Is this email essentially the same as being denied?

"Dear Julian,

Thank you for your interest in the Disney College Program!

We are currently processing your application, and at this time your status is pending a final decision. We will be in contact with you if we require additional information.

The Disney College Program is a competitive internship and we receive thousands of applications every program season. Our team is evaluating your qualifications, and you will be contacted with an update on the status of your application by December 14th, 2012. If you are not contacted within this timeframe, please contact our office at 1-800-722-2930.

We sincerely thank you for your enthusiasm and interest in the Disney College Program. We will be in contact with you as noted above.

Best regards,
Disney College Recruiting "

I don't know anything about the program, but in general "pending" would simply mean they are confirming that they did receive your application so you aren't wondering if they ever got it. I would assume everyone gets one of those letters. Then after they have read and sorted applications you will get a decision letter.

Man this sucks after seeing all the people who got accepted earlier this week. I'm debating on giving them a call at the two week mark to show that I'm highly interested but I am wondering if that will be seen as negative.

That is exactly the same email I got (aside from my name). I can't take much more of this.

No.

If you were denied, it would be very clear that you were denied.

Your dashboard would also say "No Longer in Consideration".

This is saying that they need more time before making a decision on you. Essentially, you are on a wait list.

Here is an article on their blog that goes into more detail on it. If you need clarification, you may want to post your question there for them to answer.

That's exactly what I thought was going on. The whole some people are very clear for the role they want and others they need time to see what would be best for them. There's no reason for us to be discouraged because they are doing their job and at least notifying us about what is going on :grouphug:

Keep your dream alive unti you hear no. I got that email last Spring and four days later was accepted.

Thanks for the words of encouragement! I got pended last year and then towards the final date of when acceptances were to go out, I got denied. Hopefully 2nd time's the charm!

I'm just going to vent. By December 14th, I will have already registered for the spring semester here and have finished this semester. It's ridiculous. There is no way I can wait that long. Might as well give up now.:furious: They'll never know how much I want to do this. I would be more faithful than anyone else. Its just not fair.

just remember you might not have to wait until the end. Mine was only four days after. It could be the same for you! But if not just apply for the next semester. Good luck!!

Great words of encouragement here, that just gave me back a tad bit of that hope I lost.

no, never give up! There are a lot of use who where accepted and we are waiting on PI's if we get those...which I am sure a lot will, then we will decline the CP! So that is another option! ....never give up!!1:thumbsup2

Ally, I'm exactly the same way. By November 12th, I have to be registered for the Spring semester, and by December 12th I have to pay January's rent because that's my last day of classes before the new year. I'm a little bit stressed but I figure if it's supposed to happen this semester, I will hear from them in plenty of time! And if not.. Well, I have six more semesters of school where I can apply. My dream WILL come true! I just may have to wait on it a little bit longer :-)

They are very upfront that the notification following the telephone interview may or may not be notification of a final decision. This is nothing new.

I know you are venting, but this is just a decision you are going to have to make. Either stick with it, drop out of the running, or continue making other plans with the idea that you may need to cancel them if an offer comes your way.

I got this same dreaded email (as well as not one, but TWO letters in the mail that were identical :sad1:) last year, so I know how scary this can be! I panicked and cried and repeated the whole process over only to be accepted a couple weeks later! Don't be discouraged, I know how you feel and I've been there before! It will only make you appreciated getting accepted that much more! :thumbsup2
