Kona Cafe

Not happy with those changes:confused: Does anyone know if the dessert menu has changed? Please tell me they still have fondue popcorn:: Thanks!

OMG! I didn't think of that!!! That is what I am really there for. The ribeye was just something to snack on until it was time for dessert! LOL

The fondue is still there. The only real changes to the dessert offerings is the no sugar added apple stack is gone and is replaced with a low sugar jasmine infused cheesecake. The Kona kone is now a Kona bowl.

Lol! Well the metal cone holders need to be replaced so until they get new ones they are shaping the cones like bowls. Its still comes with everything including the cotton candy

Here is the new tuna entree courtesy of Dismember Alice BlueBonnet. She is the one who sent in the pictures of the menus and entrees. I am just borrowing them since this subject came up today. Thank her when you see her!:thumbsup2

The coconut almond chicken breast has a crust of coconut and almonds. I taste the almonds more than the coconut. I wasn't sure I would like it the first time I ordered it because I don't love coconut but it was delicious.

We have been going in Sept and I am finding every year this is when they change the menus.

We were thinking of booking for NEXT October when we are there-maybe we will be changing our mind next september :)

Thanks. How thick is the crust? I don't mind a thin crust, but if it's too much, I may go for something else. I like both almonds and coconut. I just don't like too much of the crushed almonds or too much of any crushed nut for that matter. A little is ok. I'd like to be able to taste the chicken and not just the almonds.

Is the shrimp and scallops entree gone too???

Yes, it's gone. We ate there last month and the server told us the menu was getting ready to change and that my dish (shrimp/scallops) was being dropped along with the rib-eye. I always seem to have a favorite here and it always gets deleted. I use to love their filet, then I loved their prime rib -- so watch out, everytime I like something here is gets dropped. I actually didn't get shrimp/scallops last month, they substituted shrimp for the scallops and I had all shrimp. It was yummy.

I think the chicken sounds great, but doesn't the salad with it make the whole meal too sweet?? I was going to sub the salad with mashed potatoes but it looks like they are gone :worried:

So I lurk on the boards a lot but don't post much. However my wife and I happen to be in the World right now for our anniversary and just ate at Kona, so I figured I would chime in.... We had the sticky wings which are still great, however the order is 6 wings now so much smaller. I had the new duck entree and it was a bit over cooked, but it was spiced well and the sides were very good. I also had the Kona coffee panna cotta which was a very good dessert, very strong flavor and light at the same time.

The wings were on the menu as sticky wings for 2. Is that how it still reads? I love those wings!!! What I mean is are they now considered an app for 1? Which would make a differance on the Dlx plan. Right?

My husband and I are visiting Mickey and his friends in 20 days for our 20th anniversary. Had dinner planned at Kona for our actually anniversary dinner, but had to change when I saw that the shrimp and scallops were gone. Oh well, gives us a chance to try something new. Maybe we'll revisit another time to try the new menu, meanwhile :rolleyes1I will wait and see what you all think of it.

Have a great trip everyone!

They are back to being an app for one, and yes, that would make a difference on the DxDDP.

Yes, they are. We didn't have it due to food allergies, but the waitress mentioned macadamia butter. We got back last week.
