Quick question for those in the know. Last time we stayed at WL in 2010, we had a nice North Side room on the 6th floor that gave us a great view of the MK and the fireworks at night from the balcony. We are looking for the same type of view, but this time we are "Club Level" so I guess we are 7th floor now. What room numbers should I request to get the best view of just being able to stand on the balcony and see the fireworks on the nights we are not out at the parks?

We were in room 7042 and had a great view of the fireworks and castle! :thumbsup2

Here is a map of the CL floor room numbers, courtesy of TheLodgeLady. The North Wing Woods View rooms are even-numbered 7044 - 7066. (7085 and 7086 are Honeymoon suites):

Thanks for that info. Being 44 days out, when would you recommend asking for the range of rooms, and should I contact guest services or the Club Level folks?

Congratulations on booking! Even missing 3 days, your kids sure get out early. They don't get out here in NoVA until 12/22:santa:

Oh, ours don't get out for break until Dec 22, but plan trips to avoid crowds, so usually do short trips during the school year. Usually we do it on a teacher/staff development weekend in Jan or Feb, so the kids only miss one or two days at the most. No staff development in December though, but we have wanted to see WDW at Christmas for years now, and it's now or in 3 years when both kids are out of High school. They are bright, so they'll catch up. Many of the kids in school end up missing more than 3 days when they go on band or orchestra trips to WDW or NY each year anyway.

So excited! :santa:

I finally had some time after going through pictures to post a mini trip report about Wilderness Lodge. It is in this forum, at: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2997751

We loved it more than we thought we would, and are really excited at the prospect of going back next year. :cool1:
Thanks for posting the link to your TR:)

The room assignor will block your room about 3 days prior to arrival. You have plenty of time to get your request into your reservation. When staying club level, the easiest way to do that is to simply email the IPO for WL at:

Wilderness.Lodge.Itinerary.Planning@disneyworld.com

You could ask for "A Wishes view" and then ask upon check-in if you in fact have a Wishes view.

I guess I got confused because you posted that you're doing MVMCP on 12/13. You're going to love the Lodge at Christmas! Here's a little holiday cheer for you:

We recently got back from WL and chose it in part based on the transportation options. I love having the option of the boats to MK and Fort Wilderness. During our recent stay (which was during a very low crowd time in September) we frequently rode the boats to MK, FW, and the Contemporary. While they are a fun and beautiful option, they were usually not any faster than busses would have been. It usually took about 30-40 min to get from the room to the front of MK, including approximately a 10 minute wait for a boat. The MK bus ride was only 5 minutes, and it didn't seem the waits for those busses were too bad.

The Contemporary was about a 5 minute ride away after waiting for a boat to arrive, and from there you can go into the lobby and up to the Monorail, which is how we went to Epcot (by transferring monorails at the TTC).

To get to the Grand Floridian, two options are boat to Contemporary and then Monorail to GF, or boat to MK and then another boat to GF. Either way you probably want to allow yourself 45 minutes to an hour.

For Fort Wilderness, it is about a 10 minute boat ride compared to a 5 minute bus ride. We did both and preferred the boat just because it was prettier and more fun.

The busses everywhere else were fine for us. We sometimes had to wait up to 25 minutes for a bus to show up but when it did we got right on and it was usually only shared with one other resort (usually the Grand Floridian) for DTD, AK or HS. Having the option of the bus to/from Epcot was nice, which the monorail resorts do not have. We usually tended to go to Epcot via the boat and monorail, but would return home via the bus which was about a 15 minute trip with WL as the first stop, then continuing on to FW.

Overall we enjoyed having all the options, and used the boats a lot, but the busses were probably the quicker option.

Thank you so much for the information. That is exactly what I wanted to know. :) We are meeting up with our daughter, her DH and the two grandchildren age 5 & 3. They want to spend a lot of time at the MK. We usually stay at the BC or BCV, which we love, but I cannot believe how excited I am to do something new and different.

You could certainly put your room requests through IPO, that's how I did it. :goodvibes

DBF posted his photos already on Flickr (show off). Here is the link if anyone is interested. Lots of WL photos and some others. If I didn't have work to do (silly job), I would post them directly in the thread. I will do that later if anyone wants me to.

Could someone please tell me what the easiest way to request a room is? We have a Woods View booked.
You will need to either call the WDTC/CRO with your reservation number and your request or contact your TA.

Well, HOWDY and :welcome: back! This is exciting news and I bet your girls are very excited, but what about poor DS? What's he getting out of this deal?

I shall inscribe your royal trip details into the Lodgers' Log, but I'm not using permanent posting ink;)

Kook - your permanent ink response cracked me up :rotfl2:

Glad you were laughing and not crying. Are you getting super excited about your trip? The fall weather must be making you feel closer to your trip date.

well we are back from our trip and it had some ups and downs.. our trip started off at the WL and we were only there for about 24 hours.. we had horrible service on the CL lounge. My TA had called before and spoke to several people before we got there to let them be aware of my celiac disease so that I would have food available.. the morning of our first stay I went into the lounge and found out that nothing was out for me to eat and the CM very rudely told me that they dont carry GF food and if i wanted a bagel or muffin I could find one downtairs. I told him I was told by my TA that I could get oatmeal and he told me that they didnt cater.. I was livid!! he told me to eat a banana.. UGHHHHH

I told my dh what happend and then he asked if we could get a bigger room.. i went to the desk and she said they had a deluxe but we couldnt get it until monday (this was Saturday) and we leave on Thursday.. so that was out..

My TA had called to see how things were going and when I told her I wasnt having a very good day she said she would call me right back.. When she did, she had a room credit for me and a hotel change also..

we eneded up getting moved to the CR top floor, MK view.. it was amazing and the CL staff had no problems with my celiac disease and having food that I could eat.. No bagels no muffins.. actual food...

not sure if it was a fluke, or if someone was having a bad day at the WL but our stay was not good and I am not sure if we will ever go back...
on a postive note, we did eat at WCC and it was fantastic, so it wasn't a loss...
just had to share my experience..

Wow there is absolutely no cause for rudeness!!! The do not cater.... that is awful and I truly hope you reported that CM! We had a less than magical CL level experience at the YC earlier this year - I also have celiac and I am very nervous to try CL level again - and this is just another reason why to avoid it! We booked the BC and WL non CL level for our Oct trip - I was considering upgrading but no way after this!

Glad to hear though that you had a good experience at the CR!!!!

Thank you for sharing about your stay. That brief experience didn't leave you with a positive impression. Not trying to make excuses for anyone, but there could have been some miscommunication. Your TA may have actually communicated with the IPO (Itinerary Planning Office). They are the POC before you arrive for a club level stay. The WL IPO is actually located at the Poly and they are the IPO for both WL and Poly. It's possible that they didn't relay your request to the OFC. I'm not certain, but were you the poster I recommended emailing the IPO to introduce yourself and let them know about your special dietary needs?

In the future, if you do stay CL anywhere else, make sure that when you check-in you remind the concierge at check-in that you have special dietary requests in your reservation. Did you do this?

Not trying to blame the victim here nor excuse any rude or unhelpful behavior you may have experienced, but from what I've heard and from my experience, there is a certain amount of planning and vigilance required with any special request and some club level experiences at WDW have been amazing and some have not. CMs change, management change, miscommunication can occur, food selections change, etc...

I'm not sure I understand why the offer of a Deluxe room upgrade was unacceptable. You just didn't want to stay in the Deluxe room only 3 nights, you wanted it for 5 nights? When you asked the concierge desk for a free upgrade, did you mention that you needed special foods and you were treated rudely? Did you ask to speak to the CL manager to straighten everything out? Just curious where the communication breakdown occurred.

That is quite the generous upgrade you received. If you were on the top floor of the CR, meaning the 14th, then you were on the Tower Club level where the suites are located. Amazing!
KOOK, where did we go tonight?

:yay: Thank you:hug:
It's Bill and Bill Jr.!!! That's what I call the wonderful buffalo topiaries. He was looking a little, ummm, under the weather last month, but he looks 'better' now (I think?). Maybe he went to the Sturdy Branches spa?

Did you eat there or just make a pre-NYE stay look-see?
