First time at the FT

We are planning a trip for next Halloween at Ft Wilderness. Been to Disney hundreds of times, but never camped at Ft Wilderness (have been to see Hoopdee Doo Rev though). We are DVC members and were planning a trip to BWV and just on stopping by Ft Wilderness to see the decorations, etc. The more I read, the more I thought it would be fun to add to the trip and stay a couple nights. SO, we are planning to have a pop up camper delivered for two nights. We will have a car. We aren't planning on renting a golf cart.

Where is the best place to stay with that in mind? I have a 7 and 3 yr old who will want to trick or treat and since we won't have golf cart suppose we would like suggestions on best campsite areas. Are the preferred areas near settlement worth it? Is it a far walk from the partial/tent site ( which is what I currently have a res for) to transportation to the parks, Halloween activities, etc? Could we drive our car from our site down to the Settlement area?

Not sure if I can answer ALL your questions, but maybe some. No, there are no places to park your car near the Settlement, so must take a bus/walk.

The preferred sites (100-300) are very near the settlement and definitely walkable (that's where we stay). Be advised that 100-200 is pet-free.

Any of the loops are near a bus stop so no problems there. You take an internal bus to outpost, catch a bus there to the parks. Or, in case of MK, you take a bus to settlement, take the boat.

If you want a partial site I'd pick 1500 loop. It's close to the middle. Have it noted on your res.

The internal buses stop at most of the entrances to each loop, and they are approx. 15 - 20 min. apart. Once you board one to the outpost it's just a matter of minutes, no more than 5 - 10 min. Then the wait begins for the bus to each park. If you hit it lucky, you can board one immediately on arriving at the outpost, but usually again not more than 15 - 20 min. wait. If you want to go to MK, you take the bus toward the settlement, then catch the boat.

The Fort is approximately 1 mile end to end. 1500 is middle-ish so 1/2 mile. I'd hop on a bus to the theme parks bus and boat to MK.

Agree w/the others,but definetly take the boat to the Magic Kingdom! The kids love it as well as the adults...Have fun..
