Absolute Favorite Restaurants? (for adults)

So we're doing the family thing for this trip but with our AP, DH & I are going to plan for a long non-kid weekend sometime next spring as well.

We've never taken the time for decent TS dinners while we were vacationing in our 20's but now we're ready to slow the pace a bit more & experience some great food.

But I'm overwhelmed just trying to decide what restaurants we should try! We'd like to choose some that we are better off skipping with DD8. (She behaves, but she won't slow down at Disney long enough to appreciate the dining experience. We try new foods/restaurants at home but on vacation it's hard for her to sit still long enough to finish her chicken nuggets, lol.)

So if you had to pick just 1 or 2 absolute don't-miss dining experiences/meals, which would they be?

We just dined at Bluezoo over at the Dolphin hotel for the first time this past Wednesday. Very intimate and upscale. Best meal we've had at Disney, hands down. (Although we did take our 5 year old, when she wasn't piling in the pasta, she sat and coloured throughout the 2 hour meal thankfully. )

My favorites:

Resort Signature: Nacroossee's
In-Park Signature: Le Cellier*

(*I've heard really good things about the Bistro, but I haven't been there in a really long time.)

I love the calamari, lobster, and chocolate mousse (sadly, it's not on the menu anymore) at Narcoossee's. You can watch the Electric Water Pageant and MK fireworks from the veranda outside the restaurant. The service has always been very good.

My favorite items on the Le Cellier (in Epcot) menu are available at both lunch and dinner (cheddar cheese soup, filet mignon with mushroom risotto). The only really big drawback to Le Cellier is that the tables are really close together, so you can easily hear the conservation of the table next to you.

As with any restaurant at WDW (except V&A), there are going to be children. However, I have found that, in general, if you eat late (say around 8:30 pm), you are less likely to run into small children, except at CA Grill.

Their appetizers are so good and different than what you typically find, we love the foie gras terrine and the tuna tartare. The beet salad w/ goat cheese and walnut vinaigrette! Miso Glazed Sea Bass, Dirty Swordwish, Garlic Parmesan Fries, Cheddar Grits & Greens.....

It's expensive but we find it really worth the $$$ spent.

My DH and I don't have kids yet, so when we go we love Narccossees, Raglin Road, Boma, and Yak & Yeti.

Victoria & Albert's is my #1 by a long shot, even factoring in price. A full meal at my next-best choice for an "adults" meal (bluezoo) isn't all that much less, anyway. Besides, in the realm of top-tier dining, V&A is actually quite a bargain (if you stick to the $135.00 main menu).

I also like California Grill (probably will be closed for remodeling when you come) and Flying Fish, but they can be frantic and loud. I've had some great meals at Jiko, too.

Victoria & Albert's if the sky's the limit, price-wise. Bluezoo and Jiko otherwise. Both have an excellent, adult atmosphere and outstanding food.

V&A's is of course the top tier.

Then comes Bluezoo, Flying Fish (noisy), and Shula's

Then come the Disney signatures: Jiko, Citrico's, Artist Pointe, Yachtsman, Bistro (although we don't know how this one will stack up once it comes out of its current refurb and new menus)

Then some of our favourite regular restaurants: Sanaa, Raglan Road, Boma (yes, a buffet!), Kona Cafe, La Hacienda, Tutto Italia, and Tokyo Dining.

It's really hard to narrow the list down to just the number you need for any given vacation.

Victoria & Alberts is definitely my top choice.

Second would be Bluezoo; I love this restaurant-it has a very adult vibe to it.

After that I would choose Shulas, Il Mulino or Citricos, in that order.

And, yes, V & A is the only one you won't find children at, if you really want an adult experience. Honestly, we've taken our children to all the others regularly, and we were never the only parents with children in tow.

I think someone really likes V&A's.

We're a little different. When we're at Disney, we're kids at heart. We always eat at CRT. Last time we were there, not only did we have a great time but we got to see someone get engaged! So cool.

1. Surf and turf at Rose and Crown
2. Ohana
3. Watch illuminations and share a platter for two at La Hacienda

Wow, thank you all! Lots to consider, but at least I have time to read menus & reviews. Thanks for my starting point!

I'm not concerned with avoiding other people's children while we dine, just anxious to take advantage of not having one at our table.
