Kohls claiming a sale when the item is still full price!

Target does that a lot! I often see a tag hanging on an item but if you shop there enough or know the item you can tell it is regular price.

As long as the price stated is the price you pay I don't view it as a scam. It happens..it's possibly a ploy to get business yes..but it's not like the actual price you pay is somehow deceptive or unclear. If you want to pay $40 then you pay $40..it doesn't really matter what the "original" price is.

Not everything at Kohl's is junky, cheap crap. I bought a KitchenAid stand mixer there for far less than anywhere else. They also carry brand names like Food Network, Calphalon, Levis, Carters for kids and others. You just have to be a smart shopper there and know ypur prices. I have gotten some incredible deals there over the years.

Me too. I got a columbia jacket for $8 once, along with other deals. They are tricky, you just have to work the sale system to your advantage. JcPenney and Macy's are just as bad, Macy's is probably the worst!

You just have to watch things and know if the store is really giving you a deal or at least have a set price point on something, if you want to pay only $20 for an item it doesn't matter if it is$20 regular price and on sale this week for $20 marked regular price $40. If it's the $20 you are willing to pay buy and if not, pass.

When the Kmart here was closing, they had reduced all their merchandise. My DH was looking at one of the tools they had. It was marked that it had been reduced 25%, but the prices they had on there told a different story. It had the original price and the new reduced price. The difference was not 25%, it was only like 19%. Someone could not do math.

It's very hard to buy something at Kohl's that isn't on sale. Are they ever NOT having a sale? They jack the regular prices up so ridiculously so that you can feel really good about yourself when you get 50% off or more. Retail therapy.

But yes, it is junk-- most of the things I buy from there only last one season before buttons fall off. I had a whole pocket fall off a sweater. They operate under the understanding that people today consider most things disposable. They don't know how to sew buttons and things back on, they just go and buy new instead.

Target likes to put out signs that look like sale signs but actually instead say in small print "as advertised".
"as advertised" does not mean "on sale"

I've shopped at Khols and bought a pair of Vera Wang jeans. The regular price was up in the $50 range and they were on sale for thirty something dollars. I bought them and they still are my favorite pair. So far they are holding up very well and I bought them around March of this year. However, even though they were on "sale" in the $30 range, to me, that was what it should have been anyway. I do like their clothing. I just wish they had a bigger selection in the petite section.

I think the bold is what is key about Kohl's. Often their "sale" prices are more in line with what an item should reasonably be priced. I am under no illusions that the "sale" is really a sale..more that it is the more reasonable price for the item. If I choose to spend $30 for jeans what difference does it make what the tag said prior to that? I only care about the price I am willing to pay for an item and if that price matches the price it is selling for.

It's very easy to work the coupons and "sales" there and get items for very cheap...I rarely spend more than $10 for a shirt there and have picked up jeans for under $20. The clothes have all held up quite well and for $10 or $20 I don't find the prices unreasonable.

This. Kohl's has the most ludicrous pricing structure ever. I won't even go in the place.

They sell junky, cheap crap, at like 4x what it's worth, on perpetual "sale" for three times what it's worth, then with some voodoo combination of using their cc (so they get more $), their coupons, etc., it'll end up being only 2 or so times what it's worth.

It's still junk, it's still way overpriced junk, but somehow it's now perceived as a great bargain because it's "60% off! (the price it never was, to a price it shouldn't be).

They ARE very overpriced. Often times, their sale price is the original price somewhere else. For example, I bought my little Keurig there, "on sale" for $99.99, which is what it generally sold for regular price elsewhere. I could have gotten it at Bed Bath and Beyond for another 20% off. However, I had a 30% off code, purchased other items I wanted (also for a reasonable price "on sale" plus the 30% off) and got $20 in Kohls cash, which I later used on something I already had in mind that cost $20.

What really irks me about USING the Kohls cash and a code is that they take the Kohls cash off the top, then give the % off, rather than the other way around. Seems to me that the Kohls cash should be used as payment when the final price is determined AFTER the coupon % off.

Having said that, I agree with others about knowing prices. I just got some awesome Carters clothes for my granddaughter starting at $3 each, and I did it without leaving my home (never pay shipping).

Aeropostale seems to have this tendancy of having ridiculous prices on items, but then they are on sale for a decent price. And they are ALWAYS on sale. I've seen Old Navy do this, too.

I just bought some of their Apt 9 towels about two months ago - not the cheapest ones but the bug fluffy "super absorbent" ones. They took many washings to stop leaving lint all over us, and now the sewing on the ends is completely fraying.

Kohl's is great if you now how to use the system to your advantage and hopefully not go around paying the prices on the tag.

They were selling the new Nike NFL jerseys for $100 (same price as Dicks Sporting Goods -- so not really inflated, at least compared to some other stores). These were not even on sale, and havent been since they became available. $100 was the tag price.

I had a $10 off mens clothing purchase coupon as well as a 30% off.

The jersey came to $63 and I received $10 in Kohls cash.

The $10 in Kohl's cash today was turned into a free pair of Ugg types boots my wife purchased for $10 off of their website -- w/free shipping.

I've never noticed their stuff to be "junk". Most clothes purchased from the kids were outgrown before being worn out. We also have lots of clothes from there that we've worn for multiple seasons as well.

I meant their own brands of stuff mostly, though there's a lot of the 'name' stuff that is second-tier at that level, yes.

Like, Calphalon has different tiers of stuff. A Calphalon pot is not the same wherever you buy it - it's going to be a different weight, durability, etc., depending on the product line which differs based on where you got it and what it (basically) cost.

Same as Coach stuff has tiers - the stuff they sell at the outlets isn't the same sold in stores, etc.

I meant mostly their stuff though - it's junky, cheap crap, imo, as noted by others in the thread saying their stuff fell apart or what have you.

The thing with Kohls cash and other like programs is, it is only a good deal for those who shop there a lot. For someone like me, I go there maybe twice a year. I just don't need new clothes that often. The do have some good prices on clearance but that is always hit and miss no matter what store you are in.

And I agree, I am no a big fan of the quality of a lot of things there.
