November 2012 Trip planners #4~almost Disney time! Everyone welcome!

:dance3::yay::cool1:

Caroline is off the ventilator and just has oxygen through her nose! That's great progress! And my DD will get to hold her tomorrow if things continue to improve as they are. I'm so happy! Thanks everyone for your support!:goodvibes

That is wonderful news! :thumbsup2

Ok
so we just decided to do this trip about 2 weeks ago...

So to say I am freaking out is an understatement:scared:

So here is my plan as of now... any and all input / suggestions appreciated

We have decided to go against the grain of vets and do the EMH's :crowded:
We have the dining plan- all restaurants except Biergarten is new to us
We are at POFQ
Boys are 9 & 6 and we were there in 2010...They are not big on characters, so I have avoided character meals.

Monday- arrive, check in, hit up MK (duh ;), ADR- Kona
Tuesday- Epcot, Late ADR Hacienda San Angel for the fireworks (per TA)
Wed- AK, ADR Boma
Thur- MK, ADR Biergarten
FRI- HS, Fantasmic Package (mama melrose), Osborne lights
Sat- 7:40 ADR Ohana for brekfast, DTD then head home...

Sounds good! We do EMH (mornings mostly) even during the summer busy months. We always get a lot done. Then if the park gets to be too much we hop to another park in the afternoons usually.

Quick planning ? Can my family make it to the 11:30 Nemo show and then immediately to the 12:30 FOTLK at AK?

JR - 1992 Caribbean Beach 1997 All Star Music 1998 Port Orleans Riverside 2000 Boardwalk Hotel 2008 Coronado Springs 2010 Pop Century – 80’s 2012: Pop Century – 60’s (11/7-11/12)

You can do it. It was a lot for our littles ones when we tried it though. Too much sitting at once.

Have her insist on this! It's been well documented that premies do exponentially better when they have as much skin-to-skin contact as possible. Unless they have an extraordinarily good medical reason to insist she not, she should be touching and holding her as much as possible.
But so wonderful that she's doing so much better!

I concur with this. Both of our girls were c-sections so mom wasn't able to spend early time with either of them. I was able to spend lots of time with them and did as much skin-to-skin as possible. When we were home we did family showers to continue that bond through the first year. It helped a lot with bonding. :thumbsup2

Absolutely! My DD was 6 weeks early and had open heart surgery at 8 days old. We couldn't hold her while she was all hooked up but we were encouraged to stroke her exposed skin as much as possible to promote healing and bonding.

They told my DD that stroking her was too much stimulation since she needed to concentrate on breathing. Then she was hooked up to so much. I'll pass along what you've said. Thanks so much!:goodvibes

Love the idea of the family shower! I'll let my DD know. Thank you for sharing!:thumbsup2

I am UNDER 2 months!!!! WOOHOO :yay: :yay:

:dance3: yay for being under two months!! I'm right behind you! :dance3:

Whoever wanted the apps for secret shopping for the iPhone, I have a few to share.
Field Agent
iSecretShop
shopkick
CheckPoints

I learned about all of these on the DIS by people who have used them, so they are legitimate apps. I haven't used them yet, but hopefully will have time soon. I would suggest setting up a separate email address to use for these apps, just to keep things simple.::yes::

Paid off the trip yesterday. We are looking for a hotel for the night before we check in. Hopefully I'll get that figured out today and be able to book that.
And I'm having second thoughts about DHS. I'm not sure if I should skip it. I'm thinking with the girls heights there are LOTS of rides they cannt ride and then with the closers. I'm just not sure there is going to be enough to make it worth our time If we didn't go we would go to AK instead Plus I'm not really that excited about DHS. Not much there that interests me.

Not much Disney planning going on over here... I'm actually out of state for work for 2 weeks (!!!!). I'm only 5 days into my trip and I miss my girls like crazy!

I am trying so hard to keep my eye on the Disney prize -- I'm working long days and getting a lot of overtime and we're using that money for Disney. Whatever we don't use this trip will be put into an account for our trip to Paris/Disney Land Paris trip next April.

I'm at an event that is held every year but this is my first time volunteering. It's not terrible, but it's really hard to be away from my girls and especially my baby... it's also not easy on my H. He has to do soccer and ballet on his own in addition to dinner, baths, homework, etc.

I really hope the $ is worth it... if it is, I will be coming back next year! 2 weeks of work can finance our whole vacation and then some -- not a bad deal, I guess.

As the trip gets closer I feel less prepared. I was doing so much Disney stuff for a while I - forgive me for saying this - burned out and felt silly for planning so far in advance. Now it seems I have a bunch of half finished projects or ideas not seen through and am running out of time. Blast!:furious:

We were going for 2 days but now just one day. I dont think there is too much there uther then ToT andd RNRC that my family will want to ride. The younger ones cant ride of course. I do want to do 2 days of AK but have no where to put it unless I cancel a water park day OR Be Our Guest at MK and I am NOT doing that!:crazy2:

When we took our almost 5 year old DGD in April, we skipped DHS. While it's a favorite of mine, for her, I just thought it wasn't worth it. We didn't have park hoppers since it was a short trip, so we opted out of it for another whole day at MK.

I am sorry you are missing your girls. It must be so hard. Sounds like it's worth it in the long run, though, if it pays for your trip and all those wonderful memories you'll be making with your girls.::yes:: It also never hurts for hubby to learn exactly how hard you work to keep the household running smoothly.;)
Hope the time flies by and you're soon back with your little ones!:goodvibes

We purposely are going to DHS on our arrival day because it will be a "short" day for us. We won't get to the park until 1pm, and we have lunch and dinner ressies, so we won't be spending much time in the park.

My little girls will like the Disney Jr stuff, but my older DD will just be mad that she can't ride the roller coaster!

UGH my mom is going to be soooo mad when she finds out she missed seeing Beast. It was a surprise so she didn't even know she was going. I somewhat want to tell her to make sure she doesn't want to go but at the same time I don't want to tell her cause I'm OK with her staying with baby sis and my new niece. :confused3:confused3 I think I'm just going to go with the plan of not telling her.

On a brighter note...55 Days!!!!:cool1::banana:

I just found this thread - 4 threads in. I am not going to go back and read but I will jump in now.

We are going 11/15 - 11/25 and staying offsite. Today my countdown clock went to 50 days. It doesn't include today or arrival day though so its probably really 51 days.

Our plans
11/15 - travel day. We leave late because of school so won't get in until 7pm. No plans but getting checked in and sleeping.
11/16 - Late brunch at CM, Party at MVMCP
11/17 - short (late arrival early departure) day at Epcot. Lunch at Coral World
11/18 - Hollywood Studios - Have reservations for 50PT at lunch - not sure if we will keep them.
11/19 - Epcot - dinner at Via Napoli
11/20 - Animal Kingdom - Lunch at Tusker House
11/21 - Magic Kingdom - Dinner at Cinderellas Royal Table
11/22 - Thanksgiving - Hollywood studios. Lunch at Hollywood and Vine or Dinner at Chef Mickey. Will cancel one reservation eventually.
11/23 - Magic Kingdom - Breakfast at Crystal Palace.
11/24 - Epcot - Dinner at Biergarten
11/25 - Travel Day - Early flight home.

We are going with extended family, but the immediate family is me and my DH and our 2 little girls who will be 6-1/2 and 2-1/2. Its the 2 year olds first trip to DW. She has been on 2 Disney Cruises. The 6 year old has been to DW and DL (and the 2 cruises). I'm hoping my 2 year old likes the characters better in Nov then she did in July. In July she loved them from afar. She would want to go give them a hug until we would get up close to them and then she would change her mind.

We are fortunate enough to have been able to plan a trip to WDW!
With our schedules it didn't look like we would be able to go until March 2012.
But we arrive on November 17-23rd! Yay!
