We are leaving southern michigan very early on Thanksgiving day. We would like to stop for a nice Thanksgiving dinner en route. Any suggeations? I think we will be in southern TN by then, and would like to stay as close to the highway as we can.

LOL! I asked almost the identical question on another board....we are leaving Michigan the night before Thanksgiving but are also looking for a place to stop for Thanksgiving dinner close to 75. The consensus was Cracker Barrel, with warnings that they are very busy on Thanksgiving, so it probably won't be a quick meal. If you go when they are super busy, parking could be a problem, too, so make sure you have a backup plan. Someone suggested, if you can find parking at Cracker Barrel but don't want to wait a long time for a meal, getting your dinner as takeout and eating it in the camper. Apparently, Cracker Barrel prints a map of all its locations, so you can pick one up and plan a few possible stops based on where you end up around dinner time. Hope you have a great trip down!

I'd suggest a Cracker Barrel.

Also my suggestion. If you can eat around 11am, you will probably be able to beat the crowd, and get back on the road quicker. Especially in TN, there are Cracker Barrels at a lot of the exits, plus sign advertisements, so probably no need for a map. We never use one. They have pretty decent turkey and dressing during the year, so would think it's your best bet for consistency for a Thanksgiving Dinner.

My mom was from Chattanooga so every family vacation always ended there. The Country Place Restaurant is down home southern cooking. Exit at Shallowford Rd turn left and it will be on the right hand side of the street just over the freeway. http://countryplacerestaurant.com/
