I have just been on such a baking kick lately. I partly blame Pinterest, LOL! It has definitely inspired me to try new things that I would never have tried to make before.
Recently I have made homemade crackers, granola bars, baguettes (I usually stick to rolls, biscuits and quick breads ~ real bread has always seemed so intimidating, but it's actually kind of fun).
My family is loving it, because I try to steer clear of junk food at the grocery store, so they are getting some extra treats. ;)
They really loved the granola bars (they were far better than any I have ever bought, and nothing in them that I can't identify!).
If you have tried anything new (or have a tried and true recipe), please share!

Here is the granola bar recipe that I used:
*I substituted maple syrup for the honey, and powdered milk for the wheat germ*

You GO!!! :thumbsup2
For me cooler weather or family holidays bring on the baking madness... :rotfl:
DH's birthday is in 3 days so I'll be baking tomorrow...

Last spring Duncan Hines downsized and reformulated their cake mixes by over 2 ounces,
and now their cakes don't fill up my cake pans anymore, and are drier and have tunnels in them...
so I started making my own mixes using the above recipe... SO yummy!!! And easy!
Chocolate ganache makes the most scrumptious frosting...

There is a Fall Bazaar for a local ministry is in one week and I'll be making about 75 chocolate cupcakes filled with vanilla italian meringue buttercream and glazed with ganache...:cloud9:

YAY for baking bread! I used to bake pan levain every week when I had more free time... so good with home made soup!
Wish I had more time for baking...:sad2:

I haven't started yet, but I'm ready :)

I've been looking at pumpkin recipes on Pinterest, so I'm ready for my apartment to smell like fall.

Recently I've done banana muffins, pumpkin muffins and chocolate cherry "bread" which is really cake baked in loaf pans. I freeze them and eat the muffins for breakfast and we have the cherry bread for dessert.

Now that my mom is back to work (she's a secretary in the library at the nearby high school), I've been baking every other week. I usually make her a couple dozen treats to take to school for her student assistants, as well as the staff.

I'm going to TRY this year to not have any repeat treats. We'll see how that goes though. lol

I made 450 cookies for our Cub pack meeting last week, does that count?

:crazy2:

And a batch of yeast rolls for home, to go with the beef stew.

Making the best ever pumpkin cookies right now. Wishing the summer would go away and get cooler. Hate baking when it's 95 outside but I can't wait. At least my home will smell like fall. :)

yummy soups!!!!I hope to make a lot when it cools down. DD13 has been bugging me to take her the the lil japanese place for veggie soup. Well its to hot to go and its always warm in there:confused3 so i made her some soup minus the egg(dont know how to do the egg in soup) I put cabbage, broccoli, carrots, itlian sqash, white pepper, blk pepper, cumin and chicken bullion. It was about 100* outside and we had soup. The air was on high and we enjoyed our soup in our home-yum!

I did make some caramel:cool1:

I just did some caramel this week, too! We used it to make homemade caramel corn, and it was so good!! :goodvibes

When I do egg drop or hot and sour soup, I whisk the egg and slowly drizzle it in once the soup is at a low boil. Works beautifully, and the egg gives the soup a wonderful texture! :thumbsup2

I love seeing what everyone else is cooking/baking right now. I feel like I have been in a cooking rut, and need the inspiration, so thank you! :)

next weekend starts my baking season. Starting off making Finnish sweet bread. 1st attempt on making :)

I've been on a huge baking kick, too. Breads, rolls, cakes,English muffins, bagels, pies. I think I need to stop or stick to baking one thing a week. We're going to get plumpy. :crazy2:

I am going to make 2 loaves of pumpkin bread today ~ one for the freezer and one to bring to the dog park. I love the recipe I use since it's nice and spicy and that's the way I like it :)
