I was hoping for some early reports on how the first cruise out of Galveston went!!
I guess they are all traveling or doing laundry and don't have time for those of biting our nails to go!!!

:surfweb:
How love to hear something. :)
:mic:

The trip was incredible with near perfect weather. There were a couple of showers while on board the ship. There were quite a few watching Monday Night Football on funnelvision when one of the storm hit. There were some wind and showers on Costa Maya day. Sailing was smooth and the crew was outstanding as always. I have submitted navigators for posting. Ask if you have any specific questions.

Thanks! I was hoping to see some personal navigators for this cruise.

Leaving for Magic in One week. Would you mind telling me what shows they were doing?

We scheduled all of the excursions on our own without using Disney. In Grand Cayman we went to the Turtle Farm. In Costa Maya, we went to Maya Chan Beach. In Cozumel we went to Chankanaab and also went to tour a very small chocolate factory that we found on Trip Advisor. The weather was partly cloudy with an occasional brief shower with highs in the mid to upper 80's. The full show listings can be found on the navigators. The main live shows were: All Aboard, let the Magic Begin; Twice Charmed; Villains Tonight; Disney Dreams; and Remember the Magic, A Final Farewell. I personally only got to eat dinner on pirate night. My daughter was feeling very ill. My wife and son attended the Pirate Night show and fireworks and had a wonderful time. We were able to see the fireworks from our stateroom window though. She was sad to have missed but knew it to be better. She did recover by the following morning.

Would love to hear more about Maya Chen. We are considering going there in December. Also, thank you for bringing back and submitting the Navigators for us to obsess over before our trip.

Sorry to hear that your daughter was sick. :(

Maya Chan beach is a beautiful place. The rates out of Galveston are cheaper than listed because it is such a short day there. I recommend you search their web site for the information they provide. Everything they told us was accurate. Everything was included: appetizers and welcome drinks on arrival, buffet, open bar, glass bottom kayaks, snorkel gear, golfing (of sorts). They tell you about the roads and not to expect pristine blue water beaches, which were all true. Everyone had their own covered area that might include beds, lounge chairs and hammocks. Massages were offered at $25 per half hour (much cheaper than the ship). Staff was friendly and gracious. They also offer refunds if you arrive and want to go back right away. We loved the place and would have loved to have more time there.

I have a couple of questions if someone on the inaugral has time to answer. :goodvibes

1. What was your port arrival time & what time did you actually board? (Assuming non-concierge/Platinum)
2. Is there plenty of seating in the terminal while you wait to board?
3. What were the lines like for check in?
4. Did they have "If I were not upon the sea" any night? I didn't see it on the Navigator?

Thanks for sharing :flower3:

at the port at 11:30 and were on the ship by 12:00. We were given group 6 numbers even though they were also passing out group 22 (it took a bit for our KTTW passes to be printed). That said we drove by early in the day and dropped off our luggage with the porters.

There is not nearly the same seating as there is at Port Canavaral and the set up is not quite as snazzy but I am sure it will happen. For those that know Galveston they are sharing a pier with RCCL and Princess and so the pier is smaller, less room to off load and re load your cars, if you drive, for example.

If you are using Disney transfers - when we debarked there were tons of busses and it appeared that they filled and left quickly (even though it was pouring down rain). However, waiting in a car line to move luggage took almost an hour - after we got off the ship. Also, if they don't add a bunch of porters - figure out how to handle your luggage on your own..after standing in line for a half hour, we got our own luggage and made it outside in about 15 minutes...only to wait for the car to come around :)

Grand Cayman - went to Boatswains, explored the turtle farm and swam in the lagoon. My grandson (2) loved the water slide - and he was allowed on riding on my lap....lot of exercise for us.

Costa Maya - cloudy and rainy so elected to stay on the ship. Grandson played in the splash zone.

Cozumel - been there done that a lot (and will be back there in a few weeks). Went to Carlos and Charlies and had a beer...back to the ship to hang.

Our servers were Cindy and Jonothan (Table 47) PLAPlAP for our rotation, late seating. We made sure the grandson had a snack and his food was served within minutes of ordering (If you don't see it on the menu ask - we did and Cindy and Jonothan delivered)

Flounders - the kid loved it - couldn't get him out of it. The women that watched the kids were great. Since we are going back before he is three he will have the opportunity to try it out again.

Someone else mentioned that there were some plumbing issues on Deck 6 during our cruise. We had some water leakage - apparently there was a lot of plumbing work done between New York and Galveston. They put a fan up and the floor dried pretty quickly. However, they kept a fan near by the rest of the cruise.

Thank you! Very helpful info especially about disembarking. :)

Our Port arrival time was 11:30 - 12:00 noon. We arrived at 12:00 noon and got right on board. Were eating by 12:15 pm. We were lucky that we were able to get right into our staterooms to drop off our carry-ons.

Do either of you know what time the Family of the Day boarded? We are trying to plan accordingly. Thank you! :)
