I really love the safety tattoos for kids, but I'm not sure I want to spend $40 on them (2 kids that I'd be buying for) We will have 3 kids and 8 adults in our party, so more than enough help watching them, but I want to ID them somehow just in case. What is your favorite way to ID kids w/ a phone number or two in a less expensive way?

Ah the dilemma.

My trip is just short of 17 days away and i still have yet to decide what to do...

Looked into the expensive ones, too much money...
Saw some people had the rubber bracelets (think livestrong) embossed w/ info
Saw some people said they just took a marker to the rubber bracelets
Thought of making a bracelet or anklet with numbered beads and elastic jewelry making material, thinking i could get numbered beads locally... i was wrong
i am at the point where i am going to just write my number on her stomach with a marker or pen! lol

I thought the same thing about a sharpie to the arm! At least then it would be near impossible to remove and they would be easily identifiable no matter where they were b/c that would take DAYS to wear off! Cheap and easy--let's brand 'em!

You could print an ID tag, laminate it, and lace it into their shoelaces or slip it thru a belt loop so it's visible from the outside. Include the child's name, your name, and your cell phone number only.

Why do you need to buy 2 sets? I have 1 $20 set of safety tats I bought 2 years ago that I've used for 2 trips. I still have plenty for our next trip where I'll use them on both of my kids this time (previous trips my youngest was in utero or unable to run!).

I have done this for several local events when DS was younger. When we went to WDW I bought a military style ID tag.

I'm thinking something crafty, like head to the local craft store and see what you can find. Make some cute bracelets or a necklace or something. The best part, everyone can make their own, and spend some family time together talking about their upcoming Disney trip! :thumbsup2

I write my cell number on the underside of his arm where a sleeve would hide it with sharpie.

I wrote it on his chest once, but it looked weird when he was in his bathing suit.

You could get shrinky dink plastic and make cool shoe tags or pendants. Or I'd go with the sharpie idea. Get the extra fine line ones if you don't want to be too conspicuous!

I had to do that one day! DD is 5 and just wore an information card in her lanyard. One day we forgot to put it on, so I grabbed the sharpie we use for signing autograph books and wrote my number on her arm!

In 2006 & 2007, when my older two were much, much younger, I used dog tags. I ordered them on eBay for about $5 each (with free shipping). They each got to pick a design they wanted (Superman & Tinkerbell) and I put about 4 lines of info on it (mom & dad's names, our cells).

Now, as another safety measure, our kids are not allowed to give out their full & complete names until it's time to verify who they are being released to. All my kids have two middle names, one of which we keep "secret". It's an added safety measure we came up with if we ever get separted.

The print your own dog tags at either Walmart or Petsmart is what we used to do when the kids were little. Then we put them on their shoe laces.

We're ordering tags that would normally attach to a dog's collar. I'm attaching it to their shoes.

We aren't doing a water park, so I feel confident in this method. As far as swimming, I wouldn't take my eyes off of them while they are swimming.

No, I meant like Marine dog tags. :rotfl2: Sorry, maybe I should have explained myself better. I'm from a military family and it's the first thing I thought of years ago when my child might get separated for me.

Hope that clears things up. :)
