Ok Poly lovers, I need your help. Currently we are booked at the Beach Club (10/22-10/27) and I am seriously considering switching to the Poly. We would get a garden view as my bounceback only has rooms available in that category of Lagoon View CL for $800 more than what I'm currently paying.

How bad is the volcano pool crowded? I know that the guests of the GF can use it with the construction going on over there. How loud is the construction noise? How bad (or good) are the garden view rooms? I figured my only requests would be ground floor, no parking lot view :confused3

I offered my opinion on this in the resort changers thread. :goodvibes

GF has an open pool and kids splash area, so if any of their guests are still using the poly pool it would surprise me.

I didn't hear any construction noise at all when we were there last week. the pool was busy but not so overcrowded you couldn't find space to be...there was plenty of room, my 3 kids and husband were in it almost every day mid-afternoon. The "quiet" pool was just that...several times my family had it to ourselves or just one or 2 other people.

My personal opinion is there are no bad views at the poly..the grounds are so beautiful and lush... There are a few views in Rarotonga that you may see the parking lot..but I believe those are on the 3rd floor as the surrounding landscape hides it from view.

We have stayed at both the Poly and the BC, once each within the last year. We will not be returning to the BC anytime soon, if ever. We had room issues, plus the whole resort was always crowded and loud. Especially the SAB pool. :faint: Just not our idea of a vacation.

The Poly on the other hand was wonderful. :cloud9: And we can not wait to return!! The whole resort and the volcano pool was never crowded when we were there and it was summer time. I'm not sure how much the GF guest are having an impact on the Poly pool now. I'm hopeful it's not crowded when we get there!! :wizard:

I would think you would be able to have those room requests met pretty easily.

Good luck with your decision! :goodvibes

Just got an email from JetBlue that they are releasing new dates for travel this weekend!

I am so excited. Once I book those plane tickets everything is going to seem that much closer!

So after 2 days at the BWI I am so happy our next trip is back to the Poly. I like the that the BWI is newer, brighter, not as damp & no bugs. Love the dining choices. But I just don't feel the magic I feel at the Poly. Can't exactly put my finger on it. Luckily my DBF is happy at either.

Oh my goodness, I just realized our trip is in 29 DAYS!!!

That is, unless DH doesn't have a job. There are troubling rumblings. I've been planning this for over 2 years...wouldn't you know there would be a last minute catastrophe! :crazy2:

Remember the "Friends" episode when Monica and Chandler's surrogate didn't know who the father was? Either the football hero or Shovely Joe? DH and I always joke because our luck isn't exactly the greatest. Chandler's line, "Honey, it's us. Of course it's the shovel killer." is a running joke with us. :lmao:

Ah well, prepare for the worst and hope for the best is my motto!

Anyone have any thoughts about the Rapa-Nui blg good or bad. The closeness of the walk to TTC is attractive for runners coming back from EPCOT and I think I've read here somewhere that it's one of the newer buildings?

I stayed there a few times. It was my dh & I (well he was my boyfriend then). I really liked the closeness to the TTC. But with kids I think we did a night there & moved to another room (they were doing room renovations in that building when we were staying there-not fun for mid day naps). So with kids it was too far away, plus it was too far away for my parents to walk from the GCH.

That was our favorite building pre kids.

I got that same email but I had a sad face since my trip isn't until August.

I switched from the Beach Club to the Poly!!!! WOOO! So super duper excited it's almost embarrassing....wait no it's not! :rotfl2: Look out Polynesian the Malinowskis are going to be invading soon!

Guitar Rob....

My family is in your #401 post photo shot of the poly beach/pool. Lol It was magical at the Poly....I agree. :beach:

There was a lot of rain last week....thankfully, for us, if it HAD to rain, it did it when it was manageable for us. None of our pool times at the Poly got rained out. Hooray! :wizard:

CAn't wait to see more of your photos! Hope you had a magnificent trip.

Wow... that's amazing. I guess I had to take a photo of someone from the boards eventually. I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner. Congratulations, your family is also in my desktop wallpaper :rotfl: I love that photo so much.

I have been feeling the "trip is over" depression pretty badly this past week. Between that and the fact that I caught a pretty wicked cold while I was down there (didn't hit me until we were leaving, thank God) I've been slacking on posting my report and photos.

I have to get moving on that.

Here's another shot that I really liked:

Here's the full resolution shot.

Someday, I hope to take a photo that accurately captures the beauty of this place at night. I believe that it is impossible.

We finally got over to the Poly with the 30% off coupon. We were at POFQ which we were fine with, we're really excited about getting over to the Poly at almost the same price!

We leave for WDW in 10 days! YAY! This is our first time staying at the Poly resort and also any Club level rooms. When I did the online check-in this morning it wouldn't let me do any request for rooms. It just said I had to call. My question is do I contact the main reservation number or do I contact somebody at the Club Level?

Oh My.............I just hit the Listen Now button...................My entire office is being welcomed to magic kindgom!!!!

I could cry.

Thanks for that link!!

Agreed! Thank you so much for sharing. It is a great way to brighten up my day. :goodvibes

And guitarob- Thank you for all of the great pictures! I am glad to hear that you had a great trip and hope the post-trip blues will go away soon! You will just have to start planning another trip. ;)

You can call or email the CL IPO office. :goodvibes Good luck!

Just send an email to Polynesian.Itinerary.Planning@disneyworld.com with your request.

Looks like we'll be there at the same time - we're also staying club level :cool1: :hyper:

Hi all! Leaving for Disney Dec 3-12 and currently booked CL at the Beach Club. We are thinking about switching to CL at Poly because of the better food options and the view of the castle, but DH and I are HUGE Christmas lovers and are worried that we won't feel the Christmas vibe at Poly. Thoughts from anyone who has spent the holidays at Poly? Do they at least have Christmas music piping through the GCH?

I'd like to know too. I've seen little things, but I'm not sure about the grand scale.

We will be finding out on December 11th though!!!! :cool1: MrsB and I have been sitting here battling the post-trip depression pretty hard, especially since our future trip plans were non-existent.

We've discussed the possibility of taking my ailing Father back down there since he loves it so much, and was really upset when he found out we were going without him this year. We priced it out a couple of times and just couldn't justify the cost, because he's going to want to spend a lot of time napping and probably won't remember it much. It didn't seem worth the money.

He used to take me every couple of years from the ages of 3-17, and is responsible for my addiction to Disney World and the Polynesian.

Today I noticed a new discount released, so we've decided to take the chance and take him back down there. I hope that he'll be able to handle it and enjoy it. It'll be a very slow paced and shortened trip, but I'm sure that he'll enjoy every minute of it. I'm thrilled to be blessed enough to get him back there!

So, this trip will be all about Dad. We're very excited.

This will also be our first trip during the Christmas season. So, we're VERY excited about that as well.

We were there a few years ago in early December. I don't remember Christmas music in the GCH (they may play it closer to Christmas?) It is decorated, but you never get that "Victorian Christmas" vibe like the GF or the woodsy Christmassy cabin feel like the WL. I guess it's a matter of taste and what holiday atmosphere you are looking for.

ETA: Rob, well done on squeezing in another trip so soon!! Hope you have a fabulous holiday with your dad!

On another note ... I thought I posted this earlier, but I don't see it now ...
Tikiman is at the Poly now. He says the room refurbs have been pushed back to January and will start with Hawaii, the CM's say the GCH work won't start until 2018 now and they feel that the Poly DVC will be scrapped. The last two points are just what the CM's are reporting and who knows how many times that could change ... ;)

He has not reported any work or word on the pool yet.

Thanks so much for the report!!! But I really wish they would start with another building and not Hawaii - we hoped to book CL for our January stay, but of course there is no availability due to the renovations. I'm continuing to follow along here for any developments. Thanks!
