I'll find out today if my DH is cleared by his dr to travel on Saturday. He was hospitalized last week with a bad case of bacterial pneunomia and we thought we'd have to cancel the trip (and lose our points since i didn't buy the TI but honestly just thrilled he's ok). Last week the dr said he wasn't infectious any longer but a friend who works for an airline suggested he wear a mask when flying since his immunity may be compromised.:confused3DH's getting better but lost a lot of weight and is still getting his strength back and tires easily. I had suggested renting an ECV but he won't hear of it.:(

It's just he and me this trip and we do have MNSSHP, a F&W Seminar, Aquatica (where I hope he can enjoy the lazy river and wave pool at least) and HHN and RIP tour booked. We'll play it by ear and use old MYW non-expiry tix if he feels up to other days in the parks but I'm doubting he'll be up to it and all the walking.

We are still commandos at heart and don't spend much time at the resorts. Any suggestions of less physical things to do other than hanging at the resort pool? I had thought of Cirque and maybe a movie? Somebody mentioned gatorland, being a small park, but it's been years since we've been there and I can't remember the layout.

I don't know if this is something you would enjoy but here goes...

Every trip we have a rest day and every trip we make sure to book the Afternoon Tea at the Gardenview Tea Room at Grand Floridian. It is relaxing and lovely. I believe it runs from 2pm to about 5pm?

Unless I missed it, you didn't state where you are staying? That might be helpful as each resort offers something different to do. Such as AKV has the viewing areas for the animals, which one could spend some time with a nice cup of coffee or tea or cocktail just relaxing and watching the animals. There's also night googles for going out onto the viewing area in the back of the pool at Jamboo for night viewing. Animal Kingdom Lodge has a great lounge for relaxing and appetizers/cocktails or non alcoholic bevs.

Saratoga Springs has a nice spa for a very relaxing day and is close to DTD if you want to venture there by boat for a day out. Boardwalk has nice dining with little walking (as long as you're close to the lobby area), as well as the spa at the Dolphin next door. Old Key West is a wonderful resort with alot of quite pools and a nice restaurant at the Hospitality House.

Hope your husband recouperates quickly!

Saratoga Springs (if nearby) is a really peaceful resort and isn't busy at all. it also has amazing views and nice walks into DTD.

We'll be 'home' at WL:goodvibes I tried for HoopDeDoo but no luck, will keep checking jik

Admit to never venturing to SSR, probably a good idea to check it out and we could swim there if we wanted.

Have never heard of the tea, will check that out - thanks

We love AK, i hadn't thought of spending some time there. Might even be able to grab an ADR.

Unfortunately, DHs stomach is still wonky probably from the meds, but it'll save on our our bar bill this trip:blush:

I'm going to second the spa idea. I've been hospitalized with pneumonia/asthma combos a few times, and my ribs ached so bad from constantly trying to breathe for weeks on end. To have a nice massage while recovering would have been heaven.

Don't forget Fort Wilderness has the wonderfully tacky HDDR and there's the new dine in movies at the AMC movie theater in DTD

We would resort hop. Maybe test out the lounges at all of the resorts. One of our best Disney evenings was happening across the band at the GF and sitting on the couches in the lobby with drinks listening to them play.

sorry to hear he was not well, but glad to hear you have been cleared to go on your trip. Don't know if maybe you might be interested in a carriage ride? You can try the Fort or Port Orleans. Also a surrey bike rental, available at a few of the resorts. You can go over to the Boardwalk, Poly, SSR. Just a little resort hopping. WL does have some nice trails if you are feeling up to enjoy. Hope he is feeling better & enjoy your trip.

How about a horse and buggy ride at PO/RS (The old Dixie Landings)?
AKV/Sanna for dinner and watch the animals on the savanna.
Take a monorail tour of resorts - stop and rest/get back on/tour. The lobby of GF has a band playing in the afternoons, set, listen, and relax as much as you want.

POR has the River Roost Lounge with the piano man Bob Jackson who is rated very highly. I'm not sure of his schedule - he used to have a website with his schedule, but I'm not finding it.

If you have your own transportation I highly suggest a visit to the town of Celebration. The restaurants are great and the homes are decorated for Halloween like no other I have seen.

so many good ideas, i'm jotting them all down in my notes thank you all:thumbsup2. Dr said it'll take a good month until he back in fighting form and that a restful vacation will do him well.
