Be Our Guest? Menu what do you think? Now Beast appearing!

. . . I cant wait for some dining reviews! . . .

1) We will see what others think.
2) Buy, IMHO,

I took part in a menu tasting for BOG. This is the third eatery
preview I was able to attend (Turf Club and Wave Breakfast
buffet being the other two). We sampled items from both the
lunch and dinner offerings. This was done off-site, of course.
The eatery is a 1-QS-credit for lunch and a 1-TS-credit for
dinner, so do not expect "Signature" dining quality. I was not
able to get to taste all of the menu items, as they were gone
before I got to them. Below is my opinion of those I did sample.

LUNCH:
. . . tuna nicoise salad - good, but light on the olives *
. . . croque monsieur sandwich - Béchamel sauce needs more nutmeg *
. . . turkey on a warm baguette - good, especially the dijon
. . . grilled steak sandwich - not tasted
. . . braised pork - gone before I got to it
. . . vegetable quiche - sorry, but real men don't sample quiche

DINNER:
. . . pork rack chop - unfortunately, the pasta out-shined the pork
. . . rotisserie rock hen - nicely done and highly recommended
. . . pan-seared salmon - tasty, but average as far as fish go
. . . grilled strip steak - didn't taste, but others said slightly tough
. . . sautéed shrimp and scallops - were only so-so
. . . oven-baked ratatouille - well above average

* for my taste

I'm not crazy about the menu either but I'm still excited to be able to eat there.

Well being French, I'm thrilled with the menu and hopefully BOG's execution will meet my expectations! I do have reservations in Nov., and I am a bit ambivilent as I typically never eat somewhere just as they open. It's usually best when trying a new restaurant to give them time to work out the kinks and finess the execution of certain dishes!

Scallops and shrimp, with a lobster sauce, with puff pastry sounds really delicious and hopefully will taste as good as it sounds. My son is a pork fan, so it will be the thyme scented pork for him, my vegan friend will have the ratatouille which is a side dish in France not really a main meal. I'm sure the other two will have the steak/frite. 4 out of the 6 of us are French, so it should be interesting.

We've are excited to try the Charcuterie platter, and also how the French onion soup rates as compared to Les Chefs etc.. I will probably order the leek soup just to see how it is. These are foods that I serve my family and friends, I hope BOG will showcase the cuisine well!

I had ratatouille in france, as a side dish. So i agree with you, its a shame ratatouille isnt available as a side rather than a main.

Happy to hear Beast will be appearing. I noticed that Kenny's blog says that Beast doesn't sign autographs because he's unable to. (Maybe the hands are too bulky?) I wonder what they tell the kids when they ask why.

We had been hoping for so long that it would be open for our trip next month, but then we found out that wasn't going to happen and we were disappointed, but when I saw the menu, I wasn't really all that disappointed because the menu didn't thrill me either.

Glad to hear that Beast will be there now though. I'd still like to see the restaurant so if we go again in 2013, we might decide to dine there. I'm looking forward to reading some reviews though.

I'm excited about the menu and the cupcakes!! Awesome news regarding Beast. So excited for the whole experience when we go in December.

Hopefully they will have a card with his signature like they did for the mice at CRT, pre princess takeover. Also, will the photo be included in the photopass plus?

I can't wait to read the reviews, but a photo with the beast. if iit was him and belle in her yellow dress together that would be even more awesome :)

I figured they would have to add him. How could he have a castle and not live there lol

The menu doesn't inspire me at all. Maybe I will go there, maybe I won't for my upcoming May trip. To me, it's not worth the money if the food isn't something I want...

And you know, to me that makes perfect sense, it's how I decide where to eat. I do think however there are people who will go just to see and experience the new venue, irregardless of whether they like the menu or not!

At least in the beginning!

Not excited about the menu at all but very excited about trying out the new restaurant and experience. Kind of like CRT for me, if the food isn't good it'll be a one time only thing for us then. Looking at the menu I think I will order the rock hen. Nothing stands out to me as sounding really good.

The menu looks alright but I hope there's an option to skip The Beast. As adults with no kids, we were kind of happy about a non-character meal.

I'm sure they won't force you to interact with The Beast against your wishes. He might however lock you in a room until you agree to dine with him. Just saying.
