We are getting closer to ELF ON A SHELF! And I have always loved coming to DIS Boards for ideas!!!!! :thumbsup2 Would love some ideas again this year! I have a few ideas for this year! My daughters elf comes the day after Thanksgiving and my daughter just adores her silly little Elf Frankie! ;) Here are my 2012 ideas - Some I have done before but Frankie repeats ideas :)

1) bought halloween GREEN temp hair dye ($2) - going to paint her RED HEELER with Green for Christmas (this is going to be great I think) so she will have a Christmas dog - might even try to find him a santa hat or something to go along with this idea

2) Frankie will take pictures of himself around the house and post to his facebook page (Yes Frankie has his own facebook page and has talked to my daughter all year long and even chatted) Funning pictures that have a small part of him on making it look like he took them.

3) Horse Show with her Breyers and Barbies (place them out in a horse show with Frankie riding)

4) Movie Night - Makes popcorn and brings a new christmas movie :)

Anyway those are a few of ours - Hope to hear of yours! :) I am watching for cheep and free ideas for more Frankie Elf Fun! :cool1::lmao::rotfl2:

I love this thread every year too. This will be "Jolly's" second year at our house and he also comes the day after Thanksgiving. I am looking forward to all kinds of ideas. I was not as creative as I had wished to be last year as we had a 1 year old and Jolly had to stay up high a lot LOL. I love the Facebook idea!

It will be Rainbow's 2nd year as well. She has been caught roasting mini marshmallows over a tealight (blown out) using toothpicks (I taped it to her hand and yes, browned the marshmallow too!). She has come back with a skirt and earrings (those gem stickers). She came back with a maribou feather boa (ribbon trim) and snowflake buttons sewn onto her outfit. She's tried on Barbie clothes in front of the mirror. She's been in a canoe with Santa, hidden in the tree, hung on another santa (holding 2 chocolates) and hid in the nativity scene. She also sat at a little vanity of DD's toddler Rapunzel doll. If you look on flickr, there were some cute ideas, including a tuxedoed elf wooing Barbie at a dinner.

I'm in. DD was only semi-interested last year. She is at a very magical age now, so I think it will be fun for both of us :thumbsup2

I have a whole board on pinterest for ideas for our elf. I can't even remember if we named hIim last year?! My dd was slightly interested, but earlier this year she asked if Santa was real ... soooooo, maybe her elf will cement that magic is real.

If not ... maybe I'll finally have #2 next year and she can help me with the elf.

What is an elf on the shelf?:confused3

I just saw that you posted this on two threads and no one's responded.

Elf of the Shelf is a book http://www.elfontheshelf.com/ that gives your child the idea that Santa sends an elf to keep an eye on them. But the elf gets into trouble and makes mischief.

Honestly, we have this elf and he's kinda creepy, but he's pretty awesome at posing. It's a cute idea, but like I said, my 7 year old isn't sure she believes anymore, so I don't know if we'll get to do it this year.

SO FUN!!! I cant wait to see what everyone comes up with. It will be my DS first year with his elf(he will be 1.5) so not sure how it will go over this year, but with store the ideas for years to come :thumbsup2

Our elf did the following last year:

"Snow Angel" in sugar on kitchen counter
spelled out "ho ho ho" in red and green m&m's
toilet papered the bathroom
hung clean socks on the tree
went for a spin in the Barbie car
played candyland with other dolls/stuffed animals
drew with window markers on family pictures
made snowmen out of marshmallows (decorated them with a sharpie)
hid in the freezer while wearing a barbie scarf
rode in our barbie princess carriage
got tangled up in christmas lights on our entryway table
"ate" christmas cookies
"watched" a holiday movie with popcorn
colored a picture

I know there were more but I'd have to go back and look at the pictures to see.

There is a story about an Elf that comes to watch over your house at the holidays to report back to santa - people do it differently and I do it where our elf does silly things every night around the house... its been a real hoot - my daughter adores her elf!!! its fun for me too

woohoo i'm in again too!!! :cool1: this is also our second year for Twinkle and Snowflake i'm loving the dog idea :thumbsup2

SO excited for Pippy to return!!!! :)

Is there a way to flag a thread so I can easily find it back, especially if it isn't near the top of the list anymore!?!? I will need these ideas!! :santa:

Woo hoo! My daughter loved this last year so I'm thinking this year will be even more fun. I also have a Pintrest board (I'll share it when I'm not on my phone) and got some great ideas from there. My daughter's favorite was when Figby dyed the milk pink, she thought that was hilarious, the husband...not so much.

My daughter's teacher had this one year, and now my other daughter is in Kinder and will probably have it... maybe it's time we started this.

The pink milk would be hilarious. And I can totally imagine our elf evicting all the barbies from the dream house and movin' on in... I'll have to see if I can find one... but what to name him...

This year will be our second year with our elf. Last year my daughter had fun looking for him but didn't really understand, I think she will really enjoy seeing him make messes this time around. We won't get home from our vacation until the Monday after thanksgiving so I am thinking I will sneak in the kids room before we leave and set up their little tree and make a huge mess that looks like our little elf did it. We will just have done MVMCP so they should be getting in the Christmas mood. I am really excited to see how my little ones react to him this year.

Here is my Pinterest board with Elf ideas. I'm looking forward to getting new ideas here!

Thank you Thank you for sharing the pics are priceless. I want to start this tradition for my family. My boys are older but we are always pranking each other. I think this elf would be a cool way for each of us to prank but not each other so much. Bring a new fun tradition into our Christmas.
