemed like I had a pretty good amount of experience in a setting like that. I told her that I have never worked in retail, although I have worked a cash register before.
She briefly mentioned that I put down attractions (as low interest, mind you) but didnt ask any further questions.
She talked about Character Performer and had me sign up for my audition.
She didnt even mention costuming, photopass, or character attendant, which I believe I put as either high or moderate interests. Hmm!
So at the end of the interview, she asked if I had any questions. I asked if I could go back to BBB because I didnt get to explain my hair and make-up experience, however she said that I explained myself enough during my work experience to cover that section. (Costume/Make-Up Crews for many musical) So alright, thats good.
Then I asked her how she started working for Disney. She said that she started 14 years ago, and that she began at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. She worked there for 10 years and then went into casting. She said that she wouldnt want to be anywhere else and that Disney was a great company to work for.
I told her that I wanted to work for Disney in the long run and that it has always been my passion. She said that she could tell I was very passionate and knowledgable about Disney, so thats a WONDERFUL sign! Thats exactly what I wanted my interviewer to notice.
Lastly, I thanked her for her time. Its difficult for someone to get to know you over the phone and in such a short period of time, but I hope I did a decent job!
I thanked her again by name we said our goodbyes.
Phone Interview Time: 23 minutes. Solid.
And now the waiting game begins!!!! I have done all that I can! It is time to leave it in God (and Disneys) hands!

Well&. only a little more than 24 hours after my interview I got pended for the Disney College Program.
This means that Im basically on a waiting list and my wait could last longer than the typical 2 weeks. At the latest, Ill find out on December 14th.
No one really knows why people get pended. Some people freak out because they think they will be denied, but a lot of pended people end up get accepted.
I felt very confident with my answers and I am confident in my passion and knowledge for Disney. Everything happens for a reason, and I believe that they pended me because they are trying to find the best role to place me in.
This wait is going to be so suspenseful. But I am beyond excited to see the results! Gotta trust Disney on this one!
THE OLD MEN! Literally they're my favorite part of the show. I enjoy quoting them regularly.
