Chances for CP walk ups?

We had to push back our vacation so obviously we lost all our ADRs. Now there's nothing available for Crystal Palace breakfast. :( What are the chances we could get in by just walking up? Do they even take walk ups? We dont care what time, or how long it takes, we just want breakfast.

Interestingly two weeks ago we were at animal kingdom and wanted to make lunch reservations for that same day. Where called they said they had nothing available. But we went to the restaurant and they were able to seat us. They said that they hold some reservations for walk ups. I have no idea if that is common, but it can't hurt to try. Good luck!

CP is one of the restaurants that consistently runs behind, as such, walk-ups are less of a chance. I'd keep trying if I were you even up to the day you're heading to MK. It won't hurt to show up and ask, but keep trying beforehand and have a backup plan.

Which restaurant was this?

RFC at AK and DtD does do reservations differently than other restaurants. Landry's (the owner) only gives Disney Dining some of their tables to book, the rest they hold for their own reservations and walk-ups. The same deal with TRex. Yak & Yeti is also owned by the same company and may follow suit to some degree (we mostly hear it about RFC and TRex though).

Now if it was Tusker House (owned and operated by Disney), that's interesting and something I haven't heard before (in fact, have heard just the opposite). Not saying what you were told wasn't true, just another inconsistency with the Disney Dining department.

We were able to score a dinner walkup at CRT in February 2010. It was a rainy day. I would keep trying for a reservation even after you are at Disney. You never know. I was totally against even asking if they had any openings, but my sister convinced me. We were a party of 6 by the way. We lucked out....you could too.

We had no luck in March. In August, we booked our ADLS (didn't know about the 6 month thing) until the day of our arrival...we did get CP.

Keep trying. We changed our dates too. At first I was unable to get a ressie for crystal palace but yesterday one popped up for the exact day and time we needed (we are a party of 7, so not easy to get) I have been checked daily for the last month. We leave in 12 days so I am so excited.

When we went there last October they were turning people away. We got seated about 15 minutes behind our scheduled ADR. It may be different now. I'd say keep checking, and especially a couple of days out due to people canceling at the last minute.

I've been checking at least 4 times a day every day. This is the one place we really want to eat at. We would give up all our other ones for just CP. We don't even care what morning, we're willing to move things around. What kills me is I had the perfect reservation but then we had to move up our vaca. Now we just had to move it back to the original dates.

Thank you!

how many people are in your party? Do you have an odd number? The reservation system trys to fills tables with the max number of people, so it can work against odd numbered parties. Try looking for availability for an even number and you can sometimes get a better chance of getting a ressie.

Also, make sure you subscribe to the cancelation thread for the month of your visit.

Everytime we've tried to walk up to CP (nearly every trip) we've been told they only seat reservations and don't take walk ups :( Maybe its because they're always so busy?

I have always had an adr for cp, and we have always heard cm's telling walk ups this :-/ You can always try op.

:( I'm loosing hope. This sucks. I've been checking multiple times a day and nothing, no matter what party size.

And we can go as a party of 2 or 3. My brother will come if need be, or it can be just me and my mom.

We walk up for lunch or dinner often. Never tried breakfast.

Check for 4 as well. 3s often have trouble with availability (just like parties of 1) as the system is wonky with odd numbers. The system also shouldn't charge you for showing up with 2 or 3 for a ADR for 4 as the cc-guarantee is "all or nothing". So long as at least part of your party honors the reservation, there will be no fee assessed.

If you've been just specifying "Breakfast", you may want to specify 9am instead as well, as sometimes that makes a better search. Lastly, unless your heart is absolutely set on breakfast, try some off times (e.g. 11am, 2pm, etc) and you may see something open up.

That gives me a little bit of hope. :worried:

And I've started searching for 2-4 and as you (Cafeen) suggested, specifying a time, but still no luck. I'll keep trying multiple times a day, both on the phone and online. Unfortunately, my heart is definitely set on breakfast. We go for the food, not necessarily the characters. This is our last trip before I have gastric bypass and I don't know if I'll ever be able to eat some of the stuff again. I KNOW it will never be worth it for me to pay for a buffet when I'll barely eat anything.

Thank you to everyone! After a long night of getting a server error everytime I tried to book a couple different day/times I found, I managed to get a ressie this morning! :woohoo: It's for a slightly larger party but at least I have one. I'll keep checking to see if a smaller one opens up and if it does, just book that and cancel this one.

Best advice is to keep checking, including the day before. People cancel, things change. It's always possibly but have a back up just in case

Well done! Have a great time there and good luck at getting another ADR. :)
