The Disney Adventures of Scooter Mom-Sept 7-14 (COMPLETE)

Hope you are doing better pain wise.

Great decision to turn back and wait. I have been out at that boat dock in thunder and lightning and even though it is covered when it raining sideways not many dry places to stand.

Even though a late start looks like crowds were a bit lighter and you are getting off to a nice start.

Thanks for the hug. It has really been a rough couple of days trying to stay ahead of the pain. It is getting better each day, though. And I got some decent rest last night which was good.

It really was a good decision and the crowds weren't bad at all for this trip, so it wasn't a problem at all. I was really glad we waited it out.

When I read your first update I was thinking :cool1: woo hoo for a trade to the VWL! Awesome. It's one of my home resorts.

Then when I read about your ankle, well...OMG.....I am still cringing thinking about the amount of pain you must have been in.

I can't get totally caught up now, but I will. Anxious to read about your scooter adventure!

:welcome: I am so happy you stopped by !! Come back and chat when you get caught up !!

Yes, that ankle thing has really sucked big time. I am on my fourth day post-op and things are slowly getting better, but I still have 10-12 weeks non weight bearing to go, so it will be a while before I am back on my feet so to speak.

Day 3 – Part 3

After our delicious lunch at Casey's, we headed over to ride BTMRR which was DD’s favorite.

Some photos on the way.

BTMRR had a 10 min wait, but we went in through the handicap entrance.

I parked the scooter and had to walk a little farther to the ride than I would have liked.

We all enjoyed the ride, but it was way too bumpy for my injured ankle, so I sat the next one out while they rode again …. And again. With virtually no wait.

After that, we went to ride Haunted Mansion

Some photos on the way

The handicap entrance for this was way too many steps for me, too. And I worried the whole time about how I was going to get off the ride. DH was there for me to lean on though. But dang, that hurt.

We rode Peter Pan and that was a shorter walk, but still too much for me. I hopped all the way off the ride on one foot. And that was it for me. I told them I wasn't getting out of the scooter to walk again that day. Unless it was to pee. And I dug in my bag for an emergency pain pill. Oof.

DD tired the sword in the stone

No luck.

Howdy I'm subbing to see how the Scooter Mom made it. I hope your ankle is getting better. I have a bum knee that I really need to have surgery on but I have been putting it off, so next trip is definitely going to be a scooter trip for me as well. I can walk short distances but I know with my knee I'll never make it around the parks maybe some lines but never the entire park without it swelling and then me not being able to walk for days after. I'm gonna pull out some popcorn:: and read how you handled the :moped: :goodvibes

:welcome: So sorry about your knee !! The scooter was really fun at times and it made our trip much more enjoyable for me that it would have been if we had not rented the scooter for sure !!

I have had a couple of really rough days post op, but things are getting slowly better. Thanks for asking !! And thanks for stopping in to say hello !!

All caught up and still cringing thinking about how much pain you must have been in at times. Thank goodness they replaced your battery promptly. You are are the second DISer I heard of that got a low battery like that.

I am staying at VWL in three weeks and its been over two years since I last stayed there, so I am enjoying all the pictures. I forget about the jets in the quiet pool. I can't wait for some quality pool time there.

Bummer that it had to rain right as you were leaving for MK, but having so many of the rides be a walk on really helped. Great pictures on BTMMR.

My brother had that exact same meatloaf this summer at WPE. I think he ate the whole thing. :faint:

Looking forward to more!

I am still in a lot of pain from the surgery and this splint they put over my newly reconstructed ankle is durned uncomfortable. One of the wisest decisions I have ever made is scheduling this surgery AFTER our trip !!

OK, I have to ask you this. We ate at Wilderness Lodge in June of 2011 and we met this lovely group of ladies at dinner. They are all staying together in one of the villas and I swear they were dissers. Any chance that was you ?? Just curious. We LOVED the WLV !! Would definitely go back in a minute !! Availability there is surprisingly scarce, so it is obviously more popular than I thought it would be. And I can't tell you why I think it wouldn't be as popular. Moving on .....

That meatloaf at WPE is the ultimate comfort food. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and those crispy onion rings ??? Heaven ....

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear that your ankle was bothering you so much!! Hopefully the medication helped a bit, I don't blame you for not wanting to leave the scooter after that!

It really did hurt back then, but now that I have had surgery, it hurts even more and I won't we able to walk until after Thanksgiving. Here's what I look at all day ...

So part of me wishes I could go back to being able to walk ..... I was VERY glad I hoarded those pain pills for the trip. I sure did need them !! I ran out the day before the surgery. So I paced them out perfectly.:dance3:

I'm loving all of your pictures of Wilderness Lodge.

Ouch, sorry about the pain you were in during the trip.

I've never eaten at Casey's, but those hot dog pictures are making me hungry.

Okay, I'm here and reading what I've missed, so I apologize in advance for my novel of a comment. LOL.

Man, I am reliving your pain with your fall down the stairs! I remember when it happened. :faint:

When you explained it all, I was in pain just thinking about it. :(

Wow, your son looks so different already from your last TR! They just grow up so fast, don't they?

Nice bugs on your windshield. :lmao: The unfortunate side effect of driving to Florida.

Your DH sounds like my Dad refusing to use bell services. He doesn't see the point in tipping someone for something that we're all capable of doing apparently. :headache:

Beautiful room photos, although I do have to say that it must have been difficult for you to take the pictures while balancing on crutches. ;)

Dude, you look dangerous on that scooter....and I think you liked it a little toooooo much. :lmao:

I love that pool with the bubblers at WL! It's just so cool. But then I'm easily amused so.....

That picture you took by the pool with that little girl getting ready to jump in at Daddy is seriously adorable.

Spider pig, spider pig......Homer is the best.

The geyser at WL reminds of me the real Old Faithful which we went and saw when I was little. I remember looking at it being like "and?" :rotfl2:

I could not imagine the battery running out of power in the middle of a park. I would possibly cry if that happened to me.

Ooooo, WPE cheesecake is the best.

It seems that your DD is up to her same old shenanigans, blowing through her souvie budget in record time. Girl after my own heart that one. ::yes::

OMG, your DD is mauling Mickey! (well, her Mickey waffles).

Sometimes, the smell of hot dogs can be truly irresistible.

DISNEY BUNNY!

Looks like you guys made a good decision waiting the rain out for a while.

Wilderness Lodge is such a lovely quiet resort. Such beautiful grounds as well.

Those hot dogs really hit the spot that day. Everything was very fresh and delicious !!

Yay !!! I am so glad you are here !!!

Man, I am reliving your pain with your fall down the stairs! I remember when it happened. :faint:

When you explained it all, I was in pain just thinking about it. :(

It has really been like a nightmare

Wow, your son looks so different already from your last TR! They just grow up so fast, don't they?

They do. And we had to get his hair cut. He was looking too scruffy.

Nice bugs on your windshield. :lmao: The unfortunate side effect of driving to Florida.

Bugs+flash+dark=really bad gate photo

Your DH sounds like my Dad refusing to use bell services. He doesn't see the point in tipping someone for something that we're all capable of doing apparently. :headache:

It doesn't make any sense. I would have gladly paid the bell people myself so I didn't have to listen to him moan about how far it was and how heavy everything was. I even gave him some money, which I never saw again come to think of it.

Beautiful room photos, although I do have to say that it must have been difficult for you to take the pictures while balancing on crutches. ;)

I was able to take a few steps without crutches and there was lots of thing to hold onto, thank goodness. Doing just about anything is impossible on crutches.

Dude, you look dangerous on that scooter....and I think you liked it a little toooooo much. :lmao:

That is my alternate Scooter Mom persona. She is fierce. And will beat you to the fast pass machine with her speed and determination.

I love that pool with the bubblers at WL! It's just so cool. But then I'm easily amused so.....

I didn't get to experience the giant bubblers because I was afraid they would "jostle" my ankle, so I just stuck to the steps. DD loved that pool though. Of course she liked the slide better !!

That picture you took by the pool with that little girl getting ready to jump in at Daddy is seriously adorable.

I wanna say I purposely captured that moment, but I didn't even notice until someone else pointed it out to me. Sad, but true. It was a cute photo !!

Spider pig, spider pig......Homer is the best.

You know you couldn't get that song out of your head after that. Kinda like I can't get it out right now ...... :faint:

The geyser at WL reminds of me the real Old Faithful which we went and saw when I was little. I remember looking at it being like "and?" :rotfl2:

The kids were like that about it, but DH and I enjoyed it. DS admitted later that it was kinda cool.

I could not imagine the battery running out of power in the middle of a park. I would possibly cry if that happened to me.

I know I would as well. So glad that didn't happen !!

Ooooo, WPE cheesecake is the best.

It is. So creamy and yummy. It would go well with my coffee right now ....

It seems that your DD is up to her same old shenanigans, blowing through her souvie budget in record time. Girl after my own heart that one. ::yes::

DS blew his first on Legos. Shockingly, DD's budget lasted a couple of days.

OMG, your DD is mauling Mickey! (well, her Mickey waffles).

Those waffles were so good. They made them fresh while you waited. Nom. Nom.

Sometimes, the smell of hot dogs can be truly irresistible.

Truth

DISNEY BUNNY!

We HAD to have a photo of that according to DD. Disney bunnies are magical, yo.

Looks like you guys made a good decision waiting the rain out for a while.

We did. The rest of the day was perfect. Well, until the ride back to WL. Could have done without that.
.

Day 3 – Part 4

After our failed attempt at removing the sword from the stone, we watched Philharmagic.

Sat in the back row. Didn’t have to leave the scooter. YAY !!

More Fantasyland photos

Next was Pooh !!

Now this ride had a wheel chair car and the two SUPER CM’s were so excited to have me use it. So I was happy that I could oblige and not put them out.
So, all I had to do is switch from the scooter to the chair and all was good. No walking onto the ride – YAY !! I took some photos.

Yes, I used flash. No one saw, because no one was in front of us or behind us. It took about 15 min. to get on this ride. It was the longest we waited for a ride all night. And I was totally digging the Wheel Chair car on the ride. And I decided if I got the chance to ride a wheelchair car again, I was !!! As long as there wasn’t someone in line behind me who needed it more than me.

DD wanted to ride the tea cups and the Barnstormer, but DS was really wanting to ride Space Mountain. So I took him over there while DH endured the tea cups.

He rode three times in a row with little to no wait.

We snagged a Root Beer Float from Auntie Gravitys for a snack credit.

DSC04412.jpg

So yummy !!

We met back up with DH and DD

DSC04415.jpg

And DH had allowed DD to play in the Casey Jr. Splash Pad and she was SOAKED

DSC04416.jpg

DSC04417.jpg

So parents – Public Service Announcement – if you let your kid play at the Casey Jr. Splash Pad, they will get soaked. Bring back up clothing. She spent the rest of the night at the park in wet clothes.

Day 3 – Part 2

A lady with a baby gave us her arcade card that she said she wouldn’t use, so the we headed to the arcade so the kids could play games.

That is so nice. Back when we used to get those, we almost always forgot about it until we were in the car on the way back home.

The piano player was out and we enjoyed listening to him while we ate

DSC04358.jpg

I think this is the only time I've not seen a crowd gathered around him. I love listening to him!

Did y'all get to see the Frontierland hoedown? This is one thing I constantly miss. We finally got to see some version of it on our last trip, and it seemed they were running it more often. We watched parts of it twice, and heard the music going up on another occasion. Maybe we just got the timing right on this trip. :confused3 Anyway, it was fun, and I wish you could meet the Country Bears afterwards. I'd love to get a pic with Big Al! I seriously hope the rumors of shortening this show are wrong.

I loved the piano man !! It was fun listening to him while we were eating.

We have never seen the Frontierland how down in its entirety. We saw the end and I was fascinated with Clarabel the cow. We have never seen the Country Bear Jamboree either. But I have read the rumors to shorten it.
