So all this talk about pins and discounts and dates and so forth got me thinking if I would be willing to try to change something if our dates ended up not lining up with anything that's offered, I ended up deciding that we should probably just keep things as is regardless, since after all I planned and budgeted assuming we would be paying rack rate.
But in the process, happened to be poking around on the reservation website and discovered that a garden view room at YC was showing as available on 4/25. It hadn't been when I made the reservations earlier, so I had booked that night at AoA instead, technically giving us a split stay. Which was going to be a bit of a pain, though DD was super excited to try out a Lion King Suite. But I convinced her that it was worth it to give that up if it meant not having to check out of the hotel at 7am on our last full day. (Our flight leaves at 8am the next morning, yuck!)
So I was able to get our package extended by 1 night, and cancelled the AoA that night. Now our whole trip 4/18-4/26 will be at YC It will definitely make things simpler. Plus we'll have 3 more DxDDP credits to use, which means we will only be 1 short instead of 4.
But part of the deal was that I promised DD we would find a chance sometime next year to do a short stay at AoA, since she has been REALLY excited about the LK suites ever since they were announced. (My parents live in south Florida, so we sometimes make a mini-trip to Disney when we go visit them). Have to figure out when will work best for that. I know we will be there for Thanksgiving next year so that might be an option, hopefully she can wait that long!
This also frees up our last night a little more - I had thought that since we would have just checked into a different hotel we would mostly hang out there after lunch, so we could have some time to explore and swim. But since we're not moving resorts after all, I guess the whole "World" is open to us, so I'll have to figure out how we want to use those last few hours.
And just over 2 weeks until I can make our ADRs - all 20 of them!!!
