Both of my dds did the apple update (I didn't thank goodness) and have been having a few problems with it.....it freezes, and it seems to use up the battery alot, etc. Can you uninstall the update and go back to just as it was before??

I don't know, which is why I've held off on doing the update.

I don't know if you can uninstall. But I did it and haven't had any trouble at all.

You can, but I'm not sure how. I'm sure you can Google it.

That said I updated both our iPhones and my iPad and have had no issues. Battery life even seems to be better on our 4Ss. I haven't updated my iPod Touch yet.

I updated mine and my battery is lasting longer, no problems freezing either.

For those that have updated, did you plug your phone into the computer or do it over wi-fi?

How quick did they update after the release?

I read an article about that battery drainage thing that said it was corrected in one of the later rollouts. You might try having them plug their phones back into iTunes and see if another new update is available to them.

I did mine last night and when I arrived at work discovered that I lost all of my contacts. :furious: Now I have to wait until I get home tonight to see if I can restore back to reclaim all of them. If not I don't know what I am going to do! :worried:

Did you happen to have them backed up to iCloud as well? I keep backups in both places.

Restoring your phone back to IOS5 will not bring back your contacts.
What a restore does is return everything back to factory settings. Another words it will all be gone...songs, photos, videos.
Usually you should do a back up before installing new software.

No a restore won't work, but this will

Here's what worked for me. I connected my phone to iTunes, then went to Info<Advanced. I had to click on "sync contacts with" at the top, then scrolled down to the bottom and clicked the box next to Contacts under "replace information on this iPhone".

This was after I tried syncing, turning off and on again, turning contacts on under iCloud etc. After I did the above I finally got my contacts back.

Newbie question...how do I do a back up? Sorry if that is a really stupid question.

I haven't updated it because I've heard a lot of bad things about it. I have friends with the same complaints about battery life not lasting as long and their phone freezing. I have great battery life, so I don't want to do anything to mess that up.

Also, aesthetically, it isn't as nice. It doesn't appear as friendly, which is what was so appealing about the iPhone.

Everytime you sync with iTunes it backs it up UNLESS you are backing up to iCloud (phone setting). I do both just to be extra careful. To back up to iCloud go to Settings/iCloud/Storage & Backup/ and turn iCloud storage on. It will automatically backup next time you charge your iPhone, it's locked and it's connected to WiFi. If you do that and still want to back up to your itunes, just toggle that off next time you sync and it will make a back up there as well.

Thanks. I already have all the iCloud stuff turned on. :)

I have had problems with previous updates, so now I always wait a couple of weeks before I install the update to let everyone else work the bugs out ;)
