Boo to You & Turning 2! Oct 2012 PTR *NEW* 10/30 We're Back! TR Link Posted!!

Awww poor DS! He looks miserable :( I'm glad he's feeling better.

Yay for staying an extra night! And I'm so glad your parents are able to come with you guys. They could use a break!

He was the most miserable I had ever seen him! Anyone who knows my child knows he does NOT just lay around watching tv...he is always go-go-going and getting into something. He was just pitiful and it broke my heart to see him that way! Thankfully though he is back to his normal happy busy self.

They are definitely ready for a break, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed everything works out for them to come. They have been looking forward to taking this trip with DS since the day we came back from our trip last year so I know they will be disappointed to have to wait another year if it doesn't work out this time.

Oops, don't know how I missed these earlier!

Poor Paxton! (And poor y'all!) Ugh, ear infections that linger like that are horrible! Avi-Kate had one that lasted for weeks leading in to our March trip this past spring. We were still giving the last of her meds while we were there. Thankful Paxton is on the mend and should be good to go for his party and the trip in a few short weeks! :thumbsup2

Glad your parents might still be able to come and that you got to save some $ at the same time. (Plus, a few extra Disney hours make it that much sweeter. ;))

I understand on the trips and everyone leaving before you. One of my dear friends, who also has APs and goes all the time, is leaving in ten days. She keeps counting down on fb. We leave the day she is coming home. Today she posted she has to survive the next 10 days and I was like I'm not that far behind you. Ha. You are in the home stretch...I bet it goes by fast because of all the birthday festivities.

I hope & pray he stays healthy & happy until our trip! These past few weeks were absolutely awful for all 3 of us.

I think you are right, with the birthday party coming up and starting to get everything ready for the trip, I think the time will just fly by! At least, that's what I'm hoping anyway...Only a little more than 3 weeks to go!!

Poor Paxton. I am so glad he is starting to feel better. That's such a drag. Poor little guy.

Yeah :cool1: for adding another day. That really takes the pressure off for your last day. You can enjoy it any way you want. Sounds perfect.

I haven't looked at the park hours. I know we have our plan and its not going to change.

That's exactly it, we can leave the park whenever we want to and head straight to the new hotel for the night instead of having to make sure we are out of the park by a certain time to not miss our flight. It will make our last day much less stressful and take the pressure off.

I was tempted not to look at the park hours myself, but I'm glad I did. I only changed 2 things around and I didn't have to give anything up to do it. We just traded an AK morning for a DHS morning. Hopefully it will only benefit us!

That's great to hear your parents will be able to make it!
Our DS enjoyed Disney Jr Live a lot during our last trip and we as 2 1/2! Beauty and the Beast didn't hold his attention as much - he fell alseep but he was due for a nap. ;)

I'm sorry to hear poor Paxton has been so sick. I hate that helpless feeling when one of my little guys are sick (well, I feel that way with my older ones too, but at least they can tell me what hurts, where the little boys cant).

Glad your parents may still be able to join you for part of the trip!

Oh no!! Poor Paxton has been so sick too! What a crazy fever. Poor thing :( sounds like he's finally on the mend though.

Awesome staying an extra night. The park hour changes have been crazy! I can't believe how much MK is open now. Only screws up 1 of our days luckily.

I'm hoping with him being a little older he can sit through the 20 minute shows now. He did okay at Aladdin in DL, but that show was REALLY long and he started getting antsy towards the end. I'm thinking he will really enjoy Disney Jr and probably Beauty & the Beast because he is in love with the movie. It's one of the only things besides Thomas he will actually sit and watch. Hopefully he is as good as your DS!!

Oh yes, SO FRUSTRATING that he couldn't tell me what was bothering him! I am ready for him to be able to tell me what's going on, what's making him cry, what's making him mad, etc. As many times as I've wished he would just slow down a bit and not be all over the place, it was awful watching him lay so pitifully on the couch feeling bad for days on end.

It was really bad, especially for him never really being sick before. It was actually his first true sick fever! He has had one ear infection before and he never ran fever or acted like he felt bad, it was kind of found on accident by the doctor. So this was like a culmination of 2 years of never being sick all rolled into one awful awful sickness that felt like it lasted forever!

I was totally surprised by how many days MK is now open really late and how many days DHS is closing super early! It really shocked me that there are two days where DHS, AK, and MK are ALL closing by 7 pm! Epcot is going to be a madhouse on those nights. That's just crazy to me, I can't believe they are going to have 3 of 4 parks closed THAT early! We will be braving the Epcot madness for at least one of those two nights because it's the night Hanson is playing at Eat to the Beat. But otherwise, we will be heading away from the parks! I'm glad it didn't screw up your plans for the most part!

So on our short, but very important, to-do list, we were able to scratch a couple of things off a couple nights ago!

Originally, my parents were going to be leaving before us to drive down to Orlando and were booking a hotel room for a night or two with their rewards points. Since we had decided to fly in on Saturday the 20th instead of Sunday the 21st, we were going to share that hotel room with them Saturday night instead of trying to add more days at Bonnet Creek (didn't have enough points to add more nights). But now that their trip has gotten shortened, they won't be driving in until Sunday to avoid paying for any additional hotel rooms. That left us with nowhere to stay Saturday night. We started looking at the other Wyndham properties around Disney World, and we found out just by borrowing a few hundred points from next year, we could book one night at Cypress Palms.

If you have followed me on previous TRs, you might remember that we stayed here for a couple of nights when we went for a weekend trip while I was pregnant with DS. It's about a 10 minute drive to the parks, and will serve our needs just fine for one night. And I'm secretly pretty happy that we will not have to share one room with DS because I don't know how well that would go, and we want to be well rested for our first rope drop morning in the parks! So we booked that a few nights ago.

Also, we FINALLY booked our return flight!! We have been watching and watching the fare for the original flight we wanted that left at 6 pm on Sunday October 28th. It was $200/person for awhile, and we should have jumped on it then because soon it went up to $248/person, and then it finally sold out! Now that we have to buy 3 tickets, that was just too expensive. Instead, we are getting a hotel room near the airport on the night of the 28th and flying out instead at 7:15 am on Monday the 29th for $125/person. Not excited about the super early morning, but the cheaper fare was totally worth it.

We still need to...

  1. Book rental car
  2. Book hotel room for last night
  3. Pack!

With only a little more than 2 weeks left, plus DS's birthday party coming up this weekend, I know we need to get a move on because the next few weeks are going to fly by! Hopefully for the hotel room near the airport, we can find something reasonable priced with a closed off bedroom so we can have separate sleeping quarters for the night. However, with us needing to get up so early the next morning and from being worn out from a week at the parks, it might not be that hard for us to all go to bed at DS's bedtime!

For the rental car, we will probably do Name Your Own Price again on Priceline and hope we get a good daily rate since we will need the car for 9 days!

And packing...well, I don't do that until a few days before anyway!

One last thing, we went shopping this weekend at Party City to get all of the supplies for DS's birthday party, and we ended up finding his costume! It looks way cuter on him than in this picture but I don't have a picture of him in it yet. He's going to be a dinosaur!

dinosaurcostume.jpg

I saw it and loved it more than the pirate or Super Grover once it was on him, so that's what we decided to go with. He is already practicing his roars!

:woohoo::woohoo: 19 Days!! :woohoo::woohoo:

I have had a crazy week and apparently got farther behind than I thought. I'm glad to see your parents will be able to make the trip though. Even if it isn't as long as they'd originally planned, it is great that they'll at least be able to get away for a few days.

I'm glad that Paxton has recovered from his illnesses. That's never fun. We're doing the "teething 5 month old with an ear infection" thing at our house this week. :headache:

I think your new plan to fly home the next morning looks like a winner. You save some money, and have a little more time on Sunday without having to worry about getting to the airport.:thumbsup2

Love the costume! He'll be super cute in it. :goodvibes

Wahoo for getting flights booked/arranged and getting your accommodations leading into Bonnet Creek finalized. I understand the whole points and borrowing /arranging we have to do it with my MIL's Marriott timeshares. It's all in the way you finagle 'em isn't it? :thumbsup2

We are all pretty happy that they will still be able to come. They definitely need the break! And they had been looking forward to it so long that I think the thought of not being able to come was really getting to my mom.

Oh no, hope your DD is feeling better soon. :( It is always so sad to see them looking so miserable and not being able to do much about it. We are finally off of all meds besides his normal vitamin & Claritin. No more antibiotics, Mucinex, Tylenol, Motrin, or Benadryl! His bathroom was starting to overflow with kiddie medicines!

Love the costume! He'll be super cute in it. :goodvibes

The costume did not look that cute when I took it out of the package, but then I put it on him & fell in love! I'll make sure we post some pics of him trick or treating in it.

The points thing is such a headache! :headache: Luckily, it will all work out because I was getting a little nervous that if my parents couldn't come this year and we had to reschedule them coming with us to next year, we wouldn't have enough points for another 2 bedroom at Bonnet Creek in October and the short vacation we wanted to take to Tennessee earlier in the year. But even with borrowing a little bit from next year's points, it should still work out okay. :thumbsup2

So glad Paxton is better. LOVE the cute dinosaur costume!! I am so excited for Halloween this year with our little ones. They will be so much more into it!

I was really excited about it last year since he was still a newborn for his first Halloween, but this year will definitely be so much better! He will be able to walk up to the houses on his own, hopefully say Trick or Treat if I can get him to say it soon, and at least he can say Thank You! So excited! Have you picked your DD's costume yet? I had such a hard time picking something! I'm looking forward to next year when he should be old enough to have an opinion.

OMG! So much to comment on...
First,
Poor little Paxton. I always hated when they would get so sick...especially that young! Glad he is on the mend, but boy did his fever get high!

So excited about your parents being able to join you for part of your trip. Sounds like you guys really have fun together so that's awesome!

And finally, great deal on your flight home. And of course, Disney math wouldn't be correct if it didn't factor in more Disney time!!!:lmao:

I have not started packing yet either. I am usually finished by now. Yikes!

Love Paxton's costume! cute!

I have been reading along but I just wanted to say good luck with the birthday party this weekend!! I can't wait to hear all about it!!

The high fevers really had me scared. I hated going into his room every night when he'd start crying and felt him on fire when I picked him up. :(

I love your take on Disney math, it's so true!! :rotfl:

I usually don't start packing until a few days before, so I'm right on track. :rotfl: Plus, trying to get this house ready for the birthday party, there is just no place for half packed luggage to go right now anyway!

Thank you. :goodvibes

I plan to take TONS of pictures!

Yea for getting airfare booked :cool1:

Super cute Halloween costume!

I know, we always get it done so much earlier than this, so I was getting a little panicked that we had not booked anything yet. So relieved to have that checked off of my to-do list!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Congrats on getting your flight booked! Your trip is so close. I'm sure you are keeping busy with Birthdays and planning.

I am curious to see how you do with your car rental. We will be taking a trip next summer with the inlaws and will need to rent a car. I have absolutely no idea where to even start. It seems so intimidating to me. Mt sister in law ended up getting a good deal last minute with name your your own price so maybe I will go that route...who knows.

I'm really anxious to see Paxtons costume. I haven't even bought Ds's costume yet. I just cant find anything that I love yet. I keep waiting for something to jump out at me. I just know I better enjoy getting to pick while I can. I know soon it will be all about super heroes and monsters. lol.

I'm excited to her how Paxtons party goes. I think I remember you saying it was this weekend. :)

I'm glad you got your flights booked and got such a good deal!

As for the rental car, I'd check the transportation forum here on the DIS, they have a car rental thread for every month, and I just followed along and found a great deal for our last trip through the hard work of the people on that thread. I don't know anything about car rental either, but they were so helpful, posting the deals and codes!

Glad you also have that first night accommodations worked out! Good luck on finding some place to meet your needs near the airport!

Oh and have a great birthday party Paxton! :)

DH is usually left to deal with booking the rental car. I know he was looking for deals yesterday while we were watching football, so I will definitely report back with what kind of deal we found or how it worked out with name your own price. We had good luck with that last year! I think you can only do one bid a day, so you start with something kind of ridiculously low and go up by $1 every day with your new bid until you get a company that accepts it. Last year I think we ended up paying $11 a day? Good luck!

We had the same problem with costumes. Then we went to Party City to buy stuff for his party and the dinosaur jumped out at me! When we put it on him, I knew it was perfect. I know we are soon getting to the age where he will want to pick his own costume, so it's probably my last chance to be a little selfish and pick what I want him to be. ;)

The party went great! I'm uploading some pictures now, so hopefully I can do a post this afternoon.

You're back! Can't wait to hear all about your trip. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the tip! I told DH and he was checking out the October thread last night looking to see what kind of deals he could find for us. Hopefully we can get something booked soon.

His party was wonderful, thanks! Hoping I can get a post up with some pics this afternoon.
